    Sleeve dislikes

No food, and I mean nothing, has bothered Timmy, my tiny tummy. That being said, I have bothered Timmy. If I eat too fast or don't chew enough, it feels like a lump in my throat, and it is seriously uncomfortable. Only time helps it pass. It's a mistake that none of us wants to make on a regular basis! Broccoli is hard to chew mushy enough, and it takes up too much room and keeps me from eating my Protein. Lack of protein is my trigger for hunger , not fullness. That's the real reason I avoid certain foods. For example , if I have a green salad at lunch, I am ready to gnaw on my knuckles within an hour and a half. If I add egg or chicken to it, I'm good until my next meal. We are all different , and you will find what's works and doesn't work for you. Enjoy the ride!

    mean people

I am someone who put it "all out there" . I would rather tell people than have them guessing or speculating about me. I feel this was the right solution for me because I do work with a "true "mean girls" clique who love nothing more than to belittle others. I left them no room to gossip about me. I definitely do not preach or push my choice on any other people, but I don't want to be the topic of conversation when I'm not around , either. 3 coworkers had asked me about my experiences and are also interested pursuing WLS . I'm glad I can help, if it had been a secret, I'm not sure how much help I would have been.

    I think I like stalls!

I also have love / hate with stalls. Every-time my weight loss stagnates, I drop a size instead. Everything shifts around during the little plateaus so I don't stress about it The skin issue is completely different for me. Mine is laughably saggy, baggy and boggy! Bat wings, pruned thighs and abs look like roasted marshmallows. It truly doesn't bother me , though. The doc says I already qualify for a paniculectomy but I have to wait till at least 12 months post op. That's the only work I'm planning .
  9. I couldn't stand my post-op vitamins They were chewable but I gagged on them. Since I am a cheapo at heart, to keep from wasting them, I crushed them and added them to apple sauce .It made them much more palatable, that's for sure! This would be completely appropriate at your postop stage . I did that for about 2 months. I now use gummy vitamins from Walgreens and have not experienced any deficiencies in my 6 months, and my labs were great. Make sure you take something though.

    Reached My Goal Weight Today!

Good for you! It must feel great. Was this your personal goal or your docs?
  11. I get these occasionally also. They are like sharp charley horses in your feet . I take a couple extra calcium chews and they definitely improve. I also tried a banana for extra potassium ( my original assumption about the spasms) but I didn't see much improvement . I had my labs drawn ; no deficiencies , all perfectly normal. You are right about the hydration , though. That should always be you first concern.
  12. Mine is "Timmy" , after Timmy from SouthPark. I pronounce it the same way the character says it which is kind of growlly . This is a funny thread!
  13. I also vote for a "fit and flare style". I just bought that style dress for a wedding next weekend. I am going to be with people/ family who haven't seen me in a while so I wanted my outfit to show of my progress without being over the top. At 6 months out, while I have dropped 7 sizes, I have not worked out enough to tame my saggy , baggy belly. I am not complaining, its just a fact that this fluff needs to be tamed by the right clothing, lol. The "fit " hows accenuates a smaller waist and the "flare" conceals a loose mid section easily. I love the wrap dresses and but I am still too self conscious about being a bit lumpy. Happy shopping!

A favorite item that you could do without

My most indispensable thing has been my iPhone. Without it, I am not sure what I would have done. All I know for sure is , my phone is my lifeline for my fitbit, my fitness pal meal tracker, and get-2-goal ( weight tracker) and of course this forum . It's been absolutely invaluable to me.
  17. Wowee! Looking super good:)

My CW is 170, goal is 164. Good luck to everyone and may scale be always in your favor. (I love Hunger Games!)
  19. I know you said you take vitamins, but does yours have iron in them? Iron is notoriously causes constipation. I know I can not take extra iron for this reason, My 6 month blood work was good even without extra supplements.
  20. I have been relatively successful with rebuilding my health and body since my sleeve almost 6 months ago.Doc says I have lost 77% of my excess weight so far. I can't say I have a lot of confidence yet, but I am trying to work on it by stepping out of my comfort zone in some way every single day. I am a work in progress and here are few things I would not have done 6 months ago. 1) Say no to bad choices like carb-a-licious Snacks. I do not feel deprived, so this one has gotten much easier for me.Chips and fries have lost their power over me. 2) Exercising when I don't want to (I still don't love it!) 3) Last week I took my first "selfie" ever. In the past , I was always the one who took everyone elses picture, so I wouldn't have to be in the pic. I bet a lot of us did that.I recently realized how much I stayed hidden in the background. 4) I must confess that I bought a "fit and flare" dress last weekend because it was a size 10 and it fit properly. Shopping for new clothes still stresses me out quite a bit, because I am not sure what size I am, or what looks ok at my age. 5) After dropping 7 sizes (22 to 10) I finally found the courage to cancel my Lane Bryant credit card and unsubscribed their emails. 6) Shopped for new bras at Victoria's Secret for the first time. The "secret" is , they only go up to size 38, and they still don't fit me. Won't be going back anytime soon. Hated this one, but hey- I tried something new. They are not all going to be home runs. 7) Ignoring toxic acquaintances. Life is too short to waste on people who do not truly matter to me. Especially my co-worker who commented that I could have lost the same amount of weight at Jenny Craig and surgery was "ridiculous" and a "lazy" way to deal with my "issues". I give myself props for not tipping her out of her desk chair. The old me might have done that, or obsessed about doing it! Smile and nod, and walk away. 8) I traded in some of my sensible flats and loafers for some pretty mid-heel pumps. I can wear them all day with out my feet hurting or swelling. 9) skinny jeans. 'nuff said. Especially when paired with aforementioned pumps. 10) I have always loved my hubby. I love him a lot more often now if you catch my drift. Lots of extra energy these days. He is not complaining about this one for sure! What new new found confidences have you experienced? I'd love to hear some from you
  21. Seela, I am loving the fun shoes and clothes right now. No crocs or sensible sandals this summer for me! Good for you too;)

    Coffee

I was off coffee for 4 months. I now am back up to 2-3cups a day . Honestly , it helps with my fluid intake. Doc has no issue with it , either.

    Having second thoughts...

I only found out my husband didn't want me to have surgery until after it was all done. When I asked him didn't speak up before , he replied that he did not want to be reason I did or did not do something for myself. He felt his priority was to support my decisions, whether he agreed or not. He's a keeper. Your life will change. In a way , so will his. Change is good. Check your reasons why want this. Doubts are normal at this stage of your journey.it helps to verbalize to your family why you are having WLS , but first make sure you believe it.
  25. At my 6 month post -op visit (I went 2 weeks early) my surgeon wants to make a poster of my 5 month pictures.. He called it a "total transformation". I find this ironic since I have never willingly showed pictures of myself in the past. I only made my before and after for this forum. I definitely have some body conscious issues and I am trying to work on them. I work for the same company that is associated with the hospital where I had my surgery, so it is pretty awkward for me. I'm a nurse at a sister medical center so many coworkers would see this. I have not kept my VGS a secret, but I hadn't broadcast it, either . While I am flattered, I kind of feel like it's flying my bloomers up a flag pole! What do you think?
