Welcome to WLS Lifestyles Magazine This is the WLS online mage that JudiM mentioned in a post above.
  2. Sounds like you are doing great. Can you tell me what blood thinner you were given? I will need Loevnox (sp?) and have never had any blood thinner and of course , I am hoping I tolerate this one. My mother has had DVT but, I have not, so the doc wants to be cautious. I am told I will need to have injections for a month. You are doing great in spite of that little set back regarding the blood thinner. (motel medical is an inside joke. when i was in the hospital having my first son my husband made a little Freudian slip !!!! and referred to the hospital as the "motel". wth?? i had just given birth to a 9 pound baby and he thinks i'm on vacation. what a guy.)
  3. Debbie, Your post helped to calm my pre surgery jitters today, thank you. Your comment about your experiences not being quite as dramatic as some really hit home. When I read a lot of the experiences it seems as though there are many negative, quite a few positive posts, BUT, I am guessing that the MAJORITY of bandsters are not at either extreme, but in the great big middle portion of people that don't have major issues or "PERFECT" experiences. They handle the petty, minor, annoyances and bothers and go about their day and don't think it is anything more than "dealing" with their choice. I am hoping that most of us will fall in the middle of the band scale and adapt our ways and don't think that what we do each day is anything to write home about!! But, it is important to relate the positive. Yes, your message is needed to add balance to the extremes. It was a message I needed to hear today, because my surgery is Thursday and I'm just a nervous wreck.

LINK: for emotional aspects of eating. covers wide range. Welcome to emotional eating ANOTHER LINK: for practical nutrition info. recommended by experienced bandsters, so it has to be good! Real Living Nutrition Ah, I'm making this up as I go...so, I'm thinking about making RESOURCES list with sub sections for books, one for magazines, one for online websites, etc. so please post any suggestions here and I will start to compile them so we have one thread to visit when we want to know the name of a cookbook, or magazine, or website.
  5. dreno, my band day is aug 23....holy moley, that's just a couple of days for us!!!!!!!!!! My surgery is scheduled for 11 am and my doc keeps his banders in the hospital over night. I was not thrilled with that idea but, posters have said they were glad to have been able to spend the extra time under watchful eyes...so, we shall see how I fare. How about you? Sorry, I am a wreck, I'm afraid I have not been very soothing, but, dang I do understand some of your apprehension. We're going to get this thing done and we're going to be the healthier for it!!

    Liquid PreOp

Sat Day 3: more of the same. slim fast, protein coffee, tomato soup. oh well, it will be worth the misery! Thankfully, it's only a week. Band Day is just around the corner--am flucuating between sheer terror and ecstasty. Am anxious to start losing and moving and feeling better in my skin but, afraid that it won't work for me and I'll be the trouble-laden failure of the century. Most likely I'll be somewhere in between but, if I only think of the two extremes right now I'll be pleasantly surprised when I end up in the middle of the road. Self-talk--it's more like "self-whine and cry"!!

  15. Hey Mr123, 8/23 is my band date, too. ONE WEEK AND COUNTING....7,6,5...it's getting close, it doesn't seem real yet though. Probably by next Thursday evening I'll be a basket case..I hope I don't back out. How are you doing in prep for the big day?
  16. Hi pmmegm, My pre-op is liquids only: cream soups, slim fast, protein drinks, yogurt smoothie-full liquids and today was day one. It's been okay--it feels like I have taken the next necessary step, and it feels terrific. Good for you on your YMCA membership! You may PM me or email me, I would love to stay in touch with you...we can compare notes and swap encouragement!

Ok. This liquid diet stinks---help me!!

I am sorry for your difficulty but, thank you for posting. It's was a wake up call for me and I found it very motivating. Why would we do ANYTHING to jeapordize the surgery after everything we've been through to get there!?? Again, I appreciate your honesty, thank you. My doc also said he would not convert to open if he had difficulty with the lap. But, hey, you are on your way now, girl! Good for you:kiss2:

  19. mermaidpuppy, i am 8/23, too! hurray for us! this whole process leading up to this band has taken 5 months but, looking back it hasn't seemed as though it has been that long since i made the decision to go to the informational meeting in april. are you on a pre-op liquid diet?
  20. Hi Picklebritches! I am 8/23, too! Yipee, one week tomorrow! Are you ready for the ride? I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster with emotions. Happy, sad, crabby, exited, thrilled, frightened--all within 10 seconds. Are you on liquid diet?
