    low bmi still obese

You need to do what is best for you. As big or formerly bigger people, we like to think we are not judgmental about other peoples size whether it's bigger or smaller. Unfortunately, some people are and comes out in ways that are not supportive and sometimes hurtful. I'm sorry you've felt this way. Everyone has their own story and reasons for wanting/needing WLS. Remember that and focus on it. Keep posting, then just read the posts that are supportive or helpful to you. Ignore all the rest! You can do it :-)
  2. I also got bad headaches like days 3 and 4 of my pre-op diet. I think it was my body adjusting to the really restricted diet. Day 5 and after I was fine. I didn't have as much energy, but it wasn't that bad. Once my body adjusted to the new diet, those things get better. Also my dr included carnation instant Breakfast sugar free in my list of approved Protein drinks. I would recommend one like that a day because it has a lot of other nutrients along with the protein. I hope this helps!

    Airline Weight Limits?

If you are really worried, it might be safer to just upgrade to first class. My dad is a bigger guy and he prefers to just do first class because it's a lot more comfortable with wider seats. I would assume its cheaper then buying 2 coach seats.

I'll be there :-) it's a bit of a drive for me too
  5. I can't believe that it's 85%. Yes many places say that it increases, but that is usually bc the relationship wasn't healthy to begin with. Many, many people on here have relationships that handle the surgery just fine, mine included. Your fiancé is going through a tough time. It'll gets easier the further out she is... That still doesn't mean she should be saying hurtful things to you. Talk to her about how your feeling at a time when she's in a normal state of mind (not upset about eating). Explain what you said to us. Try not to blame her bc that'll just make her defensive. Maybe you can have some sort of code word to use when she's upset and becoming hurtful to you, it'll clue her into when you are feeling hurt without extra talking that she could misinterpret. I would also recommend you talk to her about a therapist or joining a support group after you've been able to successfully talk to her about your situation at least once. If she was understanding about your feelings, she will probably be more receptive to hearing about her needing some extra support from you as well. I hope you've gotten some info that'll help you on here. Keep coming back with any questions!
  6. Are the weirdest and best words to hear from a complete stranger! Today while shopping, I asked a sales woman for help finding one size, but she was convinced I would where a smaller size. "You're so tiny!" She said as she got out her measuring tape. This was also not an average sized woman either! She was a twig in her 20's. I was shocked and she was right. I needed a size smaller... I've had a lot of fabulous NSVs lately :-) which is nice bc I seem to be stalled...

    MN - Minneapolis/St.Paul

I'm currently in Burnsville, but we are moving north this summer. I'm in the north/western suburbs all the time. I'd love to meet up with other people :-)
  13. I was normal until 7 years old, then started weight watchers for the first time by 9... I've been "obese" most of the 20 years since, with a few reprieves into the lower end of "overweight" due to short lived successful dieting. This is the closest I've ever been to being in the normal range for BMI in 20 years!

    Support for stomach

It does! I've always hated being giggly and it keeps me from giggling :-) it does not help you lose 2 dress sizes or whatever the infomercial says, but it certainly hold my tummy (and extra skin) in and it doesn't roll up like some other kinds of compression garments do. I've been wearing them for like 6 years under my professional clothes. Now I wear them under everything to keep a smooth/giggle free appearance :-)

    Support for stomach

I use kymaro body shapers. You can get them at walmart or drug stores that sell "as seen on tv" stuff. I like the camis because of the clear thin straps, but I think those you gotta find online (amazon/eBay). I know a lot use spanx which you can get almost anywhere. There are tons of options for things to suck your tummy in. It's all a matter of personal preference.
  16. People say things bluntly at times. They also sometimes react to a post rather then passing it by or letting them go, particularly the "I cheated posts." If someone is actually concerned about damage to their sleeve, they know to contact a doctor. I feel like most people post those because they either want validation that it's ok or they need a swift kick in the *ss. In case people haven't figured it out yet, you will get both reactions if you post that on here... As for the other topics that get heated at times, read the responses that are helpful and ignore all the other stuff. That's all you can do. Don't worry about the stuff you can't control.

    ONEderland!

Congrats! Onederland is an amazing milestone :-) Keep up the hard work!!
  18. For the most part my cravings are gone. It's all in my head and due to the situation I'm in... The first 6-7 months I tried to abstain from any and all of my trigger foods and I didn't have any cravings, until I was looking at it at a lunch/dinner, party, etc. Now I might have a bite or two of something I'm craving and I'm satisfied. That was NOT the case ever before surgery... Also I have found that some things I loved and craved prior to surgery, just don't taste good any more, like Reese's Peanut Butter cup. My fiancé had one and I took a bite... It just was not good to me anymore :-) Everyone is different. How we react to cravings, hunger, food situations is going to be different for everyone. Some people are very lucky with no hunger of cravings. Some people are somewhere in between...
  19. I also highly recommend park Nicollet and Dr Jones!! They are fantastic! The program is set up very well and they make everything simple to complete. Everyone I have worked with there from schedulers to nurses to hospital staff and doctors have all been amazing! Dr Jones is a great surgeon! Rated a top doctor for general surgery for a few years now. I actually requested him when I needed my gallbladder out and he fit me into his booked schedule when I needed it moved up a few weeks. He's a very caring and competent surgeon! His WLS stats are great which he's happy to share with you. I am extremely happy with my decision to go through them!
  20. I did the initial informational class in the beginning of March, but I didn't submit my paperwork until the middle of April. My first actual appt was April 29th and surgery was July 30th. Everything was submitted to insurance July 3rd and I heard back July 9th.

    4th of July Challenge

I weighed yesterday, but totally forgot to post. I'm up a smidge from Monday. Starting weight 171.9 Goal weight: 164 I think it might be a stretch because I'm so close to goal, but I have to shoot for a normal BMI. That'll be the first time I'll be in the normal BMI range since I was 6 years old!

    You're so vain...

I will also raise my hand :-/ I had no health issues yet, other then knee and back pain. Being over 300 lbs that's to be expected. Otherwise BP was good, sugars good, etc... I knew it wouldn't be long before I started having issues tho. Plus my very obese uncle's death was an eye opener... Overall tho, I really wanted to be happy with my appearance. I wanted to be comfortable going shopping. I really wanted to stop feeling like I was being judged everywhere I went. I wanted to get married and start a family with my bf, but I could imagine having everyone staring at me for a whole day... My health reasons were eventual, but certainly going to be an issue. My vanity was the main one for doing it now... Plus I just got tried of all the failed diet attempts. There's a point where 15 years of failed dieting is enough!

    4th of July Challenge

Anyone at any point is welcome to join. Just post your starting weight and July 4th goal tomorrow. Then come back every Friday (or whatever day you prefer to weigh) to report in :-) Remember after surgery you will retain some water so the following week might not be what you think, but it'll get better after that comes off. Good luck!!

    Having Second Thoughts

I was second guessing my decision right up until they put me under in the OR... Second guessing is completely normal! I had a dream the night before where I actually ran out of the OR. I'm so glad I didn't change my mind! I've had moments where I've thought this sucks or why did I do this to myself... However everything other minute trumps those moments. All the successes and things I can do now that I could before makes me glad I kept my butt on the OR table!
