Help My husband is forcing me to eat.

Wow, sorry to hear this. it sounds like a control issue. Why don't you remind him that you need to eat according to what the doctor and surgery requires. He shouldn't be pressuring you into eating more, it is counter productive. If I were you, I would call the doctor and have him speak to the doctor directly. I mean, it sounds like someone needs to get through to him, other than yourself. Who better than your surgeon?

    Exercise after Banding

Thanks, it sounds like a good plan. it doesn't sound like a good idea to jump into resistence training right away. I would be afraid to do that.
  3. you have to redo your signature and ticker
  4. Hi all: I have heard that it is important to be hydrated because there can be complications with the surgery if you are dehydrated on that date. Does anyone know anything about this?
  5. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Amen
  6. why did you have to sign a form? is it dangerous?
  7. Well, you know 33 lbs is nothing to sneeze at. Ask yourself if you would have been able to even do that in previous years. I think you are doing great
  8. I'm drinking water right now friend. Lots and lots of water.

NYer going to NYU med center

Yeah I'm excited. I'm making myself a ceviche to say goodbye to shrimp tonight. LOL - I go on my liquid Proteins tomorrow morning! I will let you know what happens! /nilsa
  10. Wow, that pretty much sums up what I needed to know. LOL thanks
  11. DLW: 50 years old is not too late at all. I am being banded in NY on 8/13 and although I am 42, I met a lot of people over 50 at my surgeon's office who are so happy and one in particular, I met in March of this year. She was 55 years old and she was extatic about her results. She had lost like 58 lbs since the previous December. I would say that is great!
  12. Wow! You are very inspiring. I chose the band and have not been banded yet but I am too afraid to do the gastric and two girls at work are blowing up and gaining a lot of weight after the gastric surgery because they are not respecting their bodies - and that is scary because they are stretching that little stomach that is left after the bypass. One person is doing well but the other too - should have been way thinner by now but they are messing it up big time. I like the idea of being able to remove the band if anything goes wrong.
  13. August 13th for me. Good luck to everyone

that's great to hear. I will be going under the knife on 8/13. I hope I feel the same way you do

    Newbie in NY

Hi: Where are you going to have your surgery? I am having mine on 8/13 at NYU. There are other considerations when your BMI is not morbidly obese. sleep Apnea, Diabetes, and things like that. They are called co-morbidities. You should be ok though as long as your doctor monitors you and puts you on a supervised diet for a min. of 6 months.

    I hate my insurance company

I hope that changes for you. I hope your company revises their plan. How much will it cost where you live. I could never ever pay for this surgery myself here in New York. It is a minimum of 25K for the facility that I chose.
  17. There are two people here at my office who did the bypass and they are gaining weight like you wouldn't believe. And, they eat all the things they were not supposed to be eating, even though they end up sick - so I have a different opinion about this (from what I have seen first hand)
  18. Ummm, I think you should be looking at this in a positive way. You are doing amazing. 209 to 172 in exactly 2 months? I wouldn't necessarily be complaining right now. You are doing great.
  19. did you ever go for your surgery?
  20. You are very very cool! I want to be you in a few weeks!
  21. Hi Everyone, Im not banded yet for a couple of weeks still but I am reading stuff that I do not understand. What does "sweet spot in the band" mean exactly? There are other terms that I don't understand, like PB'ing. What is that? thanks to everyone who responds. /n.:ranger:

Aetna - 5 years documentation??? Help!

My surgical coordinator told me the same thing. The reviewer who denied me was a nit picker and he wasn't budging at all even though he had all the information and my records dating back to 95 regarding obesity. But that is over and done with.
  23. Thanks so much for responding. I appreciate the link also. How much have you lost so far? /nilsa
  24. Julie: You lost an average of 12 or so lbs a month right? wow. was just looking at your ticker. You are an inspiration!
  25. Thanks Jacqui and Julie! I could understand what you mean Jacqui because you are taller than me but i'm at 239 and my bmi is much higher, given the fact that i'm only 5ft 1inches tall. I am trying very hard to stay syked and be happy about this decision. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again!!!
