  1. Can it be my stomach can't take these anymore. What am I todo

I had the same problem, certain things just couldn't do post op, so I have to switch my Protein Shakes and so on. Prior to surgery I was all for Premier Protein and then right after surgery I just couldn't do it. I have now switched to EAS which I get from target in a four pack and they have a variety of flavors. There was a list of changes following surgery, but never a regret. 6 months post op and down over 120 from day of surgery. Wishing you nothing but the best and please keep us posted!

  2. Hey Diva!

Not creepy at all, I myself was a little bit if a stalker of the site before I started getting into it and posting. Doctor Singh did my original surgery, and following the hospital stay I switched to Dr. Benetti who is right in the same practice. Doctor Benetti did my revision. Albany Medical center is now suturing the stomach to tissue when they do the sleeve to prevent anything like what happened to me happening to other people in the future, which is really rare! At least, I have been told they are now doing this and started to a month or so after I had mine. I really look forward to your updates, as I'm sure everyone else does because all post, especially local really help us out whether we are just lurking or posting. I truthfully went through hell with my revision, but under no circumstance do I have ANY regrets what so ever. I have never felt better, down over 120 pounds since date of surgery! I'm glad you have finally come out of lurking and decided to post and introduce yourself :-) Do you go to the support groups at all?

  3. I walked a ton of extra steps and ate less and better last week... And only lost half a pound! Grrrr! But two new pairs of jeans in another size smaller say I am still shrinking. The dog adoption is happening April 19! We're so excited to be bringing her home!

That's both great news brick! I bet you and the family are excited!!! Sounds so exciting! Hopefully pictures are to come :-)

  4. Yeah some doctors will do it, but for assurance and safety Singh removes and then go back in 8-8 weeks after. He's a great doctor, I just very much didn't agree with his bed side manner following the sleeve so I switched to Bennetti, plus Bennetti is super hot. Lmao. Didn't hear it from me! Lol

Ment 5-8 weeks, my apologies for the typo.

  5. Olah everyone!

Sorry I've abandoned the forum since my revision on March 18th, but things have been hectic and have finally settled down a bit, and in feeling a lot better. I've been up and getting out and walking and keeping up best I can with liquids. In the start I needed a push, and Julie gave me a quick swift in the rear so I had to get onto it and drink, which of course I did. She looks innocent, but when she threatens to hunt you down and put you six feet under if you don't get in your 64 oz of fluids, it's scary as hell. Lmao. Jk. Anyways, feeling better and making progress and pretty much feeling better and better each day and it feels good to be finally walking around and getting up for a couple hours a day. Should be back to normal in another two weeks or so. Wishing everyone the best!

Brick: Looking awesome keep it up! Also, what's going on with the pup? End up adopting?

Julie: Your looking amazing keep up the good work and thanks for the visiting in the hospital and for your support and being there! That visit ment a lot to me, even though I was doped up like no tomorrow! I appreciate the on going support we give each other!!!

Cherrie:Thanks for all the worries and thoughts and being there durning the revision, even though your 3 hours away, your texts and thoughtfulness was oh so sweet! I'm so glad you had your official first appointment and trust me, these next few months will fly by!!

Everyone else: Keep up the good work, know the preop worrying is totally normal and if you weren't then I don't think that would be normal! Lol. It gets easier. It truly does. Just keep a positive attitude and know there is great support systems out there! Looking forward to everyone's future post and updates! :-)

  6. No ..even though I do not have any issues (band slip, erosion etc) my dr (Dr. SIngh ) makes you wait 5-6 weeks to give the stomach time to heal and get back to a semi-normal shape.

Lol

  7. Hello Albany members..Even though I have been lurking on this site for a few months, this is my first post. Just wanted to introduce myself. My lap-band will be removed on 4/14 and my sleeve will be done on 5/19. This has been quite the whirlwind for me. I had my band placed in Oct 2008 and lost 45 pounds during the first year . I have been able to maintain the weight loss mainly because the band made me bulimic - unless I ate slider foods. I did not go for a follow-up almost 2 years because I knew I was not on track or following the program. I also had multiple ankle surgeries over 2011 & 2012 which put my band on the back burner) So in Jan 2014 I decided to go for a follow up just to make sure the band was not slipped etc.I had no issues other than the ability to eat anything of substance. That was 1/30 and two months later I am scheduled for band /sleeve revision. I had no intention of doing this sleeve when I went to see my dr ..I really did not even know what it was. But after a lot of research I have decided this was the path for me. I decided to stop lurking in the shadows because I wanted to thank everyone for posting their stories and taking the time to answer everyone's questions. This forum was an incredible resource for me !!

Hey Diva, welcome officially to the forum :-) So glad you made the decision to move forward with the revision. Doctor Singh did my sleeve 6 months ago, October 7, 2013. I have since switched to doctor Benetti. Since the sleeve I am officially down over 120 pounds, and that was six months ago. I did have one complication and I had to go in for surgery, but no regrets what so ever. As you can see, ppl on the local forum have had great success. We here in the capital district area have some kick a$$ doctors! I am going to be going to the Monday support groups at 25 Hackett starting Monday, they are during the day. I was attending the evening ones they have every Thursday, but I have decided to switch due to the only little 'click' they have. I heard Mondays are very different. Maybe you can make it. It's truly the greatest decision I have ever made and no regrets what so ever and I've met some amazing people along the way. I recently got the meet Jules, aka the new sleeved Julie from the forum when I had to go in for revision on March 18th, it was so great meeting her in person and we really hit it off. Weve been support and friends outside of this forum which was expected but has been a great experience. And even though Cherrie from the forum in a couple hours away we have really clicked to. It's been a great experience and I say take advantage of the forums and groups and really get involved. You need all the support you can get! Anyone that's had the surgery and knows two plus two will tell you to take advantage of the support. Wishing you the best and looking for your updates :-)

  8. <Tap, tap tap> Is this thing on??? LOL - It's quiet in here... here... here... Well, after an almost three year hiatus, I went back to work this week. I am working downtown on Elk Street from 9-2 and I love it. It was a great week. I walked the concourse a lot and dropped another three pounds this week, bringing my total to 60 pounds since surgery! A couple weeks ago, I saw a courtesy post on a local dog adoption site about a blind pit bull and I fell in love. I couldn't stop thinking about her. My daughter and I went to meet her yesterday and she is amazing. She was born without eyes so she's never known sight. She has no idea that she's different. Things are looking good for us and I hope to bring her home to be with us within the next couple of weeks. There's a process, especially with a blind dog, and we're using the help of an animal behaviorist/trainer.

What is the status with the adoption of this pup brick? Hoping all is well!

  9. Anyone and everyone please help! I had my surgery consult and my doc said he wasn't requiring me to get a sleep study but as my insurance had already covered it I went ahead. Sleep study revealed I have severe sleep apnea and now I'm supposed to wear the cpap machine but I have anxiety anyway and the thing sent me into a full blown panic attack and I fled the machine fitting sleep study. I'm going to keep trying but if I can't do this I'm afraid I won't be able to have the surgery. I emailed my surgeon for his thoughts but just really need some support from all of you. I've had such angst over this whole thing so please be gentle in your responses. Just get over it or you have to do this is not what I can hear right now. I assume my surgeon wasn't going to have me do this because he recognizes that obesity and sleep apnea go hand in hand. Anyone have similar experiences to share or words of encouragement? I'm just beside myself with this. Thanks.

I was in the same boat. Didn't know I had sleep apnea till pre testing for surgery. I have anxiety and it went bazerk when I had to wear the mask. I did it because I knew the severity of sleep apnea. Not going to lie, occasionally I would skip it. Three months post op I DIDNT have to wear it and my sleep apnea went away! Keep positive! Best wishes!!!

  10. Hi, I am new to this forum and I am just trying to get advice. I am 8 weeks out and I am on solid foods. However, I am miserable. Please bare with me because this will be long. My surgery was done 4 hours away from where I live. When I went home I was experiencing pains, gas problems, infected incision, and problems drinking liquids. When I came in with my 2 week appointment I saw the PA and not my surgeon. So, I told her what was going on and how miserable I was. She stated that they were not going to give me pain medicine and put me on regular food, high Protein, low carb, little vegetable, and even less fruit diet with 3 meals a day no Snacks allowed. She also said that my gall bladder may need to come out because I was losing weight so fast. I was iffy about it but I trusted her decision. 4 days later and a pinky nail sized piece of chicken...went into screaming pain.I have NEVER screamed in pain in my 24 years of life. I cried and screamed. It felt like I was being murdered, the only thing I could do is force myself to vomit and go to the E.R. However, I walked out of the E.R. because the lack of professionalism there ( that is a whole other can of worms) so I put myself on a soft foods diet for about 1 1/2 weeks gradually incorporating firmer foods. Through out this I kept having spasms in my upper right side of my abdomen and tightening random stabbing pains in my stomach. So,I went as a walk in at my PCP office, they refused to touch me and told me to contact my surgeon to schedule me for testing. Contacted my surgeon and the nurse told me to come in tomorrow.I knew that was unlikely due to the distance and my money is kind of funny. So,I went to the E.R. the next day found out I was having and I quote "seizure like contractions" in my stomach. I was prescribed medicine to stop spasms and was sent home. 1 week later back at the E.R. for vomiting something bitter and pain on the upper right side of my abdomen that comes and goes. I had blood drawn to test for pancreatitis and gall bladder but they said it was not that.they x-rayed me. I was asked about my bowel movements and honestly I have very few and not much comes out. I was then told I was severely backed up and it was possibly squishing my intestine. I was given the stuff for colonoscopy prep and was instructed to drink it until my stool is clear.I took the prep and nothing too much came out before I pooped clear. So, I took a fleet enema, suppository, miralax, exlax, milk of magnesia (liquid and capsule), and the women's laxative ( all on different occasions of course) with little result. However, I was thinking positive because my appointment with my surgeon is on the 2nd and I will be tested and checked out. I called my surgeon's office to see what all they will be doing and do they need my records from m E.R. visits sent to them. I was told that they will not be testing me and the records are not necessary. We just want to weigh you and that is all... I was very upset. I just want to know what wrong with me. So, I contacted a local surgeon's office and see if they will see me and they said sure. So I have signed my medical release form and prayed that the appointment I have on the 11th will have results. However, I just got a call friday that my surgeon's office is not being cooperative with sending files and I do not know what to do. Sad to say I felt healthier before I had surgery than I do now. Everyday I think about what have I done to myself. Yeah its almost 100 pounds from my highest weight and 61 pounds from surgery. But good grief I am going through all of this! I just feel lost. I am trying to enjoy loosing weight. but I can't now. What do I do?

I had a similar situation and it turned out my stomach was twisting when I are. Very hard, sometimes not even possible to see on an Endoscopy and so forth. For me, I went back in on March 18th and had a sleeve revision where they took the stomach pouch and had to take the tissue and so forth and staple the stomach to the tissue and the wall to prevent twisting. The stomach twisting is very uncommon and I was lucky enough to have a knowledgable doctor whom had performed the surgery. I am now feeling amazing and it's made a hell of a diff. Please keep updating as I'd be interested in knowing your progress as well as to see if you have the rare complication that I did. Wishing you the best! I'm signing up for updates on this forum in case you have any questions as well as to see your progress. Best wishes!

  11. October rocks! I love how we are all keeping in touch! Sleeved 10/21, HW 250lbs, CW 179lbs... not as fast as some but I'll take 71lbs in 5 months any day! Here's a pic of my husband and me on vacation, me at about 250lbs and the next is me a couple weeks ago at about 183lbs

Wowzers! You look great! Keep up the great work! Truly amazing transformation!

  12. Truly amazing. I am so sorry you are in pain. I'm also thrilled for you for your progress and that they were able to "fix" you! I'll continue to keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. You're well on your way to becoming a great inspiration the likes of @[Rjs/Beginning].

Thank you Seela! I'm so glad, even with the pain they were able to fix me all up as well. The fixing is worth the pain ;) lol. Thank you so much for the prayer for a speedy recovery, it means a lot! Wishing you the best.

  13. Update On My Revision I Needed/had this Past Tuesday:

Sorry for the delay, hospital stay was a tad longer then expected and haven't felt in tip top shape at all. I had my revision done on Tuesday. I am still a sleeve patient, once they got in they ended up 'anchoring' the sleeve and adjusting it. Sorry, things have been pretty hectic. I got home from hospital, and am slowly but surely recovering. The pain is worse then what I expected, but manageable with the happy pills they have given me, and they have given me permission to take them closer together do to the pain. I did have to have a balloon cath done on I believe day two (I'm a bit foggy, not sure exactly what day it was). It was a long drawn out process and they had to get 800, which took a lot of tugging, yanking, twisting, pulling, time and so on, tmi I know sorry, but I now have a very bad UTI to add on top on my revision. Because of my Lupus I am placed at higher risk for infection, and this of course happened. I'm doing okay though and sorry I haven't updated, just been hectic with recently getting home from hospital and testing and taking it easy. They had me released with a walker because I'm a bit unstable, and feel a tad fragile, but so glad to just be home.I am slowly but surely getting better though. Patience is a virtue :-) The revision I had is not compare able pain wise to when I got the sleeve, as this revision is very painful and I really did not expect it to be this bad. I am down over 110 pounds since my surgery date of October 7, 2013 and that's encouragement enough for me :-) No regrets what so ever! Everyone is doing awesome, keep up the good work and thanks a lot of all the thoughtful comments, thoughts and prayers.

  14. Awe you are too cute! You looked great and I'm glad almost everything is going very well! I was super busy tonight so I couldn't stop up again but if you're here tomorrow you can bet your sweet ass I'll be there to say hi!

So great to see you Jules, really was! And the great part is....I actually remember it!!!! Lmao! They had me on some pretty good stuff (and still do I must say lol), and a lot is really foggy, but I remember you clear as day! Great seeing you in person and you look great! Keep up the good work!

  15. Okay, I'm getting a little worried about you, Kyle. Check in with a sistuh, will ya?

Sorry, things have been pretty hectic. I got home from hospital, and am slowly but surely recovering.
