  1. Even though we may all have had the same surgery it gets confusing because different hospital/programs go by different 'rules'. I was sleeved five weeks ago and am down 50 pounds. My program/hospital has a very high success rate and it focuses on protein, sugar and liquids. Obviously you want your protein in, and for sugar what we have has to have less then 10grams of sugar. It can get confusing since different programs have different guidelines. Hopefully my two cents helped lol. Best of luck.

    Terrible Psych Eval :(

I see your situation is pretty common. I am now five weeks post op from the sleeve and attend support groups every Thursday and it seems the eval is a bigger deal then people would think. Find a therapist on your own, and ask them PRIOR to meeting them there actual opinion on barometric surgery. You will be surprised to see how honest they are and you can get a feel from their response and their tone. That's what I did and it went just fine. Best of luck to you!! High weight:270 Start weight:252 Weight at day of surgery:232 Current weight:182

    Alex, Please Fix The Site.

I think it's horrible and very confusing compared to before. Don't like it at all... LOVE the support, but not the new layout as it's just not as easy. It's not just because it's 'new' to us, it's because it's just very confusing and so on. Please help!!!

Gotta Get This Off My Chest

Sandy, your awesome and I'm glad to know that someone else feels the way I do. I have run across this and I find very arrogant and rude, and immature. So, I second your thoughts/opinions and thank you for speaking up.

    Pre-Op Falling Out!

I would say to call the doctors office as we'll just to let them know so they are aware. I am five weeks post op (down 50 pounds :-) ) and I didn't have those symptoms. Are you taking vitamins as prescribed and getting in all the the protein and liquids? You'll be okay, it's a hell of a journey but we'll worth it!!!

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

I just got a new phone so no before surgery pics but I have a current one I took last night for my profile. Excuse the penguin pajamas as I was getting into bed when I took it lol. I was sleeved October 7th, so I am five weeks out and I am down 50 pounds. You all are doing and look great!
  13. I was sleeved October 7th, so I am five weeks out. I am down 50 pounds, and I also had the hernia repair. With or without the hernia repair some people get pain and/or discomfort on their left side. Remember there was a lot of air inside you when they operated, and your liver was also moved around and flipped and flopped. The pain on that side turned into just discomfort around week two and lasted till about week three. I was cleared for the gym and exercise week four. You want to exercise an hour a day, even of its 15 mins four times a day, which could include walking. As for the energy level, make sure your getting in your Protein and the multi Vitamin as well as the b12. I use the dissolve able sublingual cherry b12's. Your doing great, keep it up!!

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?

Ask your doctor what your excess body weight loss is, that will make you feel good I am sure. Mine was above average, it is estimated that over 15 months with this surgery that the average EBW loss is 55%, and I am at 38%. But remember, men lose quicker then women. Knowing you EBW percent since surgery is encouraging. I NEVER weigh myself at home, only when I go to doctors. Stay away from the scale, it's evil lol.

I was sleeved October 7th and I'm feeling amazing! I am down 50 pounds and doing great! Updated pic attached. Excise the penguin pajamas, I took it last night before bed lol.
  16. Shakes have never counted towards my liquid intake, pre op or post op for me.
  17. Not sure how far out from surgery you are, but if you are having problems with liquid another great way to get them down is by sugar free Popsicles. They were my savior the first couple of weeks. I found this lemonade, it's called Minute Maid 15 calories and it only has like 2grams of sugar in it. You can get it in the cold drink section of super market
  18. I know coffee and any kind of tea does not count toward my fluid intake, as well as the obvious milk. I was told water, and all kinds of juices count. Really everything but the protein drinks, coffee and any kind of teas, hot or cold. Hope that helped

    Albany, New York....?

For those locals here, please keep in mind the support groups. I had my surgery done at Albany Med and there is a support group every Thursday at 530pm. It's at 25 Hackett Blvd in Albany, first floor. It really is a great group and all are welcome. BTW my loves I am in 'ONEderland'!!! Surgery was. October 7th and down over 50 pounds and have lost 38% excess body weight (average is 55% over a 15 month period). So glad to feel the way I feel, I feel more energetic, full of life and yes for once sexy lol. Updated pic ignore the penguin pajamas as I took this a few mins ago lol. Nighty nights!!

  23. I had my surgery done October 7th, so I'm five weeks out and I have my good days and my bad days. I am down 50 pounds and I have noticed that Protein intake really does effect my energy level. The days I do good with my protein my energy level is a lot higher. I take three Vitamin b12 sublingual that just dissolve under my younger and are cherry flavored. Don't skip Vitamins, I do Centrum chewables. Hope this helped
