    Albany, New York....?

Julie~ A walk aid is a device that assist with the mobility for people with drop foot or lower paralysis. I had a stroke four years ago which left me with a drop foot and lower leg paralysis. I have a full leg brace that I wear under my pants that goes from the foot to my hip, and I move with my butt and upper area muscles. I did a month trial with the walk aid and I had FULL mobility with no other assistance. I was able to JOG, JUMP, be on my feet like a normal person, but insurance denied it. My and the doctors have pretty much ran out of options and boy have we gone through oh so many. This device is so small and not noticeable it really was amazing. Then they took it :/ So now i need to do all I can to get it paid for. Another $3,700 to go lol.

    Albany, New York....?

Julie, Different programs/hospitals follow different guidelines on how much of the stomach they remove. I did a lot of research with hospitals in the area and I was beyond confident with Albany Medical Center once I did all my research prior to surgery. Prior to surgery I discovered that St.Peters and Ellis remove a set amount percent and that Albany Medical Center safely removes a tad higher percent. So different ppl consume different amount by a sliver. Just stick with getting in that protein, in the start mine was as BrickHouse said and my go to was the Greek Yogurt, I loved the Choboni Tubed yogurt. My program has different diet guidelines which has turned out to be very beneficial and has really helped the weight loss. My program count sugars , protein and water. I stick with things that are under 10grams of sugar, more then 10grams of sugar and I don't have it. Protein comes first, 60-65 of protein a day, water, water, and more water, never think your drinking to much. Also, drinking out of a Camelbak has SAVED me! It helped my drink more and prevents air from entering while drinking which is what happens when you tend to drink out of a regular bottle or a straw. So glad everyone's doing well, and glad there is actual conversation going on in this forum seemed to pause for a bit.

Hey BrickHouse!! Congrats on your progress :-) I will say when you said you were a month out I was shocked that you were able to eat a half cup! Did u have the bypass or sleeve? 30 days out and 30 pounds, good for you! The PartyLite Party went well, it was actually a fundraiser event for something called a Walk Aid, it is a medical device I need and it was denied by insurance. It's a $4,500 device so I have a whole lot more fundraising to do, slowly but surely I will get there. :-)

    Albany, New York....?

I am eating when I remember lol. I have a Protein shake once a day and I eat a small meal, about three ounces. Some days I hit two meals at three ounces, but not often. I got a dog as a gift so I go for two walks a day, and I recently got the ad twister pro. It's a very basic sit down machine that works on the love handles, abs and arms. Love it and I can do it right in front of the tv lol. I pick and choose my battles. When going out with friends to dinner I know I am able to eat whatever at an extremely small portion, it's what I choose that matters. From a chicken tender I can eat less then half of one, and from that I am TOTALLY SATISFIED. Drinking the Water is also VERY important and cleanses your system. I do not do excessive work out at all. Sit on my rear on the ab twister pro, couple short walks a day and get in my protein as best I can! My taste buds have totally changed since surgery and i had to switch Protein drinks three times. I now am comfortable and enjoy VI Protein mix that can only be got online or Muscle Milk which has a good variety of flavors and for people that get EBT is can be paid for by that. (I am currently on disability). I had three month follow up and blood work this week and my blood levels have NEVER been so good! My cholesterol is perfecto as well as everything else. I've gone from I believe 16 meds to now 2. Best decision I ever made :-)

    Albany, New York....?

Well congrats! :-) About two weeks after surgery I was so tired on liquids and mushy foods! It wasn't the fact that I was hungry, it was the fact that I was just tired of that crap and wanted to try something real (took me a bit to realize that). On weeks two I sneaked a sugar free Reese's and let it melt in my mouth. Week three I snuck a very small stuffed mushroom (just the stuffing part). I needed to taste normal food lol. It didn't hurt me at all, three months out and down over 80 pounds, under the doctors goal weight already and 6 pounds from my personal (that's if I don't change it lol). The being hungry thing isn't really hunger, to me it was just wanting to taste normal food! When u are six weeks out from surgery and have something more normal you will realize your body wasn't hungry three weeks ago, but that it just wanted a change lol. CHEW everything VERY WELL You will be amazed when you get to solids how quickly you get full, but how SATISFIED you will be!!! I hope this helped :-)

PartyLite Party? Getting together tomorrow night from 5:30 till 7 with a few people and some bariatric patients for a PartyLite Party at my house. Would be a good opportunity to meet some of the locals. If interested please contact me snacks and non alcoholic drinks provided. Feel free to bring a friend/support!
  9. Melody~ For pre op your not racing the clock to lose so much weight so fast. Your goal/requirement is to lose a certain amount, they don't expect it gone in two weeks. Losing ten pounds in eight days is just fine, although depending how far you are preop I wouldn't do so much so quick. I started mine with have three appropriate sized healthly meals a day, no seconds. Then next I replaced a meal a day with a protein shake. Then next step replaced two meals a day. You can't do to much at once, it will make it harder down the road. I was sleeved three months ago today, October 7, 2013 and since my surgery I am down 80 pounds. Keep us post on your progress.

    happy new year!

You wouldn't be a human if you weren't nervous! You should have seen my the week before surgery, boy was I a mess lol. I look back to when I had my surgery three months ago and I laugh at myself for the anxiousness and nervousness I had. I expected the worse which is FAR from what happened. Think positive! Think about the outcome! The amazing results! The sexiness you will feel! All of it! I have never felt sexy in my 28 years until now. I went from having high blood pressure and being on three meds for it to three days after surgery not! Off two cholesterol medications. Off a seizure med! No longer pre diabetic numbers! And so much more! You got this girl , you got it!!!!! :-)
  11. Steph ~ If you feel like you may want to do your own little preop diet go ahead and do it, it won't hurt. Mine consisted of 24 hour liquid diet, pretty simple. I felt lucky compared to some of the pre op diets I've seen some ppl have, yikes! Lol.

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Backtobard~ Me and you are sleeve buddies!!! We were sleeved the same day :-) Sleeved: October 7th, 2013 Weight at date of surgery: 252 Current Weight: 170
  19. As a male, I am 5'7 and weighed 250. I was sleeved three months ago, October 7, 2013. I now weight 170, down 80 pounds. If the surgery wasn't right for you, the surgeon wouldn't be doing it. Also, sometime people around the individual that had the weight loss surgery may view someone as being to thin or this or that just plain out because they are so used to seeing that person in a heavier form. The surgery is the best thing I have ever done. I am currently below doctors goal weight at three months out and have 5 more pounds till I reach my personal goal weight. You will be fine :-) no worries! First pic is day of surgery, second pic is current. Sleeved three month ago, October 7, 2013 Start weight: 250 Current Weight: 170
