I am taking 3weeks' date=' plus a 4th week of already planned vacation time for Xmas.[/quote']
I'm scheduled Dec 13. Theoretically am going back January 2 after our company break. I do a lot of bending and lifting and stand all day so I guess it depends on the surgeons recommendation :/

I spent a few hours last night reviewing this topic and now have doubts and worries and all kinds of swirly thoughts and potential dread! The practice said they don't submit anything they think has a chance to be refused' date=' I hope their right.
Here is what I know, 6 month diet done, bmi 39, sleep test resulting in a positive diagnosis for sleep apnea, GP recommendation, psych eval - was all good enough for them to submit.
The insurance is Anthem BCBS out of TN, seeing other's anthem experiences it seems a little all over the place, so I don't really know what to think. The insurance company said its under nurse review and they have 15 days to render a decision.
If anyone has experience with Anthem in TN, I would love to hear!
Thanks[/quote']
I don't have anthem but I'm in the same boat as you- did the 6 month hoop jumping and bariatric review board was yesterday, should be submitted today. It's easy to get freaked out since everyone's requirements are SO different isn't it? hang in there!

Happy Halloween ...more importantly to me, today is the day of my bariatric review board meeting. Everything gets submitted to insurance tomorrow. All preop appointments are scheduled. Fingers crossed and wish me luck!

Hi everyone! I'm Michele from Pennsylvania. My husband and I are both having surgery Friday December 13 ( thank heaven I'm not superstitious ) insurance gods permitting. We've done our entire 6 month program together so it's been pretty awesome. I tease the med people that we're their BOGO.
He has a lot of med problems that we're hoping will be corrected by surgery. Hes the former great condition athletic type that gained a lot when he stopped playing sports. I'm the short- always- been heavy girl who would strictly diet, get easily discouraged by minimal loss, eat, regain etc etc. Anyway- -we have ultrasound and endoscopy to go. 2 week lc diet to start black Friday and that'll be it! Nice meeting you all and best wishes! Stay strong!

I guess when December gets closer we will be more excited. To me right now it just feels like the waiting game. When I actually see an approved paper. Then I will believe it's real .I completely relate! Show me the paper with the big thumbs up, lol!

I've been following this site for 5 months as my husband and I began considering weight loss surgery options. Largely because of info gleaned on this site and the amount of support you give, we are now finishing up our 6 month ins requirement and today met with our surgeon. Insurance gods permitting we are both being sleeved Dec 15. Doing this as a team has so far been amazing. The wealth of knowledge here is impressive. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It's appreciated

My 6 months (thru bcbs) have to be completed consecutively but the actual dates in the month don't matter. Like everything else, seems requirements are across the board :/

I am not sure if that is the case with everyone. My best friend was denied because she had one month below the required BMI. So be be careful. She had gone through a lot to get approved since then. Ended up having to redo her 6 month diet. And all pre op testing.
Do you happen to know which insurance company she used? Thanks
-
Does anyone have updates on your insurance approval? I'm really curious as to what your results were. I still can't get a definitive answer from highmark and will be super bummed about being denied after 6 months of hoop jumping for being under by .1 on one weigh in. Thanks!

Me too! Hoping for an October date! Best wishes to you

I'm on 3 of 6 months. Though it is a drag I'm actually kind if thankful. I'm learning a lot, find my classes and seminars mostly beneficial and am using the time to gradually make some changes. I'm finding a lot of info so I'm asking more informed questions of my doctor and nut. I'm also finding out a lot about my current habits and reasons why I got to the point I need surgery. Imo the positives of the 6 months outweigh the negative.

At my consultation appt my BMI was 40.05. Now I have to do a 6 month diet to get approved. My question is will I get denied if my BMI drops below 40 prior to surgery?? My coordinator assures me that the starting weight is the only one that matters but I'm not sold. I don't have any comorbidities and my insurance is BCBS.We are in exactly the same situation- same bmi same insurance. Today I had my third app. Weighed in at 39.5 and was not happy. At all. Doc and every one else was reassuring but there was too much' I can't imagine it'll be an issue' and " I think it'll be fine " for my comfort. First time in my life I wanted to be fatter or have comorbidities. How crazy is that?
Call insurance. In theory that's a great idea. I cannot find one blasted person that can or will give me an answer. It's really frustrating. Hopefully you have better success than me. I'm trying very hard to keep an " if it's meant to be it will be " attitude but its a challenge. We'll just have to stay positive together

My husband and I are both in the middle of our 6 month pre surgery phase. If all goes well insurance wise we will both be sleeved by the end of the year. It's been wonderful having a partner in this new way of life
