    Any Florida Sleevers here

He also did mine. I've been very happy with him, the staff and the entire experience. I'm seeing him today for my 1month follow up.
  2. Everything I liked before urgery, including the chewable vitamins, I couldn't stand after surgery. Thank goodness for the unflavored Unjury. I could mix it into what I could tolerate...and yogurt.... Saved me during the first 2 weeks

I LOVE my Ninja! I have the one with the cups-to-go. Frozen fruit,ice- no problem. And priced right. And I use the unflavored unjury.... It is undectable . I put it in Jello, Crystal Light and Soup

    Sleevers!

I had the same thought. I was waiting for the 'fullness' and it didn't come, but trust me it will come. I was a bit foolish and tried to push it and ended up 'getting sick'. Follow the plan, trust the process....you'll do great!

    wondering

You shouldn't need a drain after VSG. The RNY's need one, but not the VSG's. Surgeons check for leaks while your in the OR. I also had a contrast swallow the next morning to double check for leaks. there is a lot of swelling on your stomach after surgery and it can be really tight making drinking fluids a whole new experience, and not necessarily a fun one. I was able to manage one shake a day, plus Jello, popsicles and Water. i also had unflavored Protein that i could mix into the Jello. it was 7 day before i tried pureed fruit and was able to manage yogurt. I'm now almost 4 weeks out and was able to manage most of 2 scrambled eggs. just take it slow and easy, listen to your belly. If it goes on more than 2 weeks, let your MD know...
  9. Good luck getting a US MD to follow you after surgery. You will need frequent lab testing, like every 3 months in the first year to check on deficiencies. Then there is nutritional counseling if your having problems. At my surgeon's office, you will pay a $500 transfer fee to get to see him which insurance doesn't pay and every NUT visit is $60. I see my NUT every month and I have access to her by email daily. I'm confident there are good surgeons in Mexico..... but its the aftercare that will keep you successful....imho.

    BM issues

A real easy way is to have some diabetic candy. It is loaded with Sorbitol which provide a 'laxative' effect. You have to figure out how much you need. If your sensitive to sugar alcohols it won't take long. Mag Citrate.... Oh, I gag at the thought...... Also, I you like tea....Smooth Move or 'dieters Tea' has senna in it. Usually works over night. Be sure you're drinking water

    Liquid Protein, anyone?

The IsoPure at GNC is also good. I'll have one shake a day, but later will have soup or something I can add the unflavored protein too. It keeps me sane and give me protein and variety

    Strange feeling in stomach

Oh YES! I had surgery 3 weeks ago on 8/28. I usually feel it when I've eaten something that my stomach just doesn't like. It only takes one bite. I think I keep it filled with water most of the time so I have yet to really the experience of empty.

    Pain lots or little?

I had surgery 3 weeks ago. I was in the hospital one day and went back to work, a desk job, one week later. Transitioning from sitting to standing and vice versa was rough and getting out of bed, but other than that the pain/ discomfort was very manageable. Tylenol was adequate 3 days later,. This was my 4th abdominal surgery. One was open and the other 2 laparoscopic. This was a piece of cake comparatively.

    East Texas stall

Increase your protein, decrease your carbs and drink plenty of water. Your protein should be about 60 grams and if you really want to rock your carbs, bring them down to about 80 grams.

    Crabmeat?

Just had my first taste of Alaskan salmon I cooked on the grill. It was only 3 ounces, but it was awesome!

    Help!

The unflavored protein was my life saver post-op. I used the Unjury, although I understand the IsoPure at GNC is also good. I mixed it with Jello, Crystal Light, Broth and pureed soup. I get tired of the sweetness and aftertaste in the shakes. I also ate (still eat) a lot of Plain Greek Yogurt that I add stevia and vanilla extract. You can also use the Mio or any of the squirt water enhancers to flavor the yogurt. One cup is 21 grams of protein. I was amazed how much my taste buds changed after surgery and what went down easily pre-op just didn't have the same appeal post-op. The Unjury Chicken soup (broth like) was also great. With the variety of tastes I'm able to get my 60 grams of protein in per day.

    Crabmeat?

I'm week three and had no problem with shrimp. Be careful with imitation crab....look at the ingredients and nutrition profile. It has things in there we shouldn't be eating. Stick with "real" food.
