  1. Thanks. I added that and Adkins. Can't believe I forgot that one.

  3. That is what gets me about the one size fits all approach after surgery. They have your money and now its like here go take a pill and bye.
  4. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_146406.html
  5. I agree with the above. LOL
  6. Hey here is one: what do people define as "good carbs"? I would say berries, bananas, dates, corn. What is everyone elses' take on this?
  7. I can manage more like 5 meals a day ... assuming no nausea and no throwing up. I'd love some cheesecake. Some tail - I was looking forward to that at 6 months out. Looks like you've got something good going there. My question is: does your docs' office help you with this or do you do it yourself?
  8. Escape Pod this is what concerns me: the lack of aftercare. It is due to that that I have developed issues. This is something that is not widely publicized but is well known that after they get the $$$ for the surgery, that's where they make their money, outside of getting you back for the data for ASMBS or their records, there is no reason for them to have anything to do with you. Unless you sing their praises to bring in more $$$$.
  9. Soy is also a problem for me. Same for lots of food restrictions. What about eating as vegetarian as possible? That's what I do.
  10. Agreed great job.
  11. Would you like to be in my shoes? Untreated malnutrition goes to neurological damage, eventual eye surgery for cataracts, sight problems, vein issues ... the list goes on.
  12. Oh heck no. The ones I know do, but I've got a couple that could use "surgery". LOL. I'm not judgemental. I work with Hindu's. I laugh and told them they put a curse on me. Used to I could eat every meat under the sun (we've tried kangaroo, ostrich, deer, rabbit, etc.) and after the surgery and everything went odd, I could manage chicken and turkey and that's it. This year the chicken went odd a few times. Yes, the ones I know do eat a good amount of carbs. I'm not in your face. If someone wants to know, I say but I don't do it for any reasons other than I can't eat a lot of other foods. PS I would feed a dog and cat meat because they're carnivours. We're omnivours. If someone doesn't want to eat meat, ok by me. If you want to eat McDonalds' and the like all the time, you have a death wish but I don't call that food or meat. That is called digging your own grave with a knife and fork.
  13. Howdy!!! Send me a message and I'll give you my email if you like. Let me clarify: I can and do eat chicken and turkey but it isn't a lot. I've had a few reactions to chicken at times and have to bug off. I'm in a lot of vegetarian/vegan groups. Plus my Protein powders, etc. are vegan/vegetarian. I've got problems with red meat, fish/shellfish, nuts/tree nuts and dairy, but I know a lot of what the "gang" uses in terms of stuff you could have.
  14. Hey, I am sorry to hear this. Let us know how you are doing. Not a good thing.
  15. for those of you who do this, just an FYI to look at this link. It is not the Protein deal you think it is. http://blog.fooducate.com/2014/06/01/cheerios-protein-cereal-sugary-hype-not-much-more/
  16. Eat your veggies that are protein: beans, peas, chickpeas, broccoli, spinach, etc. Put protein on salads or mix in with the dressing (YES!).
  17. Posted on this in another area but you can still get problems even with supplementation. You're exactly 100% correct. Still shouldn't be on PPI's long term. Like HRT, they were never meant to be a forever thing. As for calcium, there are several ways of testing that. Blood serum, ionized, and then urine calcium. The combination can actually tell you a LOT about whether or not you are utilizing the bones or not. I'm around your age and I have DEXA scans every year now. Not only do I have every risk on the planet for it, but my female members ALL are or were on biophos. and they're bigger, taller, etc. than I am. On top of that, my last DEXA scan showed a significant drop in one hip and a drop in the other that wasn't significant.
  18. Did you check in the Protein forum? An excellent post/link was just put up there.
  19. This is fabulous! Thanks for posting and sharing. Learn more new stuff.
  20. Dehydration - try fluids. Banana bag and then a regular IV bag.
  21. This is true and glad you have found someone to take care of you. I'm really paying the price for the lack of after care, so it is comforting to know a few people are getting it. I have another couple of people I'm talking to that the aftercare isn't there. Very concerning. Something I preach about - asking your doctor about aftercare.
  22. I'm so very sorry for your problems. That is so horrible. I'm sure we all here wish you the best and hope things work out. I had malnutrition but it was quick, now its slow. I'm starting to have problems with shaky legs and the like. It appears I have some other food issues & motility issues that are my problem. So I can get an idea of what you're going thru but nothing as rough as that. Do they know why all this happened? Any way to give you an answer or closure?
