  1. Wow! I can't help you there but I can say I admire you, you are doing an outstanding job. Impressive.
  2. Tiny Vanilla Bean Frappe at Starbucks.
  3. It looks like my post didn't go through. Eating healthier is making me somewhat healthier. The PCOS & endo are basically nonexistant but I'm on surpressive meds.
  4. I also forgot to add that I do mostly vegetarian. I'm not a big meat eater but endo/PCOS is the least of my worries when it comes to food.
  5. I have endo & PCOS (or used to in the case of PCOS). How can we help?
  6. At that early out I didn't worry about protein first. Water first/liquids, then protein.
  7. Yes, follow Garth Davis, the bariatric surgeon. I do, he is heavily onto the vegetarian/vegan thing. I am quite close to vegetarianism. Influence of a lot of vegetarians I work with (some do eat chicken, they are from different Indian states, so I don't think it has to do with that).
  8. Have you gone back to your doctor? What have you tried of the suggestions for getting back on track on the forums?
  9. Here is one many don't think a lot of: spices. Stop the constant salt salt salt on everything. I rarely use it. I use and try all sorts of herbs, herb combinations. It can help the same old thing become new. Vic
  10. Talk to the surgeon at this point.
  11. Yep. Although if you want some help, rent a tri bike. You will totally totally notice the difference. I mean big time. It will be so much easier on your body and legs on a tri bike vs. the regular bike.
  12. The problem is that that is way way too short. A 1 mile run and 7 mile bike ride does not put the stress on the body like that 16 miler would. A 200 meter swim is 4 laps. 1 mile run is nothing. I did a marathon at 100 lbs overweight. You'd be surprised with the right mindframe what can be accomplished. Remember, she goes up and then back down 10% for the weeks. Are you on the uphill or downhill? That sprint tri is a smaller sprint tri than I had and the triathlon would be a rest day. She needs to be prepared for the thon. If you run the 16 early in the morning, then stretch and hydrate and eat the rest of the day, I would certainly do it. Do you have a tri bike or regular bike? That makes a difference.
  13. First question: what kind of shape are you in? Are you doing like a brick on Friday evening, then long run Saturday and then 10% back on Sunday? Reason why I ask is that I had a very heavy (read my coach wouldn't have done) schedule in the past but I practiced beyond it. I wasn't looking for PR's but I was looking to finish. Because I did past the level of what was required of me, I completed everything. The biggest question: what is your mind set like? That is going to determine more than anything if you can do it or not.
  14. @@Ryan TN Think bricks. Start sooner rather than later. PS There are some good tri teachers out there. There is BIG difference between pool swims and open Water swims. Are you on specific tri groups or the like? The other big issue: make sure your legs are in GOOD shape. The swim can work the arms, but then you go from the bike to a run, which is a lot on the legs. Make sure they can hold up. Let us know your progress. Remember 37% of Americans can't swim from 1 end of a SCY pool to the other. No matter what, you are in a special group of Americans.
  15. I was pretty fit before the surgery. It made things a lot easier after. I did have a slight blip that day but otherwise, getting rid of food sure helped me. I was swimming and walking and biking before the surgery, doing light cardio and exercise machines. I had to stop all but the walking the first 2 weeks. The incision didn't heal well. It sure bugged me during the 10k I did 3 weeks and a day after surgery. My knees were hurting from all the walking I did. I did that much more but lost 27 pds the first month. It helped to go swimming 2 days from a month out.
  16. Totally agree on all the postings. So very excited for you. May you have the same luck and fun I did in my first triathlon.
  17. Did you try talking with your surgeon's office? How about google? There are simple ways: cutting out sodas, calorie drinks, less trips to fast food and replacing with veggies & fruit that are fresh and not fried. Have you started walking?
  18. @jess9395 Its a specific group/area for that purpose. Cheering you on and congratulations!! I remember the thrill of the Distance Series, the first marathon, my summer halfs. May your memories be just as enjoyable!
  19. I did a 10K 3 weeks and a day post op. Slowest I ever did but I completed it. I've done road/running races, triathlons, but more recently I've stuck to swimming. Any way I can help I will. There are also names of bariatric athletes we should pass around.
  20. How about a group or place or forum for those who are looking to compete? This can be in any sport. This means timed 5K's, marathons, half, triathlons, you name it. This would be a group for support for those entering and those who want more information and want to enter. Get involved! Get out there and keep weight off, get off old habits, get used to a more active life and see yourself as the athlete you can be or are.
