  1. Hi all, I'm scheduled for July 24th!! First surgery of the day :) I am 36, wife, full time employee of a major health insurance company and mother of four awesome kids! I am SO ready to get this show on the road. I just had my 7.5 hour information class, completed all of my pre op testing and have my pre op next Tuesday the 9th.

I am hoping to find some Arizona sleevers that I can pair with to maybe meet up and hang with once in a while just to keep up accountability. Anybody here?

  2. I am looking for some July 24th buddies.. that I can talk with before and after surgery. I am the first surgery of the day in Scottsdale, AZ and must say I can't wait!! I just went to my manditory 7 hour seminar that went over so much. I feel even better now that I've done that.. Pre Op appointment in in less than 2 weeks on 7/9 and before I know it.. I'll be walking off my gas lol.

  3. Yay you! I'm just in the beginning stages myself...first appointment on 07 July. So you went to the support groups before your surgery...I've been wondering if folks did that...did you like them? Will you continue to go now that you are on the "the other side"?

Where are you located? I am in Avondale. I am having my surgery with Scottsdale Bariatric on 7/24.. if your close enough I would love to share this journey with you :)

  4. Just got word this morning that I have been approved. My chart has been passed onto the schedulers and I will hear back by Friday with a date! This has been a year in the making, and to say that I cried like a baby when I got that email is an understatement :)

  5. I have my very last appointment Monday once I"m done with that, I should only be waiting on submission to Cigna and a surgery date!!! I have been thinking and wanted feedback. I have an hour lunch each day and a gym in my office.. Do you think there is a "best time" to workout, or could I just use my lunch break to use the gym? Does anybody else do this.. then I wouldn't have to when I get home, and that gives me more time to spend with my family and I won't have to watch all of my friends eat for an hour lol!!

  6. What part of AZ do you live in? I'm in avondale.. you can come over here lol. Really though,I am still pre op so I really don't know how my reaction and responses would be after surgery, but you shouldn't feel like this. I know how my husband used to get with a toothache and remember.. men don't handle pain like us ladies, so he may be very frustrated with himself and is taking it out on you. You should get out for a bit and let him think about his behavior.

  7. Or does there have to be an underlying issue? I mean, yes I have a hectic life, but I can't blame that on my weight. I didn't get big because I was unhappy or because I was emotionally scarred, I got totally unhealthy because one, I am lazy and never really found an exercise I actually liked (until after I was big and it hurt to do it) and two because I love food... The idea of wasting food that taste really good is a problem for me. My hardest thing is having a good dinner, and not finishing what I served myself.. I know that this is going to force me to slow it down and it will allow me the "tool" to stop me from overeating.. I know this is the right choice for me.

I just wanted to get your thoughts.. do you think deep down I am really scarred somewhere inside and I just haven't discovered it, or has anybody just been in love with food the way I am..?'

I know it's a nerdy question because nobody really knows me, but I wanted to know if this is the case with more people than I think.

    Thanks!!

  8. I am 3.5 weeks into the journey and its harder then I thought it would be. Its not an easy way out. BUT I am SO thrilled that I have done. Honestly I don't think there is any other way I was going to really lose all this weight and keep it off for the rest of my life. I know believe I can and will do it!!

What have the hardest parts been for you StayingStrong?

  9. I am getting closer to becoming approved for my surgery.. in the mean time, I sit and let my mind go crazy.. Today's thought... I wonder if those that have had the surgery are really happy? Does your life really improve mentally as you are progressing?

I know that the sleeve is the choice for me, I just think that I am really starting to realize that this is really happening.. so I've got all of the emotions I know most of you had.. :) Thanks!!

  10. You have to think back to say March 1st, before you were sleeved and you would read these kinds of comments on here.. I chuckle a little because I am still pre op and oh what I would give to lose that much!!! You're doing great! Get out of your funk! :)

  11. Oh I've gotten this from family, and a really good friend of mine called me a cheater when I told her I was considering the sleeve. Don't you worry about what the outsiders say, you want this and yot for you.. so do it for you and own how awesome you look and feel afterwards :) Good luck to you!! I should be sleeved in June.. it can't come fast enough.

  12. I have Cigna Open Access Plus. My BMI is 41. The surgeons office is contacting my insurance co to see what portion, if any, they will cover. What all does Cigna require?? If they won't pay, how do you finance?

I've read different posts where Cigna approves with 6 months of dr. supervised diet, some people say only 3 months, some say no wait at all! There are also people who say Cigna won't pay at all!

I'm so worried! As far as financing goes, I have decent credit, but I've read where people get financed easily wi ith one lender, but some people report having to find multiple lenders/take out multiple loans/sell their property! Ahhhh!!! I don't know how medical financing works! Please advise!

I work for Cigna, its 89 day supervised weight management. I am in my 2nd month now... can't wait to be done :-). If you meet your deductible you will just have your copay most likely, if you meet your out of pocket Max you may not have to pay a penny, just depends on your benefits.

  13. I actually adutioned for season 9 with my cousin. I am thankful that I didn't get the call. Now my cousin did, the next season. She was part of the season 10 cast. She did an awesome job while being on the ranch, lost 96 pounds during the season. I will say, she has reminded me that it is a "contest" and they really do try to win the prize. I know that she had a really unforgettable experience while being on the ranch and is happy she did it, but I think this last season just went to far! The winner looked ill.. too skinny.. not healthy.

I just can't wait to get my sleeve on!!
