Started my liquid diet yesterday. I agree that it was harder than today. Luckily I only have a one-week diet. I think I'd eat my leg off otherwise! Went to my surgeon's pre-op today, hospital pre-op tomorrow and the big day is next Wednesday! Cannot wait! Woo hoo, we're all going to do awesome!

I really like Syntrax nectar. One scoop of chocolate truffle with 4 oz of skim milk is amazing! I ordered samples from them. 12 single serve packages for $12. It gave me a chance to see which flavors I liked before committing to a huge container!

I have BCBS of Texas so I don't know if it's the same but my BMI is just over 40 and my approval took about 3 days. No proof of diet. I have to have my surgery at a Blue Bariatric Center of Distinction but it will be covered except for my co-pay. Good luck!

I am also on the 8th of January! One week pre-op liquid diet starts on the 1st. A new year for a new me! Are y'all excited? I am way more excited than nervous. I think I'm most nervous about how hungry I'm going to be on the pre-op liquid diet!

I will be on a liquid diet for one week before surgery. I can't remember if Dr. Aceves requires a pre-op diet.

4meonly- I changed jobs and got insurance that covers the procedure so I'm having it in the States. I've heard he's excellent though!

I had to quit smoking, too. I was able to do it cold turkey but I know it's not that easy for everyone. I just wanted to point out that it's the nicotine in the cigarettes that causes wound healing problems (other things in the cigs do too) so anything you're using with nicotine can cause wound healing issues. Good luck! You can quit!

Don't worry about the upper GI. It's not that bad. Had mine a couple of weeks ago. It's more weird than anything. They make you swallow in a couple of awkward positions. Good luck!

Live in Spring, TX and will hopefully be having RNY in January. I see Dr. Howard in The Woodlands and will be having surgery at Houston Northwest. Anyone else from this area?

Hello everyone! I am also pre-op. Hope to have my surgery January 2014. Have already met with the surgeon, have my appt with the nutritionist in 2 days and meet with psych next week. I'm curious, why did y'all choose bypass over the sleeve? I was going to do the sleeve but I think this will help me lose more weight and my surgeon said it's better for snackers. I have about 110 lbs to lose. Been overweight all my life. Lost 80 lbs with low-carb to gain it back and then some. I am so excited to do this! We rock, y'all!

Hello! I am tentatively scheduled with Dr. Aceves August 16. I am 98% excited and 2% nervous. Will anyone be there at the same time? Let's wait together!

I am tentatively having mine done Aug. 16 with Dr. Aceves in Mexico. We'll have to start an August sleepers forum!

That's a horrible thing for your surgeon to say! Stick with it! You're doing great. I haven't even had surgery and I'm already preparing for stalls. You will lose again! Best of luck!

Hi! I just started here, too! I want to have ,y surgery late summer or early fall. I have no "hoops" to jump through because my insurance covers no WLS. No exceptions. So, I'm going to be self-pay and have chosen Dr. Aceves because I have yet to read anything bad about him. Can't wait to hear all about your journey!
