  1. I believe we have to watch out for things that expand after eating, rice being one of them. Some suchi seems to be quite moist and the rice has already been expanded. Dried fruit such as banana chips are notorious for causing belly problems even for the "stretch bellies". I cannot eat very much potato without filling quickly.

Careful experimentation may free you up to eat a wider variety.

I was talking to my brother in law last night about the fact that even if I wanted to I can no longer get drunk. My stomach cannot hold enough, I was always hard headed and ended up baby sitting those less resistant. He claimed he could get me some high proof moonshine that would blast me into oblivion. I responded that my stomach, "The Bouncer", would throw it right back out.

So I can't get drunk. Never liked me drunk anyone, I annoyed myself and everyone else, no doubt. :D

I was wondering if not being able to drunk was normal. I too can not get drunk nor do I like the taste anymore. Any alcohol turn up my stomach, its just disgusting to me right now.

  2. honey love, you are amazing! I give you a lot of credit!

Jaime Kissinger, I was very exhausted and tired. I slept every chance I got and on my days off, I slept the first 24 hours. Thank goodness my hubby and kids were so supportive. I just started having more energy and less sleepy last week, bout 4 weeks post op. I am forever greatful and appreciative that I had a fantastic recovery despite not getting the proper rest.

  3. I am just wonder how long after being sleeved most people went back to work?

I went to work the same day I discharged from the hospital. I was able to work 3rd shift the first 2 days and resumed my regular 2nd shift at 5 days post op. If I could have, I would have taken 2 weeks off but I couldn't. Luckily everything turned out good, great recovery. I was very exhausted though. I was sleeved on 12/12/13 and discharged and back to work on 12/14/13.

  4. My Sergeon felt I would better benefit from having the sleeve since I was having so much issues with the band. Now it's been almost a year and I only lost 50lbs verses the 120lbs with the band. I have no idea what I am doing wrong and this is disappointing on all levels.

Just a quick background: weighted 302 at the time I was banded and lost more than 180lbs in the year I had it. The band kept slipping and my Sergeon felt it would be safer for me if I did the sleeve. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks because I had lost more than 200lbs while banded, I had to gain the weight back. I was 289!when I got the sleeve last year and can't seem to get off 238lbs.

    When were you sleeved?

  5. I also just made a post about this last night. I'm 5 days out, yesterday I was SOOO hungry. It's weird because I have no desire to eat, yet I have that severe empty "I gotta have some food in me" feeling because I AM so empty inside. Leftover grehlin? Who knows... but we have not had any solid food in ourselves for weeks now (well me at least) and after trying to survive on an average of 600 cals a day I'm sure our bodies truly ARE hungry. It's a shock to the system no doubt. Most likely once we progress our food stages it will go away. I hope.

I too feel hungry (I'm 10 days post op) but I don't think its hunger rather than the acid or something. Every time I feel hungry I eat Jello.

  6. I was sleeved on 12/12/13 as well. I introduced Protein shakes to my diet yesterday and felt a little betters. Every day I feel better than the previous. My body always lets me know if I am doing to much because I would be sleeping in 5 minutes lol

I had my surgery 12/12 and while I am feeling better everyday there is also another set back each day. While today I wasn't as sore but I'm as weak as water!! Getting fed up now :(

  7. Alright folks, I need some advice here. I am in sales and drive all day long. I've seen people comment on taking 4-6 weeks off of work after getting sleeved... I may be very optimistic, however I think that seems like a craaaazzzyy long time to be taking off of work! Trying to get an idea from some people who maybe took more like 2 weeks off OR LESS and hear what struggles I'm maybe overlooking. Anyone out there that was in this situation? Was driving painful? Getting in and out of the car? Give me the skinny on driving after surgery! **A little bit of pun intended. ;) **

I'm not taking any time off of work due to being a new hire and I.have a 6 month probation period and I do not have the luxury of taking the needed time. My doc office wrote a note for me to work 3rd.shift instead of my regular 2nd shift. I work at a juvenile detention center so I pretty much sit on my butt all day pushing buttons from a console. On 3rd shift, every one is sleeping so I don't have to do much of nothing.

  8. Thank you...oh i went to my group but nobody for dec 14 there are some people who have 3 and 4 buddies but i have none.. :-( i would definitly keep in mind what u said though... bcuz i dnt wanna get 120 thats what my weight should be and i told my doc that....so imma see what she has to say in our last meeting

My surgery is schedule for 12/12/13. We can be sleeve buddies

  9. Great! I have 6 more days until mine and my thoughts are all over the place. One minute I'm excited and the next I wonder why I'm putting myself through yet another surgery. I just want the day to be here so I can stop thinking about it and second guessing everything. Have you been to many of the support group meetings. I wish there were more of them in the Enfield area.

I only went to 2 support groups. I found it to be beneficial. I started a new job (2nd shift) so I won't be able to go to any more support groups unless they offer them during the day.
