  1. So I stepped on the scale yesterday and finally got what I was looking for........down 50 pounds!!! I am so happy to have reached this goal. It took me 3 1/2 months to do it.......but I did it! I am working on the Halloween goal and hope to be down 10 more pounds for this. I have gone from a 22/24 to a 16/18 and have lost just under 40 inches. I can't wait to see what the next 50 pounds is going to be like!! Life is much easier and I feel settled into my new life. Some days are harder than others but for the most part it is good. I am always looking for new recipes and fun food ideas to keep things out of the mundane and boring. This I think is a real killer to our psyche especially when it comes to eating lunch at work and finding something for dinner. On to the next 50!!
  2. This is wonderful news for you!! Can't wait to see the pictures of the total new you!!
  3. When I had lost 25 or 30 pounds I felt like everyone should have noticed. I thought wow now I should look skinny or skinnier. The thing is it takes time and although we have been on this journey for months prior to surgery and working so hard at becoming this new person we feel like it should happen right now. I remember feeling impatient and a little frustrated that it didn't happen right away. Friends here on the forum had to remind me that I was doing terrific and to hang in there it was going to happen. They were right it does take a little time but it does happen! Did you measure yourself before surgery? If so, measure yourself again and see if there are some differences with the inches. The scale might not tell the whole story but the inches will. Good luck and hang in there you are doing a great job so far!
  4. You look absolutely fantastic. Here is the reality of it all. This is when the rubber meets the road and we have to realize this is one of those times when we have to make ourselves do what we know is right. It's tough to do I know this very well but after we had our surgery we all swore to ourselves we were never going back. This is one of those times when we get weak (and we all do) and have to conform to what is right. It's the difference between caving in and reverting back to a lifestyle that will kill us mentally and gain weight or grow stronger and conquer the old ways and demons. I think that you have done an absolutely amazing job with losing 110 pounds and I totally believe you can conquer this momentary weakness. If you have been slipping into some old patterns you might want to go back to liquids for a week and a lean piece of meat and veggies every couple of nights. This will help to get the carb monster off your back and kick start some weight loss. One day I will probably be sitting where you are right now and want you to remind me of the advice I gave you. It is all part of this journey and to expect that this wouldn't or couldn't happen is naive to ones growth. Getting past these hurtles is what strenthens us. Good luck and I know you can do it! :)
  5. I lot of people use Miralax as well. You honestly can't taste it in your water at all. Since you drink a lot of water this might me easy for you. I have used the Colace 2 in the morning every day seems to be the trick for me.
  6. I absolutely love mine! You can order them on Amazon and pick the color you want. I also ordered little muffin cups etc. to add to it which helps to divide up the foods if you do a bunch of little items for one meal. You can also order them at www.laptoplunches.com. I go to Whole Foods and get some great stuff for my lunches and I also ordered small skewers to make my lunch look festive. It's all a mind game but my lunches look cute and I always look forward to eating it!
  7. This is a little bit of a read but excellent! It just reinforces everything we have been taught and learned along the way. Compliance is the answer to reaching and maintaining goal. Thanks for posting this!
  8. Welcome back! I look forward to reading your posts and wish you the best of outcomes with starting your weight loss again!
  9. Premier Protein Shake all the way! You can get them at Sam's or Costco but Sam's is cheaper. You get 30g of protein with each drink.
  10. Lost another 2 pounds! Put a smile on my face! 243 now!
  11. I'm going to spend some well deserved time sitting in a beach chair looking at the beautiful ocean, maybe do some shopping at Whole Foods for the next weeks lunches, washing down the pool deck and doing some laundry. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
  12. This is absolutely amazing!! Fantastic and Way to Go!!! :)
  13. I think you have a very healthy outlook and if you are losing weight with this plan I say more power to you. I actually do not count anything either but I do try to keep a mental track on things. I think if we get caught up in the numbers to much we can create headgames with ourselves.
  14. You are correct. I should have qualified it by including whatever it is cooked with. For example sauces, gravies, etc. Sorry!
  15. It would be interesting to see how many children come from normal size parents and overweight parents. I was always very careful to make sure my children were a normal size, had a lot of activites outdoors and kept very little snacks in the house. I didn't want for them what I was enduring. As a result my children grew up healthy and normal size and are to this day. I can't believe that parents would let a child get that big much less so young. I too think it is very sad that his entire life is being changed without his consent or ability to say no. I hope this isn't true.
  16. I try to stay under 50 if possible. They just make me want more. Most of the carbs I get are from vegetable, meat etc. I stay away from the bread, pasta and rice. It's a personal choice.
  17. Yes, I live in Florida. I am always stopping by the sushi and checking it out.
  18. It is what I call a sinus cleaner! It does the same thing to you that horeseradish does. I love the stuff you can add as much wasabi to your soy sauce as you like. If you only want a little then it won't bother you. I on the other hand like it hot.
  19. Tylenol but no ibuprofen type drugs unfortunately. Do you have any painkillers left from surgery? If you do you might try that.
  20. Have you thought about a different doctor? I would call around and see what the other surgeons in your area will do. You might be able to find one that is willing to work with you on a more reasonable weight loss goal. Good luck with this!
  21. I feel the same way. I originally didn't want to tell anyone but I ended up telling but only to those who ask me what I am doing. If they say I look great I just thank them but if they ask more then I tell
  22. Self pay $10,500 but worth every penny!
  23. Okay not much but you can put me in for 245. Thank you!
  24. Glad to hear all is well. You will be so much more comfortable in your own home!
  25. I did not have this happen to me during my pre op liquid diet BUT afterwards and I was post op I didn't trust a fart for anything!! I had trust issues with my butt at this point!
