  1. I am shocked but my doc said no abdominal exercise for ONE YEAR! That seems so extreme- what did your doctor say?
  2. Awesome! Looking great!
  3. Congrats and you look awesome. Keep up the great work
  4. You look like a different person! Amazing job!
  5. More great response! Thanks everyone!
  6. I have been doing random research online to understand better how our body processes foods and about the various hormones in the body that contribute to weight loss. I thought these 3 sites were interesting and thought I would pass them along: http://health.usnews.com/health-news/diet-fitness/diet/slideshows/use-these-8-foods-to-help-you-lose-weight/4 http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/15-foods-to-help-you-lose?page=3 http://www.self.com/fooddiet/2010/03/20-superfoods-slideshow#slide=13 Some have easy to incorporate ideas and suggestions.
  7. 50 grams of Protein is very good considering you aren't healing. Keep up the good work
  8. Strawberries are low in sugar but grapes are very high. When I juice, I use 1 apple for a ton of kale, spinach and broccoli and cucumber because it needs the sweetness. I avoid grapes personally. I love beets- raw shredded, or juiced and with carrots, you don't need fruit IMO with that blend. Here's a good link to the sugar in fruit http://www.buzzle.com/articles/fruits-high-in-sugar.html
  9. My green juice is kale, spinach, cucumbers, lemon, yellow apples (sweeter) and sometimes broccoli or celery. I do red juice too. Beets, carrots, lemon, ginger, red apple, purple cabbage and blueberries. Drink a glass for Breakfast, eat lean Protein for lunch and dinner and have another glass as a snack.
  10. If its hot, you loose water, not retain it which is why people get dehydrated in hot and humid temps. It is normal to gain some, then drop even more in another week or two. I went from 193 to 190 to 194 to 193 to 188 back to 191 and this morning am 190 and have been stuck for weeks now!
  11. Awesome! Looking great!
  12. I encourage exercise but I ave been at a three-four week plateau and am only 8 weeks out and I do the ellyptical 5 days a week for 45 minutes and it doesn't seem to be making a dent. I do feel good about exercising and feel stressed the days I skip so creating a good habit is rewarding. Just want to say that exercise may or may not help the weight loss. I was told (don't remember by who) that weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise.
  13. Great post clk. I think you summed everything up really nicely. I am sorry to hear about your situation. Life can be so stressful. Will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
  14. Those sound great!
  15. I do make mine with light mayo but you can use sour cream or Greek yogurt. I mix in chopped onion, sweet bread and butter pickles diced (in Splenda), and crystals brand hot sauce. It's so delicious! Sweet, spicy and tangy.
  16. Sounds yum! Thanks frvsharing
  17. Exactly what lynda said. No cost to me because the follow up covered by insurance.
  18. Thanks everyone! Ignore my typos-iPad drops letters or does odd auto corrects.mi think I will try a light ab routine and see how I feel. I see my doc on Friday.
  19. My husband starting appreciating what I do when I started traveling for work and he had to do it alone! Sad it takes that but it did. And that was a true story...he actually told me to eat turkey sandwiches...
  20. You don't mind celery juiced? I prefer to use more kale and spinach. I just bought the omega vert masticating juicer and love it. Green juice is my breakfast now and an evening snack. Lunch and dinner still lean protein and 50 calorie pitas. I also like Bert juice, carrot, red cabbage, apple, spinach and ginger.
  21. It's hard when you already have so much on your plate! My husband is supportive but eats whatever he wants in front of me. He ordered pizza when I was on liquids which irritated me. He's in pretty good shape an just doesn't know what I go through struggling to loose weight. When I decided on surgery, he said "its up to you but I think it's crazy! Just stop eating so much. Eat a turkey sandwich everyday and Water and you will loose weight" first off, I am not Jarod or my face woud be all over those commercials! He may not realize how difficult your weight loss is bc he's never been in your shoes. Just be a little selfish and focus on you!
  22. I am 7 weeks out but haven't been ack to see my doctor yet. I am doing the ellyptical 5 days a week at level 4 and 8 incline for 45 minutes (40 plus 5 cool down). I also have a pool and swim sporadically (weather and work permitting). I haven't started any other workout yet but was curious when your doctor cleared you for full exercise, specifically anything straining the abs. Info appreciated
