P.S. Try, try, try to get a shrink that is in network. My eval only cost me $17.50. Me and my wife probably called 50 docs to find one that would take our insurance. The weird part is... he was only one block away from the bariatric center. LOL

Well it depends on the doc you go to. Some have a 500 question test they give you. Mine just talked to me for about 20 min. and said that there is nothing to worry about. (what a relief)

Hey, I have a great Idea for a creative exercise. It is called Geocaching. Geo as in Earth. Caching (cash) as in a pile or store of something. You can find the website at Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site This is a high-tech treasure hunt. There are caches all over the world and I bet there are TONS of them near you. You don't have to go out and spend tons of $$$ on a fancy GPS. Mine cost about $70 and does just as good. Now get a GPS and get out there and find some caches!

Back in Feb. or March, I went to my doc. to start checking out some health issues. I ended up with some deppression, exhaustion (graveyard shift), and some other things. Doc. sent me for a sleep study. Boy that was a LOT of wires. They said I snored all day! But no sleep apnea! Yeah! I have since changed jobs and i get to sleep at night now. My emotional healt is swinging back to the healthy side, I have 2-3 mo. till LapBand. I am now probably 170 or so Lbs. from where my doc, and I agreed would be a good goal weight. 220-225 lbs. I am looking forward to getting my healthy energetic body back again. I feel like I just slothed my way through my 20's. I will be 30 this year. I have a 2.5 yr old boy and another boy on the way. He will be here just after my surgery. By the way I am a guy... my wife is the one that is pregnant. I have been considering LapBand for almost 3 years now. However, I just decided back in may to finaly go through with it. I come from a history that is pretty much text book LB'er. "Clean your plate, Your good if you finish your food" etc. I just think that when I have the band... My boy will still be young enough to not see daddy binge on food and pick up my addiction to the monster called food. He is now a Lean-Mean-Playin'-Machine. I do not want him to start bingeing and be an obease kindergartener. Have any of you taken advantage of the opportunity to help change your families future health? What positive things (besides your improved health) have you seen in your family and your families daily life that is a direct result from your having LapBand? What are some of your favorite meals with the band? I know we are supposed to eat protien first... I was thinking that Beans and black-eyed peas would be great. It is a protien and it is very soft. I cant see them balling up in the stomach like they say bread can and will. I just wanted to say howdy to everybody and get into the swing of this forum. this seems like a great place to get a lot of info. and support. It is time for:notagree NOW!

I know this is not the exercise thread but I posted in there earlier this evening and no body has even looked at it yet. Must not be as active as this thread. Anyway here it is. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/geo-what-42226/ See what y'all think! OH my gosh! I just saw this :ranger: smiley! This is what I do all morning at work. Drink coffee and stare at my monitor. ok, by now

I am purposely leaving a little info out... I think it encourages investigation. It is a fun "sport".

Do you have to go all the way back to Mexico to have fills? Have you found a Doc locally that will get over their pride and actually make adjustments?

Thanks for all the replies folks! I forgot about eggs! I love eggs. we get farm fresh eggs from my Mother-in-Law. The yolks are road stripe orange and boy do they taste better than the store bought eggs. I am excited to get this journey underway. -
Well I am glad you had your surgery. I am sorry to hear that your experience was not all that is should/could have been. I suppose I will see what it is like here in a couple of months when I get mine done by Dr Sims. Congrats on your first "test"!

Hey, I am going with Dr. Sims in Waco also! I was scheduled for Aug. 27, but due to insurance redtape, have been pushed back to end of Nov. Dec. sometime! Oh Well... I am eager to see how you do with the recovery and scarring. You know that Melissa at the Dr. office had the band the day after labor day. I have not talked to her yet to see how she is doing... but I hope it is well.

Well, after sifting through all the junk. getting laid-off, not having insurance, etc... I have my LapBand surgery scheduled for August 27. I am going to self-pay, but I definatly think it will be worth it! I am going to have it done by Dr. Simms here in Waco. I am glad I will not have to drive back from Dallas or Austin the day of the surgery. Ok I am rambling now, They are putting me on a "liquid" diet for 2 weeks prior to the surgery. Is this normal? has anbody else done this. It is a slimfast in the morning and at lunch, with a small protien for dinner like fish or chicken. they said it is to make sure the liver is out of the way. I am excited!!!

I am just ready to "get er done" so to speak. I have been researching the lapband and following its results for about 2.5 years now. I am extatic at the idea that i will no longer be plauged by hunger all the time. Just waiting

I have decided to COBRA for a couple of months. My surgery that was scheduled for Aug. 27 is now going to occur sometime LATE Nov. or in December. OH Well

Hello all! This is my first post here on LBT I just want to say howdy and that I just started my process. My insurance has a 6 month diet/red tape time before they will give me the OK for the procedure. I am in month 2 with that. I hope to learn a whole bunch and get some support here. Craig
