    JULY SLEEVERS

Hey I was sleeved July 8th, my doc cleared me for purees day 3. Mashed potatoes are one of my favorites, but use caution while they taste good they are lore oin protein (2g per 4oz) they are one of those things that doesn't taste different because its not altered the way other purees. But you have to focus on protein. I am 2 weeks out today and hot my first stall. SW - 274 (day of surgery, no pre op diet) CW - 254 for 2 days now. I think looking at the scale its awesome, you feel amazed every time it goes down, but when it doesn't don't freak. Stalls are normal. You just have to remind yourself that, and make sure your focused on making sure what your eating is right.

  10. Every doctor has different guidelines. My doc cleared me to eat pureed (blenderised) foods day 2. Here are some of my favorites Mexican Cilantro 2 oz grilled chicken with fajita seasoning 2 oz Black Beans 2 oz refried beans cheese All blended, then heat it up and toss a little sour cream on it. eggs over easy. Mashed up really well. oatmeal Whole grain oatmeal 1 tbs brown sugar Add Protein with 1 tbs dry milk 1/3c milk Flackseed meal A little cinnamon Ill have to ask my fiance what he put in some other stuff he had made, but they where really good too. Best of luck.
  11. So last night was day 5. I have been sleeping on the couch since home day 3 and that has been going pretty well aside from the upper back pain that I associate with laying for 8 hours in the same position at a 45° angle. So last night I decided off to bed I would go. I was so happy, I snuggled with my fiance and felt like things where getting back to normal. I did notice as I was drifting off a little abdominal discomfort but it wasn't bad and I figured it was just the new position and so I drifted off to sleep. 30 minutes later I woke up, the first thing I noticed was that I was sweating, which is weird bc I have had no fevers and I'm never hot. Then it seemed like my heart was racing, I went to move my legs and they felt like jello and I just had this overall somethings not right feeling. I layed there for a few more moments feeling my carotid pulse... But its dark I have no watch... struggling with this weird feeling. So finally I tap my fiance and tell him. I asked him to get my blood pressure cuff and blood sugar monitor. I don't have problems with either, but I am a CNA in nursing school so these are just things I have in my house. Anyways, I layed there, half out of it feeling worse and worse as he is taking my vitals. BP 117/73 Pulse 54 Temp 98.1 blood sugar 76. So now I'm like, ok... nothing that would explain it. So I ask him to help me sit up. He runs downstairs grabs a pillow from the couch, sets me up and that's when I feel it... I'm gonna throw up. I said ohhh Jon im gonna get sick. He is so fast to act, without my instruction he hands me a pillow for my abdomen a bedside trash can and sprints off downstairs to the kitchen, where an anti nausea medicine sits on the counter unused. My doctor had prescribed it but I hadn't needed it. He comes running back up, it and water in hand. I took it and about 5 minutes later everything began to subside. Needless to say I went back to couch and I am so thankful to have a knight in shining armor always by my side. I guess I'm just not ready for laying completely flat yet.

Last night was a BAD night :-(

Thank you. He is. We have been together for 2.5 years and you know you have a life partner when they help you "wash up" everything day 1 in the hospital because you are sore and can't reach. He's the best.

Last night was a BAD night :-(

Thank you. I'm sorry about your gas pain. Its crazy how different this surgery is for all of us. Some lose fast, some don't. Done are bouncing around day 2 some are in sever pain 6 weeks out. Some have liquid diets for weeks, some are on purees day 2. It really is every persons individual story.

Last night was a BAD night :-(

Thank you for saying that the back pain goes away. It was awful in the hospital, its better on the couch but still very present in the morning. I'm just ready to be back to "normal". Before the surgery I just couldn't wait to wake up out of surgery and start the recovery journey to this amazing new life. Now im just ready to feel recovered. That description of pulling sounds right to the discomfort I was feeling as I fell asleep. I guess ill just take it slow and try again in a day or two.

I don't understand the post op 2 week diet

I feel so bad I had my surgery Monday. Tuesday @ lunch I was cleared for clear liquids and Wednesday morning I went to purees. Im on purees for 3 weeks, but I can't imagine being on liquids for that long. Although I will say its hard to get your H2O in when you can't have water 30 minutes before or after eating. So much timing and scheduling to make sure you get everything you need.
  18. Hey Everyone, So I am sleeved and officially a "Loser". I was sleeved this Monday July 8th, 2013. Everything has been going well, but my weightloss seems so, I dint know drastic. I just wanted to make sure it sounds normal to you vets. All these weights are on my scale at home. 7/8 Day of surgery- 271.4 7/10 Home - 274.8 7/11 - 271.4 7/12 - 267.6 7/13 - 264.2 I mean wow... I expected it to come off fast in the beginning and slow down but this just seems super fast. I have been doing well with getting most of my fluids and my protein, and I'm setting goals each day to get closer to my targets of 64oz h2o & 70g of protein. Right now I would say I am eating about 3x per day - 3 to 3.5oz per meal. 10+g of protein per meal and another 20g protein from whey shake. About 40oz h2o. All my vitals are normal. Im voiding normally and having BM's. So... is this normal weight loss in the beginning? Thanks for any info you guys may have.

    Pureed High protein breakfast option

Hey Everyone, This is my first post. I am 26 years old and will be sleeved on July 8th, 2013. I am 5'5" and currently weigh 274. Anyways. I love cooking and have started experimenting with ways to make high Protein puree options. I love Breakfast and this one tastes really good. 6 eggs 4 Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey sausage patties 1 cup fat free cottage cheese 1 cup Water Add a pinch of sea salt and pepper, water blands it down a little. Blend on high for 2 minutes Yields 1.25cups - with a little left over 20g protein per 4oz (1/2cup) In going to try and freeze and see how it does. I will update with other nutritional facts soon. Hope you enjoy!

    Pureed High protein breakfast option

Thanks Laura-ven Thats good to know. Alot of the recipes the nutritionist gave me only had 3-5g per 1/4 cup so I was trying to figure out how to get more protein per meal.

    Pureed High protein breakfast option

Its good. I have tried probably 15 different recipes that I have thought up the ones I like I plan on posting. For those who don't like cottage cheese you can't tell. It has a creamy consistency. But otherwise it's kinda hard to describe.
