  1. I was sleeved on 7/8 and left the hospital the afternoon of 7/9. Easiest procedure ever. Now I feel silly for being so worried to start with lol. For this week I am only allowed clear liquid ( broth, sf popsicles, sf Jello, clear Liquid Protein such as Isopure, sfvitamin Water, sf Powerade etc. Next week I'll be able to start pureed foods!! Ready for some pears!! I've been walking inside the house because of the recent weather here in NC. Its hard to get in all my fluids and forget about 70 grams of Protein but each day gets a little better. I've lost 20 pounds so far including preop diet and people are already noticing it which feels awesome! !

  2. I haven't bought it yet but I will be very soon. I'll get it from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury.com. I don't have a date yet but I did just submit to insurance yesterday (bcbs of al) so after I get my approval I will be scheduling a date and meeting the surgeon!!! Yay! I am soooo excited!!! I hope I get approved quickly' date=' I am ready for a new me!!! :)[/quote']

Giiiirrrrlll its all worth it!! Longer lifespan beats out double cheeseburgers all the time

  3. I am still pre-op but my nutritionist told me that everything I drink counts as liquid intake at first so my Protein shakes should count towards my Water intake as well as broth and stuff. I am thinking of trying unjury unflavored' date=' has anyone tried it? I am planning on adding it into my Water, Soup and just about everything I can.[/quote']

No I haven't tried it. But that's a good idea so we could definitely get the Protein in

  4. Its good to hear that. I was Sleeved 7/9 so just 3 days out. Prior to surgery I didn't get why 64oz of Water was such a big deal' date=' I was always a big Water drinker so no problem right? Wrong! I totally get the issue now. This is going to be work and at this point I have no interest in anything remotely related to food. I'm really focused on the water and will worry about the Protein later. I figure I can afford to lose some muscle since I won't have to be carting around a 320# body.

I remember reading once that the average person can live 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water, and 3 minutes without air. So I guess sipping and breathing are the things I need to worry about short term.[/quote']

So true before surgery I couldn't get enough water but now TOTALLY DIFFERENT. If I drink too much I can feel Itin my throat if I don't drink enough my mouth feels weird. I just wqnt to guzzle down a bottle of water!! Lol

  5. You won't get it in much at this stage. I can just now reach 80-100 and I'm at 3 months post op. I was lucky to get 20 in at that point in time. I focused on Water first then Protein second. It was an ALL day job where I felt like I was staring at the clock the whole time!

That's EXACTLY how I feel! ! Glad to know it's not just me because I was getting worried! How is it being 3 months post op?

  6. I don't really have a problem with the liquids. I was always a big "drinker". I sip all day long but no different than before. I did the whey Protein powder with Water when I was on clears. That's all my surgeon would let me have. Horrifying to say the least! I tried the liquid Protein from Vitamin shop in the little bullets but they were even worse. Now that I can mix in some fruit an milk I'm doing much better with the protein as I suspect you will be too!

    Can't wait to have milk..yuuummmmm

  7. LIke you two' date=' I had problems as well and actually still do...when it comes to liquids, my stomach gets bloated very quickly if I drink too much...at first especially, you have to "sip sip sip"...that is the mantra...most of the advice you get will be to keep Water near you all during the day and every 10 or 15 minutes take a few small sips...I found that very hard to do, even though I do think it's good advice...as for the Proteins, the first month you definitely will need to get the majority via the Protein shakes/drinks...I hated those, too, but made myself drink them...you will get lots of recommendations on those here, because people's tastes differ so greatly...my favorite powder is the unjury brand chocolate Splendor flavor...and I put some PB2 (Peanut Butter powder) in for extra flavor and a little extra protein...hang in there because things do get better as the weeks progress[/quote']

Thanks so much. How far out are you?

  8. Nice! Glad to hear things went smoothly for you. My surgery will be with Dr. Gersin on 7/22. CMC and all of Carolinas HealthCare System has the best medical professionals ever!!

They do!! You'll do great other than being a little sore from the incision where the stomach was removed I'm great!!

  9. Anyone had their sleeve done by this man? He seems very straight forward but not sure of his experience.

He's great. No he's not one that tekks jokes and he is very straightforward however he knows what he's doing. He sleeved me on 7/8 and I've been home since 7/9. He's the director of bariatric surgery at cmc mercy/carolinas weight management. Great surgeon but can't take a joke.

  10. I'm from Charlotte' date=' and my doctor is Keith Gersin. My surgery will be on 7/22.[/quote']

I too am from Charlotte and was sleeved by Dr. Gersin on 7/8. It was a great experience. The staff is wonderful at CMC Mercy!! The surgery went smooth and I only stayed overnight. Feel free to adk me any questions...good luck!

  11. I just wanted to share one of the best feelings I experienced yesterday with my 7 year old daughter since surgery..We were in a clothing store and my daughter said "mommy you should try this on...it is so pretty for you.." I looked at the size (16) and told her mommy can't fit into that. She told me just put it on and I did. Amazed to my surprise it fit!!!! I was in a size 24 in March before the surgery. I have not been in a 16 in over 17 years. That evening I did not Celebrate with food like I used to do before surgery' date=' but with exercise. One of the best feelings in the world![/quote']

    Great experience! ! Congratulations! !
