Fitbit flex vs. body media fit

I've had my BodyMedia Fit for a year now, and I love it beyond words. It's so helpful when exercising, since most machines and MFP over-estimate your calorie burn. It also can sync with MFP, and other apps. If you think it's too bulky, there's a new model coming out this fall. It's supposed to be the size of a quarter.

    Any North Mississippi Sleevers?

The office staff sounded rude over the phone to me, as well, but they were nice in the office. I really like Dr. Pinson! I haven't spoken to him one-on-one, but I just got good vibes during the seminar. He seems knowledgable and friendly. Unfortunately, they don't offer any type of in-house financing (I was told they did) and self-pay is 12,500. So everything's on hold for me for now until I work out how to pay.
  3. After two months of set-backs, I'm finally going to the required educational seminar tomorrow for Dr. Pinson. I'm terrified, and it's just a class! I think the fear is because this is really showing my family that I'm serious about this surgery and they don't like it (I'm 23), even though they know that it is almost 100% impossible for me to lose more weight on my own. They would rather me stay this size than to get 85% of my stomach cut out. Now I'm just hoping his self-pay isn't too high! Any more mentions of going to MX for the surgery may send my family over the edge.
  4. Just got out of the seminar, the cash pay is 12,500. I'm kinda okay with that, as I would like to be close to home incase of problems and follow-ups. But as soon as my father realized I was serious, he asked me why I don't get on my elliptical more often. Sure, that'll solve everything! Forget that I've been calorie counting for three years and exercising and my weight has come to a complete stand still for the last year! I was encouraged because I was thinking about getting online and searching for medical loans, but now I'm almost in tears. If someone I've lived in a house with that has SEEN my weight struggles thinks I'm taking the easy way out, what will my friends and co-workers think? All my excitement is flying away now..

    Any North Mississippi Sleevers?

Hi fellow Mississippians! I'm going to the educational seminar in Tupelo tomorrow to see if Dr. Pinson is the doctor for me. I'm self-pay and was contemplating Mexico, but I'm trying to find a closer-to-home alternative for my family's peace of mind. For those of you who had Dr. Pinson, could you tell your experiences? ETA: Are any others from MS self-pay, or know the price of the sleeve at your clinic? I'm kinda north/central MS myself, and I'm equal distances from the big cities and wouldn't mind traveling around the state for a good deal.
  6. I'm researching doctors in MX, and a big part of the decision is airfare prices. If I use Alvarez, I'll be driving (which will take a day) but I'll have to fly for any of the others. My question is for those of you who flew for surgery in MX: What doctor did you use, and what airport did you fly into, so that I can compare ticket prices?
  7. Thanks for all the input so far! For those of you who don't mind, would you also list the price you paid? It'll also help with comparisons. But only if you don't mind telling that info!

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

Still trying to choose a doctor here, planning on being sleeved in the next few months. HW: 368+ CW: 306 GW: 168 Height: 6'
  9. Also, how far out did you book your surgery when you booked it? I'm hoping to get in quickly, and I don't know if there's usually a long waiting period or not.
  10. I'm 23 and have no health problems. I'm doing this to look good now and to stay healthy in the future.
  11. Hello! I'm new to the site, I'm scheduled for a sleeve "orientation" in two weeks to make sure I'm 100% decided on this before moving forward. I have a question for those of you who know more about the post-op eating than I do: I've calorie counted for over two years now, lost 60# so far (went from 368 to 308, 6' tall, 23 yrs old) and one thing I've heard over and over is that I shouldn't let my calories drop too low. I wear a bodymedia to track my body's burn level and never let my calorie deficit get greater than 1000cal/day. My question is this, what about the sleeve makes it okay to eat so much less than is normally okay? I know I (mostly) won't be hungry once I'm sleeved, but I guess I'm worried about nutrition more than anything. Eating around 800cal/day would give me at least a 2000cal/day deficit, something I've been told over and over to avoid. In fact, I went several weeks eating at 1200cal/day and kept a terrible headache and was drained of all energy. I don't want anyone to think I'm preaching against WLS, that's not it at all, I want the sleeve and am about to start the process towards getting one. I'm just worried that I'll have the headaches and no energy like I have when I restrict calories too much. Any input is appreciated!

    Low Calories

So, did you not experience headaches from restricted calories? Or do the vitamins take care of that?
