  1. How much is too much cardio? I do 50 minutes including a cool down and it's about 750 to 800 calories burned. Then I lift light I don't wanna bulk. I want a toned athletic build is that to much cardio?

I have seen better results since I cut back on cardio and increased strength training. I'm down to only two 5Ks a week. But I lift more and heavier

  2. Bigcountry - how tall are you how much did you loose what is your weight? When dud you have surgery? When did you start working out?

I'm 6ft tall, I started at 305lbs with severe comorbids, had surgery on 31OCT 2012 started lifting light weight at 6 weeks

  3. Thanks big country. So how much have you lost? And did you just focus on losing weight at first then building muscle? Or did you try to keep the muscle you already had when you were big?

I focused on losing weight first and when I got down to a comfy weight I started lifting.

  4. Is it even possible for a post op to develop a six pack of abs that rival those of normal fitness folks? I do not see how with the excess skin around the stomach area. I have been eating clean ' date=' working out effectively for many months and still do not see the abs. However, I can start to see the outline of where they should be and I have veins everywhere on my arms and legs. Chest and back are very strong and powerful. I am wondering if others have had more success with popping the abs. If you have picture proof it is possible, please post a photo and what you did to bring them out. Maybe my body fat % is still too high at 15 %. Maybe I need to be more diligent about core workouts. I mainly do full body workouts.[/quote']

I have abs and I just do tons of core workouts. I also do Crossfit and functional strength movements. I'm not sure what my body fat % is so I can't help there.

  5. I'm new to the forums and am loving the community and the help everyone gives. I'm 34 year old black male and was 497 at my largest and 493 at the time of my surgery on last Wednesday 7/3/13. After I came out of anesthesia all I thought was I can't believe I did this to myself on purpose. The pain was intense but now things are so much better. I'm able to get enough liquid and my stomach seems to handle a good level of broth with no issue. I'm really interested in amateur bodybuilding. It's a dream of mine and I want to start out on the right foot. So if anyone has info on how to start off on the right foot I in that direction I would love to hear from you. How is bodybuilding after the sleeve different than doing it without the sleeve?

I am doing amateur body building and hopefully some physique modeling and it's pretty much the same as pre sleeve just diet and exercise. The sleeve controls how much but you still control what you eat...

  6. I'm 5 months out from surgery and I've lost 94 pounds. I have 55 pounds left to lose to reach my goal of 125. I'm 5 ft tall. I'm so excited about the weight I've lost so far and feel a million times better.

I hesitate to post this because the before pic is me in my underwear but It's the only pic I have that really shows the difference. I hope it doesn't offend anyone.

My family is getting ready to go on a beach trip and I bought a swim suit. I got a halter bikini top and swim shorts. I tried to find a pic of me last year at the beach but I couldn't find any that showed me from the shoulders down...but I found this underwear pic from the night before surgery.

I've lost a total of 64 inches so far! I've lost 13.5 inches from my hips and 10 inches from each thigh!! I'm amazed at the process and I'm loving this journey!

Please' date=' if underwear offends you, do not click on the pic. :-)[/quote']

    Looking Hott!

  7. One goal I never thought I would reach is getting the "money lines" or the magic v muscle I'm not sure what its actually called but here is mine :)
