    9 months out

Thanks everyone. I lost 179 pounds I was 338 to start with and in 159 now. My goal is 130, so about 30 more to go. I had my surgery July 2013, I work full time as a restaurant manager and am mother of twins that are 2 and a half now. I could not drink the protein shakes until about a month ago. In the beginning it would make me gav just couldn't handle them. Now I drink 1 a day. I don't follow the diet plan 100%, have some chips popcorn, maybe a cookie every on e in a while. No soft drinks though, I stick to tea with splenda mostly. Lean ham, cheese, bacon, fish, chicken, sometimes ground beef, occasionally a tortilla she'll, side dishes after protein may eat a bite or 2 of a vegetable , rice, noodles, I might could eat a couple of bites now but that's it I was in extreme pain, in and out of the hospital for the first 2 weeks after surgery. After the drain tube was taken out I got better, but I had no desire for food for a long time. I would literally have to make myself eat a little bit, now I do feel hungry sometimes but no where near what it was

    What to eat?

I work full time and have twin 2 year olds so most if the time when I eat its something quick. I liked low fat cooked ham or tutkey( 30 cal slice) cheese cubes, mixed nuts( not many though) too much fat., 100 cal pack tuna salad with a couple saltines, I do eat a few lean cuisines or smart ones usually can only tolerate about half, soups( Campbell's cup of soup), 2 pieces of bacon( center cut less calories and fat), snacks cheese it crackers my favorite.
  6. Can you guys give some suggestions of what to add to ready to drink protein shakes premier chocolate and vanilla flavors.

    Ready to drink protein shakes

The milk enhancers I tried the banana in the chocolate shake and the strawberry in the vanilla. It surprised me at how much better it made the shakes taste. Blended with ice it covered up some of that protein smell/flavor. ( they are made with splenda). But no more than you use of it, Im ok with that.

    Ready to drink protein shakes

Thanks for the ideas. I do have some pb2 ill try that. I also found today at Walmart a sugar free liquid milk enhancer( made with splenda). They had cookies and cream, banana Strawberry, and chocolate. I'm going to give this a try as well.

    Ready to drink protein shakes

Sounds good, it's just been recently that I could tolerate the shakes but have gotten tired of the same flavors. I have put strawberry syrup in the vanilla with ice and blended it, that was good but need to vary it or I know I won't be able to stick with it long.
  10. I really like the strawberry banana and choc core power in the light. Very good taste to me.
  11. Has anyone heard of or tried core power protein shakes? They gavd 150 cal and 20 G protein in the lite. I have tried many and couldn't drink them but these tasted good to me. Just wondering what others think about them.

    Telling others

Hi. I only told my family and my boss at first. Keeping it quiet. I'm 9 months out now and after a little while I started telling people. I was ok with that. I was happy with my progress felt I made the right decision for me so I just explained it like that when people asked me. They would say things like tell me your secrete what are you doing to loose weight. Well I told them I had surgery and that I did it for my health and my kids. They were curious and asked questions about the procedure some wanted to know how to start the process to get it done for themselves. In my experience I haven't run across any negativity.

    Bad day for me

Like a lot of us I had a bad day with my eating.. Started my morning off had one off those tiny canned biscuits a piece of sausage then ended up taking my twins to the emergency room, spent several hours there got them home and went back for their meds and some food, I ate a half a pice of fried chicken Brest and about 4 fries'which was awful because its fried... Then later I Cooked dinner whim was a white turkey meat chili I ate about 6 ounces I think that wasn't bad, but tonight I ate some a serving of chips and ranch dip kit a good choice. With a piece of cheddar cheese. Just sharing my story because I know almost everyone out there has a bad day from time to time. Back to basics Tommorrow for sure.

    Bad day for me

    Thanks everyone
  16. Hi. I had severe obstructive sleep apnea years ago which required surgery. I came out of surgery and did well for several years but over time my weight crept up and it came back. I was on a Capp machine for several years. I could only tolerate the mask for a couple of hours at a time but I knew I needed it. So it was off and on all night. Wear a while take it off and rest and then try again. It does take getting used to. I had my gastric sleeve surgery July 8 th, 2013, have lost 176 pounds and have not touched my Cpap machine since July 8 th.. So when your weight comes down you must likely wont need it any more. Something to look forward to.

    Protein shakes

I'm not sure about the whey protein. I have some i can't tolerate just a thought the heartburn could have been from the fruit this early out.and too acids reflux is pretty common for sleeve patients, a lot of us have to take an acid reducer daily.

    Protein shakes

Oh I did already. In waiting now to see if insurance approves
  19. Hi, I am almost 8 months out, down 164 pounds. 338-174. I work as a manager of a fast food restaurant. This week, Tuesday I was moved from a slow low volume store to a very busy hectic store. I thought I was doing pretty well at the slow store, but moving to this busy store I lost 3 pounds in just a few days. I try to eat something on my way to work because its an hour drive. I usually eat a slice of ham and cheese for the protein. But once I get to work its too busy, too hectic to even think about trying to get a little bite of food in or drink. I work a 10 hour shift too. When I get off work I grab a price of grilled chicken and usually eat about half of that on my way hone. I know I've got to find some way to eat a little more somehow.

    Mixed feelings

Hi i had my surgery July 2013, so I'm 7 months as of this morning I'm down 160 pounds. 338 to 178. I am definetly proud of this. I'm able to wear size 14 jeans now, but I still think of myself as fat.i was overweight for so many years its hard to get that our of my head. I do have the loose skin on my belly which I'm not happy with, but the weight is mostly gone now. Can anyone else relate or share how to adjust. It's kinda weird I know.
