    any other az bandster's?

Hi again mferra, I don't live in Flagstaff. I only had my surgery there. I live in Pinedale about 15 miles from Show Low. I think they are trying to start a support group in Snowflake but I haven't heard anything about it in a while. Have fun "up north" I lived in the Valley for 20+ years and just couldn't take the heat any longer. I moved here in 1993 and have loved it!!!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcomeB: :welcomeB: :welcome2: :welcome2: Hi Dawn, Welcome to LBT!!! Sedona? Wow, how are you doing with the fire? Is it close to you? Scarey isn't it? I was in the big fire in 02.(Rodeo/Chediski) was evacuated for 11 days not knowing what was going on with my house. Thank God everything was fine. But a lot of my neighbors lost their homes. I hope you are far enough away from it. I hear that it is a little contained tonight 15% is better than 0% right? Again Welcome to the group and Good luck!

    July 24 Maybe???

Hi GE mom, Welcome to LBT!! I can't think of anything I wish I'd known before being banded except maybe how to eat right and not need it in the first place? Excercise? Well I can't lie there. I don't excercise like I should. I did at first but I HATE EXCERCISE!! I know it would be soooo much better for me if I did but I always find an excuse not to do it. I can eat a normal meal just not as much as I use to. I am going in for a small unfill next week Because I have been having trouble lately getting food down and it staying down. It really depends on what you call a normal meal. I can't eat breads, and haven't been able to in a long while. But who needs the extra carbs right? Am I glad I did it? OH YES!! I would do it all over again in a heart beat!!! I love my band!!!! Again Welcome and congratulations on the date to your new journey!

    First Vanguard Fill

I also have a Vanguard band. I had 3cc put in on my first fill and felt a little restriction, But not for long. I have now had 8 fills and one very small unfill. I was told that you need to take it slow. I have heard some say they were put to 6cc right away. I'm glad my surgeon took things slow and steady. Don't over do it because being overfilled is HELL!!!! Good luck with your fill!

    Emotional Band Crisis

Cody, Hang in there! I had to have 8 fills before I had a Great restriction. It's normal to have several fills before hitting the "sweet spot". Don't give up, it will happen, OK? ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))

    Medical Alert Bracelet

I have one and it reads.. GASTRIC LAP-BAND IF TUBING REQUIRED MUST USE SCOPE MORE INFO IN WALLET I put " more info in wallet" because EMT'S don't usually look in your wallet unless told to. In my wallet I have more info on my band, Dr.'s #, allergies and so on. The "must use scope" is really for stomach tubes not breathing tubes but I would think EMT's would know this. (I would hope)

    Hello

Mytime, do you know what size band you have? I have the VG band and had to have 8 fills before I felt a real good restriction. It sometime takes a couple of good fills to feel the "sweet spot" Hang in there and everything will work itself out.

    photos- 12 mths after band

Holy crap girl, You look FANTASTIC!!! Way to go! Keep up the great work!
  20. My surgery went very well. I got to the hospital at 6:30a.m.. Was taken right into the pre-op room to disrobe, put in IV's, talk to surgeon, etc.. I was given a shot of somekind and was very sleepy when they wheeled me into the OR. Saw surgeon again and they put these funky boots on my legs and that is the last I remember until I was woken up in recovery. I was mad at first because I thought to myself "I wish they would hurry and get this over with!" then the nurse said "Terri, it's over. You did great!" WOW that was easy, I had no pain whatsoever. Just very thursty. Ice chips are great after surgery, they taste soooooooooooooo go! I spent the night in the hospital and was released about 1:00 the next afternoon. I had to stay a little longer because I couldn't pee on my own, I had to have a cath. (YUCK) When I peeed I went home. No pain killers because No pain. just liquid tylenol for the little discomfort I had. I live 3 hours away from Hospital so It was a long drive home. I went back to work the next week! Just remember everyone is different with how they react to surgery. I was just one of the lucky ones. Good luck with your band journey and into a happier and a healthier you!!

    any other az bandster's?

Klynn, I am VERY interested in a support group!!!! PLEASE let me know when and where and I will be there with bells on. I had my surgery in Flagstaff but I live in Pinedale just around the corner from you. As for your question about Dr. Berger? I LOVE HIM AND THINK HE IS THE BEST!! But I think most Bandsters love their surgeons and think they are the best. I trust everything he says! He had always been streight forward with me. He and his office staff are very helpful and careing! Do you get your fills from Wendy Hall? I have had 3 fills from her. Shes great also. If it wasn't for her I probably wouldn't have been able to get my band. She helped me through all the pre surgery paperwork and all that fun stuff. Wendy's #1 in my book! Again, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know about any support groups you are starting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
