    Newbie From Arizona

Hi Samantha, Welcome to LBT from another Arizona gal! Where in AZ are you from? I live near Show Low. My decision to get the band was the BEST decission I ever ever ever made!!!! Like Sallyjo said, You can expect wonderful things from the band If you work with your band. It has been so easy at times and then it has been soooooooooo hard at times. But all worth it in the end!! I still have about 50lbs to lose. But with the band I know it is Possible!!! Good luck to you!

    Vote now......

I voted on this in March when Jenna first posted it. I voted "No, never pre or post." Well I quess I now have to change my vote to "Yes, after banding" because I leave tomorrow for a Friday morning surgery to have my GB removed.

OH my GAWD I got a tattoo!

WOW Penni, Great tattoo!! I wish I were brave enough to get one. Happy belated Birthday!!
  7. As I told you all a while ago I have been having trouble with my gall bladder. Well I went and saw my surgeon on Friday and He said it has to come out. That an infected GB can infect my band and then I would lose my band. NO WAY!! My surgery is Friday the 15th. I will have to stay overnight because of my disability and the fact that I live so far away from hospital. He said it's better safe than sorry. I agree! I swear when I get to Heaven (many many years from now) I am going to ask God why he put all this stuff in us that we don't really need!! Oh well, Wish me luck, Pray for me or send me white lights, what ever you believe just send it my way. SEE YA!

I have to have another surgery :(

Thanks Crystal!! I walked around the hospital on my crutches, but I couldn't have done that a year ago!!! Last year it was wheelchairs or scooters. I even went on a 2 mile hike this past weekend. It was put on by my surgeons office. Well, I walked some of it anyways. I did have to ride a scooter a little of it. 2 miles on a dirt path! Yeah me!!! God I love this band!!
  9. WOW, everyone looks fantastic!! Great job to all!! Here is mine. 1 month after surgery 1 year bandiversary 20 months Keep up the great work everyone!! Isn't this band GREAT!!!!!!!

I have to have another surgery :(

I got all my pre-op done today. I feel as if I walked 100 miles in that hospital. I had to have blood test, ekg, chest x-ray and urine test. Well at least that part is over. Wednesday they are going to call me for pre-admit so I don't have to drive the 3 hours and then back. and then back again on Friday. Talk to ya later!!

I have to have another surgery :(

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and prayers. I'm not really that nervous about this surgery but I am bummed I have to have it. My surgeon said it would be easier because of my weight loss so it should be a piece of cake. Hugs to all and again Thanks!

  15. I have been having lots of pain in my stomach, side and back for a couple of weeks and it is just getting worse. It hurts after I eat. but not like a band problem. Food is going down great but a few mins later I am almost doubled over in pain. I can't drink water at all. but I can drink juices. I went to my Family Dr. and he thinks it's my gall bladder. Of course when I went to see him I was feeling GREAT. Wouldn't you know it!? He started pushing around on my stomach and I was telling him " I have no pain today" and then he pushed on the right side of my stomach and IT HURT!! He said that is where my gall bladder is. I am going in for a HIDA scan on Friday. I am going to still get a unfill for a little while but I can't get into that appointment until next Tuesday the 22nd. It may sound funny but I am praying for it to be my gall baldder and NOT my band. I still need my band but I don't need my gb. Please everyone Pray, chant, sent white lights or what ever you believe. I can use all the help I can get right know! Thanks everyone, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!!

I may have gall baldder troubles.

UPDATE ON MY GB!! I went to the hospital for the HIDA scan on Friday. 15 min into the test they stopped and told me to get up, have 3 cups of water and they would come and get me again in 20 min. Did all that and they still couldn't get the gb to show up. so off to ultrasound to see what they could find. She can see a few stones. I then was taken back to the HIDA scan to try again. They could not finish the test. Too much blockage. They couldn't tell me anything that needed to be done so I have to wait until Thursday to see my Dr. AAAARRRRHHHHHH!!!! I am still going to get a unfill on Tuesday. I am so weak because I just can't eat or drink. But I do force the fluids down so I wont get dehydrated.(fingers crossed) I can't eat, I can't drink and I can't sleep! I think I am falling apart at the seams! Thanks for listening to me whine! You all are the best!!

    Doctors in Iowa or Illinois?

Hi, sorry I can't help you with your questions but I just wanted to say, WELCOME TO LBT!!

    Hello from Hong Kong

HI MICHAEL, WELCOME TO LBT!! I also will try and answer some of your questions. But remember that everyone is different and the band can only work if you work with it! :) [Is there a lot of vomiting after the surgery? My biggest fear is vomiting, I seem to have some kind of phobia about this - I can count that I have ONLY vomited 3 times in my entire life] I didn't have any trouble with nausia after surgery. The only time I have vomited is when I was not being careful and ate to fast or took too big a spoon full at one time and didn't chew well. Called PB--Productive Burp-- It is not a fun experience and if done a lot it could hurt your band. [After a year or so can one go back to eating (even though its small qty) things like red meat, rice, vegetables & fruits without exception] You should be able to eat these foods a couple of months after your surgery not a year. After surgery I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks then on to mushy foods then after that I was on solid food again. But like Linda, I can't eat breads but who needs the extra carbs. Right? and I have to be VERY CAREFUL with rice, but I can eat it if I eat slow and easy! [Does this really help in reducing hunger pangs all day? My problem is I feel hungry every couple of hours.] The band has helped me with hunger ALOT! But I still have to deal with "head hunger" I am not really hungry but I want to eat damnit!! It is hard sometimes but I just try and find something else to do and stay away from the kitchen! Michael, Good luck and I am sure once you get the band you will love it as much as I do. It is still a lot of work to lose these nasty pounds but the band is a BIG help!! The band is my "BEST FRIEND".
