Jenna, I am so sorry to hear about Jeter. I had to put my beloved dog (Cuddles) down just under 2 months ago. He was in my life for 15 years and I still miss him terrible. He had cancer on his chest 2 years ago and it was removed and He had a very happy 2 additional years. You and your family are in my Prayers.

    opinion on insurance coverage

I have medicare and everything went through the first time. I didn' have to be approved before hand. I quess I was one of the lucky ones. I was ready to fight but didn't need to. If I were you I would fight and tell them how much better the lap-band is.

Concerned Family Members - anyone else?

I think it's a mom's job to worry. My mom was very supportive as was my entire family. They did have concerns because it is surgery and things can go wrong. But the concerns with my weight problems out numbered concerns about surgery. Everyone including co-workers, boss and Friends were behind me 100% and still are!!! Give your mom some info on it and maybe let her read some of LBT. Everyone here is always supportive and maybe they will rub off on her. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Pre-Op, your experience

I too had to do 10 days of clear liquids but ended up doing 15 days because my surgery was postponed 5 days. I was scared to death when they gave me the paper work on the diet. I thought I was going to be soooo weak but I wasn't. I could have 3 cups of milk a day also so that was what I used to fill me up at breakfast, lunch and dinner. not much but it did help. I kept telling myself that I could do it and the end results would be worth it. I NEVER cheated the 15 days before surgery. Was afraid that my Dr. world be able to tell and cancel my surgery. My Dr. told me that the diet was so that my liver would shrink. Like many have said all Dr.'s are different and also all bandsters are different. I Know you can do it. Just think of the end results. A slimer you!!!

Moderator and Privacy Issues on LBT

PLEASE KEEP LBT UP AND RUNNING!!!!!! I don't think I can do this without all the support from all these wonderful people!! I don't have a local support group I can attend. I NEED YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Laura, I too don't like most protein drinks. But I fellow bandster sent me some "UNJURY" to try and it was good. If you go to their web page you can order samples of their 3 different flavors. I really like the chocolate mixed with milk. They also have vanella and unflavored you can mix with crystal light or other liquids. The samples are $1.75 each I think. Good luck with the mushy stage I know it's hard but You can do it!!!! During my mushy stage I ate a lot of cottage cheese and mashed potatoes even though my dr. said no potatoes I needed that change. I am a carb- ahalic. (sp)

    hoarding clothes

Zoe, Of course I am going to give the good ones to a charity. The ones I am going to burn are the ones you can see through. I have lots of old old old clothes that I have been wearing for sooooooo long that no one could wear them after me. There are no fellow bandsters anywhere close to me. I live in a very small mountian town. I am already in some pants that I could not wear 3 months ago!!!!!!!!!! yea for me!!!!

    after the operation.....

I remember being wheeled into the OR ( given drugs before) My Dr. came over to talk to me and them putting on those special boots (love them) Then I remember someone calling my name. I thought to myself I wish they would just get this over with? Then she said it's over. Wow, I felt like I was only just wheeled in there. I had NO pain just very tired. I was put in a room an hour later and slept for a while. They had me walking later that afternoon. but not much because I can't walk with on crutches (spinal disease). Sat on the side of my bed mostly. came home around 3:00p.m. the next day. 3 hour drive home was a little uncomfortible and I couldn't sleep in my bed for a few days. Hurt to lay flat. Slept in a recliner. Back to work 3 days later. Uphill ever since. I can't say it enough I LOVE MY BAND (MY NEW BEST FRIEND)
