    Surgery tomorrow!

I was sleeved on August 5th and I've had a good recovery. I was nervous as well. You can do this!
  3. Went in for my 1 week post op visit... down 12 lbs! Definitely not what I was expecting. Still have the occasional gas pain in my stomach, but otherwise doing well. Last three days, I've gotten my 64 oz in and b/w 60-70 grams of protein. As for my NSV, I actually got my wedding ring on today... first time since May of 2010. My wife is smiling from ear to ear. I'd love to hear how other August 5thers are doing.
  4. Just glad you're ok. Hang in there. BTW, I was sleeved August 5th as well.

    Struggling...4 days post-op

Hang in there. I was sleeved this past Monday, and I can definitely relate w/ where you are. Try some juice... it really perked me up and gave me some calories. You've come a long way, and I know you can handle this. Just pull through.
  6. Came home on Tuesday. Doctor requires clear liquid through today, than I move on to full liquid tomorrow. I've been focusing on getting fluids in. Doctor counts jello as clear liquid, so that has giving me something of substance. Can't stomach chicken broth, even homemade. Not too much pain; very surprised to be walking around so much considering 80% of my stomach is gone. I'm feeling very weak today, especially since I've been fairly active. Looking forward to starting protein shakes tomorrow so I can get some calories in the system. Thus far, would not change a thing.
  7. Hang in there. Keep us in the loop. Prayers sent.

    Need encouragement :(

I was sleeved on Monday. To be quite honest, I don't remember much about Monday, other then I was very persistent in walking up and down my hall. The gas pain is there, but it's not agonizing. It's day three for me, and I'm feeling a little sore. I promise you can handle this surgery.
  9. Well, I made it through. These past few days have been rough, but manageable. To be honest with you, I was completely out of it yesterday. However, I made myself get up as much as possible to walk the halls. This morning was the roughest for me, and think it has to do with the oral pain medication. I have twice; the first was from drinking too fast (it may have been my first foamie?), but the second was definitely related to the medicine. I'm pushing to get as much liquid in as possible, but like so many people have said before, it is tough. I guess I kinda took it for granted. Anyway, the point of all this is to say I made it through two days, and I'm starting to feel a tad bit better. I've got a long way to go, but at least I've finally begun the journey!
  10. After months of research and prep, today is the day. My surgery is at 7 am. I'm definitely scared, but I'm not sure if it's the surgery itself or life after. Regardless, I'm ready for my new "normal" and my new me! Prayers appreciated.

    Sleeve MONDAY!

Good luck. I'm scheduled for Monday as well. I'm using Sytrax Matrix powder (perfect chocolate and strawberry). When I'm busy, I use premade Natures Best Extreme Smoothie. Not my favorite taste, but w/ 35 g of protein, 7 carbs and 170 calories, they get the job done! I've had a 2 week pre-op diet, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. 15 pounds since the 22nd.
  12. Awesome stuff here. One of my goals is to take my kids to Disney World and be able to ride the rides with them!

    thinking about food

I get where y'all are coming from, and I'm two days away from the surgery. This may sound crazy, but I've named that little voice in my head that brings up food Bubba. Every time Bubba starts talking and craving, I tell him there's a new sherriff in town, and he needs to hit the road. Generally, this helps to get me in the right state of mind. Crazy I know, but it's worth a try.
  15. Just got a call from the hospital. My surgery time is set for 7 am on Monday morning. I'm lead off, so I guess that's good... who cares. Just anxious, excited and scared. Ready for a new me!

    Down 14lbs in a week!

Wow... this is awesome to read! With my surgery on Monday this is super exciting to read!

    weird thoughts.

I can't really speak to anything other than the liquid diet issue. I have my surgery this Monday, and I'm currently over a week and a half into the liquid diet phase. YOU CAN DO IT! The first day was rough, but over the next two days it gradually got better. Now, two weeks into it, things are going fine. I notice empty stomach feelings when I'm not drinking water. At the same time, I've dropped a lot of weight (about 12 pounds thus far) and I feel almost cleansed. I'm an emotional eater in a very high-stress job (a recipe for disaster). However, after the first three days something clicked mentally for me, and I started seeing the input (shakes, jello, etc.) as nothing more than fuel. Good luck with your decision. After Monday, I'll try and follow up on this thread w/ my post-op feelings.
  18. Congrats! That's awesome stuff.
