  1. I was tested before surgery with an EGD when they discovered my hiatal hernia. I couldn't tell which was causing me grief after surgery the sleeve surgery or the repair of the HH...... I think it was a combination of both. The swelling of the espogus and sleeve after surgery made it hard for me to drink fluids and I had a huge amount of nausea with some vommitting.... I had to stay in the hospital longer as I wasn't getting all my fluids in for one thing. The dr. says that sometimes the sleeve patients have more nausea post surgery than the bypass patients..... This is my story but everyone is different. I think everyone should know what could happen after surgery so you won't be surprised later. I had no idea that i would have reacted so severely with nausea post surgery because a lot of people don't have this problem.... :) Good Luck with your surgery.

I too had all of the above things you mentioned. Severe pain drinking for 4-6 weeks. Nausea. I threw up,almost every day the first 3 months! I'm 8 months out, and how easily I have forgotten how I felt after surgery!

  2. Hey all of you May 2013 sleevers!!!!! How are you guys???? We are almost 9 months out. What are everyone's results this far? I've lost 50lbs, started at 239, a little slower then I thought :(. What's working for everyone??? Would love to hear from all of you...

  3. I had surgery on 5/17/13. I had 2 drinks on my birthday, August 2, (cosmos). I got buzzed after 2 sips. You will get buzzed really fast! But what's weird is the buzz goes away really fast. I was a pretty big drinker before surgery. I drank 1-2 a week. In the summer, and the Holiday's maybe even 3 times a week. I enjoy girl time, a glass of wine with dinner, or a beer with the hubby. However after surgery, I've had sort of an aversion to alcohol. I don't know how to explain it. Since August, I've drank maybe once a month, mostly vodka mixed drinks, and had no issues, and have enjoyed them. I think like with anything else, moderation is key! I also stay away from anything bubbly. Sadly no more beer for this girl. Good Luck, and as with everything make sure your doctor clears you to drink!

  4. I had Cigna, and they paid for my sleeve last May. I had to meet with my surgeon, or nutritionist, or doctor once a month for 6 months. I had a sleep apnea test, and meet with the psychologist, and that was it. It took 2-3 weeks to get approved. They tried to deny me at first, and then I was approved by the appeal department. I heard that was common with Cigna.

  5. This was one thing that I found little info about. I was the same just wanting to look normal like I was before kids' date=' weight gain and weight loss. I sd to Dr S that I wanted a large C/small D. He gave me a t-shirt and then plastic sizers to put under to be able to see what they would look like. I tried 240 cc to 300cc. I decided I liked the look of the size 260cc as it looked more natural for me.

Now in stating that the actual cc amount he puts in depends on the width of your chest and what will fit in the pocket area. As I have a smaller area I actually only received 240cc but it looks like the 260cc did. Drs will help you with the decisions as well. In saying that after surgery I wish I had went just a little bigger (but I'm not sure if it was bc I was swollen everywhere which made them look smaller than I thought. Now I am completely happy with the size)

    Hope that helps.[/quote']

I had implants done, 10 years ago, and had 480ccs, for a full D. My doctor said he did more re-dos of women that hadn't gone big enough. I have never regretted my size and LOVE my breasts!!!! Good luck!

  6. 2 weeks today! How are you? How much have you lost?

I am feeling muchhhh better :) going back to work today .... I am not hungry at all :) still on the full liquid diet (until next Monday) ... Trying to go to the park 3-4 times per week. Ive lost 10 lbs pre op and 11 post op (not as much as other people on here) but hey the scale is moving in a good way :) .... All this does get better! :)

Nice work! I had surgery on the 17th of May. I'm down 22lbs. Started at 238, surgery day. I can't keep anything, but Protein shakes, Jello , and little sips of Water. DON''T get me wrong, I'm super happy about the weight, loss. However, I'm always tired, feeling dizzy, and the smell of food makes me want to puke. Does anyone else feel the same?

  7. I've been trying to take little sips all day and I know that I'm not getting in all that I should' date=' but I'm doing better every day. Sometimes I do get a gassy feeling when I take a drink...even if it's not a real big sip. I keep thinking it's related to the gas from the surgery.

As of last night, I started getting a weird metallic taste in my mouth. Today I noticed that my tongue has a grey-ish coating on it as well. It's making all my fluids taste horrible. I think it must be ketosis?[/quote']

Metallic taste is normal, I had it as well. my doctor said that your taste buds may change after surgery. Everything tastes metallic, except, sugar- free Jello, muscle milk light chocolate, propel, and sugar free crystal light. Maybe for the best, as I ALWAYS loved eating, :(. Friday will be 2 weeks, Metallica taste, is still here, :(. Anyone else, have metallic taste, for how long, does it ever go away? Thanks do the responses :).

  8. Was just wondering how long people had to wait to hear back from their insurance?? I'm not in too much of a hurry to get approval since I was planning on taking time off of work for my surgery (in August. Didn't know it would be this fast).

28 days, Cigna Insurance after a 6 month waiting period

  9. Hey!

I have a bit of a weird question' date=' how big of an issue are stomach noises post-op? I have read on these forums that this happens many and am a bit concerned because I have quite a bit of schooling left (6 years) where I have to sit in quiet class rooms. Mainly, how long does the growling last after surgery? Thanks!

Surgery date, of 5/17/13, and my stomach growls all the time as well. When I wake up, am laying down, when I am walking around. It has nothing to do with the eating or drinking. I'm having what sounds like the same things you are having. I don't know how long it lasts. This Friday will be 2 weeks post-op for me. You?

  10. Can anyone who is post-opt gives me some examples of what you ate (drank) after surgery at home? My surgery is Wed. in a city about 3 hours from home and I wanted to have everything I need here so my husband doesn't have to do a bunch of running. From the day you got out and into the non clear liquid phase. I appreciate your feedback.

I had Gatorade G2, 15 calorie Lemonade, Muscle Milk Light chocolate from costco, sugar free Jello brand strawberry and orange Jello, other brand jellos, were NOT good, tasted weird after surgery, chicken broth, plain (no flavor) Protein powder mix, and LOTS of Soup, Tomato, potato, butternut squash. Make sure you have a Protein bottle mix, cup with a whisk in it. You can get them at the health food store, I have 2, one for shakes, and one, to mix, soup, and add the unflavored protein to it. You will need one! Lots of magazines, or books.

  11. I'm drinking! I'm drinking! I'm drinking! And it's not getting stuck!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! I am not burping it right back up!! It's not causing tummy heaves or mouth sweats. I'm drinking!!!!

So' date=' should I Water down my gatorade?I like it better than Crystal light, I've had less than 50 calories in 3.5 days and for today, I think I need to take what I can get. I don't mind it watered down but I do think I need the electrolytes Crystal Light won't provide.

Did I tell you that I am finally drinking???[/quote']

Me too!!!! I can finally drink without the horrible pain, I had the first 4 days. YEAH, happy for you!!!! One week for me!!!!

  12. I'm very happy! 9lbs down already! Sometimes I feel like I can't breath if I have to yawn or something. I won't lie I am getting a little anxious for some real food since I'm still on liquids. Anything help you guys with the anxiety? Also sometimes I feel sharp pain' date=' it lays only a few seconds, maybe 10, but I feel like my stomach wants to jump out! Is this normal? Any tips on anxiety or overall!? Good luck to everyone on this exciting journey, I'm a stranger but I'm on your team and I'm proud of all of you for making this choice for a better life. Here to give and receive support! Xoxo P.S. my husband is currently gone on deployment so when he gets back any tips on I guess helping him adjust to my new eating habits!? All comments appreciated! God bless![/quote']

Tomorrow will be 1 week since I got sleeved! The sharp chest pain is normal. My doctor said it's from drinking to fast. I feel as if each day that goes by, I get better and better, and you will as well. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery. As far as the anxiety, try deep breathes, or try a walk, good luck and God Bless you too!
