  1. I was sleeved on 5/14/2013. I feel normal as well. I have also had thoughts about food. The thing to remember is that the surgery is a tool not a cure all. For me it is important to continue therapy' date=' support group and seeing a nutritionist so that I can continue to work on the behaviors that caused me to become overweight while learning new and healthier ways of eating and coping with the old thoughts and behaviors. I am just starting on my road to recovery as well. I did have some time before surgery to begin to address some of those issues surrounding eating behaviors, etc. I don't think it will be a worry if we continue on the road to recovery. I wish you the best in your own journey.[/quote']

We should keep in touch. Jevans901@aol.com.

  2. Have you been sleeved or thinking about it? If you're thinking about it' date=' I can tell you it has worked for me. I've been overweight my entire life and have tried every method on earth to lose weight. It is scary but for me it was worth it. My health has improved and I feel great!! I haven't had hair loss. I've heard alot of people say they have lost hair so I try to get in plenty of Protein and take prenatal Vitamins (even though I'm not pregnant)!![/quote']

Yes I was sleeved 5/14. I'm Pretty worried about my hair, but I'll be ok. You look amazing.

  3. Surgery was May 16th' date=' and I'm supposed to be on full liquids for 2 weeks, pureed foods for 2 weeks, mushy food for 2 weeks, and then normal food. But it is day 5 and I've had NO trouble getting anything down, and I've had some thicker stuff that was on the pureed list.... And I even had a bite of salmon yesterday... and some Tomato Soup (that I unknowingly ate not realizing I'm not supposed to have because of the sugar and possibility of dumping) and I had NO issues with it......... I know it's good that I'm not having trouble, but it makes me feel like something is wrong. I mean, I am eating 4 oz. at a time like I'm told, and eating slowly, but still........... Is this bad??[/quote']

I would love to have salmon and mash potatoes. I would love to eat the puréed food. Pure fear and the unknown keeps me from moving forward. Having the sleeve should keep us discipline not to go back into our habits or obsession with food. I was sleeve on 5/14 and still on my Clear Liquids. It's not worth the risk.

  4. Thanks for your help I will have to go food shopping and buy all these healthy tips ideas you are giving me

Think about the struggle of having the surgery, the pain and discomfort. Think about the way your clothes fitted in the past. How miserable you were hanging with smaller friends. Think about trying to find a stronger chair to sit in and pray it doesn't break. Think about the plane and bus rides the tightness. Think about the quality of life.

I was sleeved on 5/14/13. I will not allow the pain I'm going through go in vain. I am determine to live. Just remember why u had it done and you will get back on track. We will fall down, now it's time to stand up and continue.

  5. Had my surgery on Friday 5/17. I've been doing fairly well' date=' thankfully. Over the past two days, I've noticed a horrible taste in my mouth. I think I have read somewhere something about ketosis setting in. I used to love Crystal Light fruit Punch and stocked up for after surgery. I can't stomach it anymore. ( no pun intended). And... It's not my stomach that has issues with it, it's my mouth... The after taste. Anything that has a "sweet" taste, actually gives me the same yucky taste in my mouth. Any thoughts, suggestions, advice????

I have heard thru these forums about Sonic ice. I had my husband drive there last night. He bought 2 - 10# bags of ice for me. This will hopefully be my answer to getting liquids in, as Water doesn't taste any better to me.

Looking forward to hearing any advice.

    Thank you!! :-)[/quote']

I had my sleeve on 5/14/13. On the 4 th day I had a bad taste as well. I believe it came from the sweet crystal light, Gummy Vitamins, liquid lortab All with a sweet taste. Try chicken broth, that's what helped me.

  6. It depends on your level of deficiency... But I would say no. You can also cause some serious damage by taking too much so be careful' date=' what is the doc saying?[/quote']

I am postoperative day 6. My potassium dropped postoperative day 1. I'm taking liquid K+ twice daily. Take your medicine as ordered and follow up with your doctor regular. K+ affects the muscles, this includes your heart. I'm a Lil dehydrated its hard to drink without having severe cramps.

  7. Thanks everyone' date=' just hearing that others had some of the same problems makes me feel better. I will definitely try your suggestions, somethings got to work. I was getting kind of depressed and told my husband that maybe I shouldn't have done this, but he did remind me that it was major surgery and it has only been 3 days. Thanks to all for the support.[/quote']

I had my surgery on 5/14/13 and feeling the same way. I had and a hiatal hernia repair too. When I tries to drink I have a bad discomfort under my left breast and it moves to the center of my chest. I was told to drink 50 oz of liquids daily. I'm only consuming 10 oz due to the pain and feeling of something being stuck in my esophagus. In the hospital I was nauseated and dry heving. K+ dropped. Praying for better days.
