  1. Like many others I have struggled with my weight since childhood. Then as a teenager it was discovered that I had a brain tumor. I underwent surgery and the tumor was removed' date=' it was benign (thank you Jesus). However my pituitary gland was destroyed/removed with the tumor. As you can imagine since the pituitary controls everything, I encountered all new hormonal, medication, and weight issues. As well I have an inoperable aneurysm (that is monitored yearly and I do not need excess weight with this health concern). I have tried every diet and experienced some success and a lot of no success with my weight. So at the age of 39 I have decided that I need to do something about my other illness (obesity). TOMORROW ( can't believe I just typed that) I will have VSG surgery and begin my journey of a better, healthier, and motivated new me!!! I look forward to sharing my journey and experiences with anyone that wants to read about them. Thank you for allowing me to tell a little about myself, and any prayers for tomorrow are appreciated.

  2. Congrats!! My surgeon told me after my egd that I have "a really large stomach" I laughed and said "I know that is why I am having the surgery" he laughed too....he meant the inside of the stomach was huge and explains why my stomach growls all the time! Good luck!!

    Lol ...thanks ...

  3. Thanks everyone. I'm going to ask my surgeon tomorrow what he thinks I should do. My husband said the same thing about going to another doctor. But I was sooo mad this morning I almost went to McDonalds and got 5 hashbrowns but I didn't cause I knew that would send me over and once that's happens there is no going back .

Send me a private message maybe I can help.. mydetoxnurse@aol.com

  4. Hi I am a 59 year old woman' date=' I just had my surgery for the sleeve on May 7th 2013. I was 312 Lbs. My surgery was with Dr. Thomas Umbach. Like the rest of you have struggled all my life since after having my first child with my weight. A big up down roller-coaster. Nothing I tried worked for very long and as usual came back to haunt me even more adding it plus. Yes very discouraging. So began my 6 year fight to get the surgery, when I say fight yes a fight for my life that the hospital here just didn't seem to get or care for that matter. So began my search and basically threat to my base Dr. to get off the pot and help or I would be going on my own to Mexico. Hubby was not about me going there right now anyway. I then found a wonderful Lady named Sharon whom is with belite. She got my insurance and surgery set up in a month. though it was in Las Vegas, NV.at least hubby was satisfied state side and was going with me. we flew out on the 4th and made it a vacation as well. To me was the best ever vacation and Hubby was and is my life long hero. for he has stood by and let me cry when I need to which is a lot for some reason lately, yet just emotional happy tears. And has fought with me every step so far of this journey I am going. He is my strength, when I feel I am weakening, he pulls me up by the boot straps and reminds me how far I have come already. If you have that someone in your court by all means hang on to them Support is what keeps you strong and believe me I have learned if nothing else strength determination and will power are hand in hand. God bless you all and many prayers to help you through. The picture is me before surgery and one with the wonderful staff and me at hospital on the day I was leaving to go home. Thanks for reading, Robin [/quote']

  5. Just FYi' date=' I passed the leak test today! Yay!! fingers crossed for no 'late leaks'!!!! or any complications. Super tired and the pain meds make me very agitated and restless so I might ditch them... ready to feel 'normal' but I realize this is a new normal, and it may take a while. THANK YOU ALL for your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it!!!!! xoxoxoxox[/quote']

Awesome ...good thoughts and wishes ...

  6. June 3rd. Started preop diet 3 days early. If I "slip" I'm not so hard on myself. Excited and nervous. Is it weird I'm afraid of losing weight? Anyone else have that feeling?

I feel excited but I can't lie it feels scary too for me its the EGD making me nervous and the losing weight is exciting but remember change is different so it can be scary cause its unknown ..have faith !!! It will be for the better ...im praying for u and me too :)

  7. Hi Myrna' date=' congrats to both you and your daughter!! I also have many Co morbidity issues but my knee pain is the worst...I am still waiting for approval from my insurance Co though...the EGD is a cinch!! Don't worry it is quick and easy. Good luck to both of you!![/quote']

Thank u so much ..I'm so glad this forum is here ...I'm overwhelmed with the kindness here ...

  8. Why are you forced to purchase the pre-op diet from them? Just curious.

The NUT says it has to be a MD followed diet and if I want to get the surgery that I have to do the pre-op diet through them or the MD won't do the surgery. my daughter went to her pre- op diet NUT appointment yesterday and called me told me she needed to get the post-op diet too...so I'm not sure what they told her but she was made to believe that it is necessary. she is getting a bypass at the same place. Unfortunately I can't help her pay for the post op since I've already helped with some of the pre op which was 249. So I wanted to make sure that there was other sources of obtaining the necessary post op needs ....thank u everyone for your responses
