I was sleeved on May 21st. After reading all the horror stories I was prepared for the worst and cried all the way to the OR (literally). It was totally opposite from everything I was expecting!!! Yes, the first 24 hours were rough, but anyone will have a rough time the first 24 hours after any surgery! I have pain on one incision, the one on the left where they removed the stomach. I had a hard time drinking plain Water, but added Crystal Light and all was good. I look back to what an emotional mess I was before surgery and laugh, but I think that is pretty normal. I thank God every day and I pray for those that have had complications...but this really has been much easier than I expected! Good luck to you!

Three things I never thought I'd want in my house:
1. A big brown ugly recliner
2. A snuggie
3. A plastic shower chair
This is my life:
I sit in the recliner, covered with the snuggie with the remote in one hand and my iPhone in the other. I watch trash tv all day in my room with the door closed while taking double the pain meds. I smoke pot with my cousin about twice a day. I sip Premier Protein shakes. I chew ice. I worry about this pain and that pain and wether they are normal. I walk. My grandmother gave me a bell to ring. My husband rubs my hands and thighs till I fall asleep at night.
This is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Don't hate
I envy you!!! lol

Yes. You chose your surgeon, you should be following their guidelines.

Yes, that is true. All surgeons are different. You should ask your surgeon.

It felt like the tube was wrapped around my intestines & could feel my insides moving around while they pulled it out. Literally took my breath away. Painful isn't the word. I definitely wasnt ready for it and luckily it only lasted about 10 seconds. Everyone on here says it feels weird...well, yes it does. But it also hurt. I cried. It was the nastiest feeling I have ever felt in my life.

Congratulations, that is awesome!! What was your weight before surgery? Would love to see pictures!!

My surgeon only does the leak test during surgery. I was kind of disappointed when I found out he wouldnt be doing another one before I left the hospital. I think what you should really be worried about is when they take the drain out...now that was the absolute worst part of the whole surgery for me. I would pay money to never have to feel that again.

MariaL, No... I can take deep breaths, yawn, cough, sneeze, etc with no problem. But I can't stand or walk too long or I am doubled over in pain with my back. I still cant sleep comfortably on my bed, it hurts to lay on my right side and can't sleep on my back because of the pain. Ready for this to go away!

Did they give you Pepcid or any type of Antacid? I was having the same problem (feeling hungry, and not head hunger). I posted about it on here & someone told me that sometimes acid in the stomach mimics feeling hungry. I am only a week post op and due to the stomach being swollen and the nerve damage from surgery, there is no way I could really be having hunger pains. Sure enough, I had not been taking the Pepcid I was prescribed when I left the hospital. Started taking it yesterday and havent felt hungry since!

You can return them and get your money back. They will even send you a shipping label so you dont have to pay to send it. I got my money back within 5 days. BTW- mine was open and used, just didnt like it.

So thankful for all of your posts. I was sleeved on May 21st and am experiencing terrible back pain and still very sensitive to get up and down when sitting. I keep reading people who were sleeved the same day as I was and say they are having no pain. Thankful to know I am not the only one! Another reason why we shouldn't compare our journey to others...but was getting concerned that something may be wrong!

That is funny, my friend was just telling me to chew steak and spit it out. I was wondering if that was a common thing that people in the liquid phase do!?
