I was sleeved on Tuesday, 5/21 and I had the same question. A family member brought me Miralax...is that ok to take?

    Im struggling preop diet

My preop diet was 2 weeks of protein shakes/bar and a light dinner (5 oz protein and 2 cups vegetables). When it gets hard or you want to "cheat", remind yourself of why you are doing this. How embarrassing would it be if you woke up from surgery only to be told they didnt perform the sleeve because your liver was too large/fatty. Also, the preop diet really helps you mentally prepare for life after surgery. You can do this!! Stay strong!! The only person you would be cheating is yourself.

    What to have ready...

Oh and if you are going to be in the car, I would make sure the hospital is going to give you a binder...it really does help with any bumps!!! (it helped me a lot and I still wear it in the car, but I am only 4 days post op!!)

    What to have ready...

G2 Gatorade, Vitamin Water Zero, Water w/Crystal Lite, Chicken Broth, French Onion Soup (strained, no onions), Sugar Free Popsicles, Pure Whey Protein powder mixed with water (chocolate.& vanilla, bought at GNC). Be sure to take chapstick with you to the hospital, it saved my lips!!! Good Luck!
  6. I have decided to only tell close family and few friends. I have told people at work I was having a hernia repair (which is true, just left out the sleeve) and that I have started eating healthy and exercising (truth).

    NOW it starts to hit

Don't forget chapstick!! Out of everything I packed, I used the chapstick the most!! Good luck on your journey!!
  9. My surgeon didn't tell me how long to wait before drinking alcohol. He did tell me to say goodbye to Margaritas! :-( He said they have way too much sugar. I think the trade off is fair. I can say goodbye to beer & Margaritas in exchange for a better body & better health. Maybe you could start off trying some wine...
  10. I was told apple juice has way too much sugar & needs to be diluted.
  11. I am so sorry you aren't feeling well! Have you talked to your doctor?

First night home, How to sleep?

I was sleeved on Tuesday and have been sleeping in my recliner since I came home. Also took a nap propped up on the couch with tons of pillows!

Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

It isnt like you will never be able to eat again. You will have all the things you love, just in smaller portions. Maybe you should be attending an over-eaters group. Sounds like you weren't mentally prepared for this.

    Spitting up

I was told the fever was due to me not getting enough fluids and not walking enough. Sure enough, I pushed the liquids & started walking every hour and no more fever! I spoke to my surgeon & he said the only time I need to worry about a fever is if 1. It wont break with more fluids/more walking or 2. It goes higher than 101.5.

    Spitting up

I was sleeved on Tuesday and I still can't keep any water down without feeling like I am going to vomit. I am still in the hospital & running a fever of 101... I guess you can say I am in the "buyers remorse" stage!!!
  16. I check in at noon today! Still doesnt feel.real! Super nervous & cant stop crying!! Good luck today everyone!!!
  17. Yay, mine is tomorrow too! So scared, nervous, excited, happy, etc... Good luck!!!

    Who Are You?

Hello! I am a 33 year old single mom to a beautiful 9 year old little girl. I have struggled with my weight since I was in 6th grade. I work as an accountant in Dallas, TX, where I have lived for almost 3 years. I lost my dad unexpectedly in 2010 and have put on about 50lbs since. I chose the sleeve because I am tired of being tired, tired of the failed diets and tired of being the fat one in the family that ruins all the pictures. I have to be at the hospital at noon tomorrow and I am terrified!! My daughter has cried every night for the past week, afraid her.mommy is going to die in surgery. I cant wait for this to be over and start living my new, healthy life!! Good luck everyone!

    Ughhh this is fustrating

I urge you to follow your doctor's timeline, they really do know what is best. Maybe you should talk to your surgeon and be honest about how you feel. They just might give you the green light, but I wouldnt go making your own rules at this point. Sorry :-( I hope you feel better real soon!

    Smoking?

I am a former smoker. I quit in January (after smoking for 17 years) by switching over to an e-cigarette. My surgeon told me I had to quit at least 6 weeks prior to surgery or it would be cancelled. I put it down for good on February 20th. I urge you to do the same! Good luck!
