  1. Just call on Tuesday and hopefully they can squeeze you in somewhere, which they probably will. If they can't and your surgery has to be rescheduled, just remember- everything happens for a reason! Good luck!

    Pain when drinking

This is completely normal! I was sleeved on Tuesday and had the same pains. Tell him to take it slow. Hopefully he is using gasx strips or something to help with the gas pains. He should be much better in the following days. Stay strong and push through...we are all going to struggle some days, but that doesnt mean we give up!
  3. Awesome!! You are my inspiration!!

    What's wrong with me?

I was sleeved on May 21st. I cried the whole week leading up to surgery and cried the whole way to the operating room. This is a very emotional life change we are going through and only those of us who have been through it understand. I was an emotional mess and even had thoughts of backing out!! I can now honestly say that all the stress was unnecessary, but that is uncontrollable!! I am now 5 days post op and doing GREAT! So happy I didnt back out because of my nerves!! Having all these emotions is completely normal and we all go through it. You will get through the surgery and you will be just fine! Good luck on your journey!
  5. I have kept my surgery private. I had mine done last Tuesday, the 21st. I went to lunch with my girlfriends yesterday & ordered the broth from tortilla soup. No one questioned me. If anyone does in the future, I will simply say I am watching what I eat. If someone is rude enough to keep questioning me after that, then I have no problem telling them I really dont have to explain myself any further. If they are your friends and care about you, the fact that you are changing the way you eat should be enough.

    Keeping it a secret

I have also decided to keep this private, other than telling my daughter and my mom. Personally, I am ashamed that I had to resort to weight loss surgery, but again, that is JUST ME. This is not something I want to "shout from the rooftops"

    2 week pre-op diet?

Sounds like you know the answer, you just want someone to tell you it is ok, but it is NOT OK.

    down 40 pounds!

    You look great! Congratulations!!

    Rapid weight loss......

I have lost 11 pounds in the 4 days I have been home from the hospital. I think everyone is different, but losing quickly right after surgery seems to be common.

    2 week pre-op diet?

I was told no medications (other than prescriptions) 2 weeks prior to surgery. You should definitely ask your surgeon about that.

    2 week liquid diet

All surgeons are different. My 2 week preop diet consist of up to 5 protein shakes/bars a day as well as 5 oz of protein and 2 cups of vegetables (I usually ate a filet mignon and green beans). I love steak and grilled chicken/fish, so I never felt like I was on a diet. I would be sick if someone told me I had to eat chili for 2 days, much less two weeks. Some people can only have liquids. Why it is different or what doctor is right, we will never know...and who cares. If you chose your surgeon, then have faith what they are telling you to do is best.

    2 week liquid diet

I used and still use Pure Whey protein powder from GNC (both chocolate & vanilla are yummy), Isopure from GNC and an unflavored protein powder to mix in soups, also bought at GNC. Any time you feel like cheating, just remember why you are doing this and the risk of your liver not shrinking enough if you do cheat. It is only two weeks out of your life. Good luck, stay strong- you can do this!!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Again, everyone is different. But if I have lost 12 pounds in 4 days, I am pretty sure I will lose the same or more than you have in 2 weeks. Everyone looses differently. Just go with the flow and enjoy it. If you are that concerned, talk to your doctor.
  14. I was sleeved on Tuesday, May 21st. My surgeon said it is way too early to be worried about calories. The main objective right now is getting all your protein and water. If you can do that, you will be just fine.

    What's grandma's secret?

They have "skin lighteners" at Walgreens... Not sure if it would work for this, but it might.

    Extra skin!

Everyone is different. There is no way anyone could tell you for sure if you will have loose skin. I know I would rather be healthy with loose skin than be overweight with a saggy belly. Funny to me how people become 400 pounds overweight and are all of a sudden so worried about how they will look if they have this surgery.

    mm still beim over weight

Thank you, Ladydawg!! Everything this woman posts is misspelled and makes no sense.

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

I was sleeved on May 21st and I have lost 23 pounds. I lost 11 on the preop diet and I have lost 12 since coming home from the hospital! So, if you have lost 25 in two weeks, that sounds about right to me! Just remember, everyone loses differently, you can't compare your loss to anyone else's.
  19. I know women who have had this surgery and swear by the Chinese Herb Sheng Fa. I was sleeved on Tuesday & will start taking Sheng Fa when I start.all my vitamins. I urge you to at least google it.

    How many incisions?

    One large, four small
  21. I personally think you look great! I guess when people are used to seeing you look a certain way, change is extreme. But, being that I have never seen you before, I think you look healthy and fabulous!
  22. 9 times out of 10, people are afraid of the unknown. Maybe you should share some of the material you researched before deciding on this surgery. My family was initially against it, but only because.they were not informed and it scared them. Once I provided them with websites, and material from my surgeon, they all felt better about my decision. At the end of the day, the only person that needs to be ok with your decision is you.
  23. Isopure is very good for you, if you haven't tried it, you should. At the end of the day, no matter which ones you choose, protein shakes are a vital part of your recovery. I drink Pure Whey from GNC as well as the Isopure. They are really good.

    surgery on Wednesday!

Walking is fine, actually feels good.to be up walking. I live on the second floor, so I have been going up & down the stairs alot, which is no big deal. I am driving & have already been out to eat with friends (i had broth at the restaurant) and went to a bbq yesterday (and sipped on my protein shake). Of course, everyone is different, but I am sure you will be fine!

    surgery on Wednesday!

I was also sleeved on Tuesday. The first two days were not fun, but not nearly as bad as I had anticipated either. I feel great today, getting all my liquids in (which on day one & two I thought was impossible!!), and I will be going back to work on Tuesday! Good luck, you will do great!!!
