Mine was kind of high risk because I've been on blood thinners for 4 years. I have a genetic mutation in my blood. Most patients don't feel as much pain as I did, and I assume that my sleeve took longer to heal because I had to inject high dosis of blood thinners ( ordered by my hematologist) 1 month after surgery. But still...it was a great surgery and I'm greatful.

I am amazed everytime I see that video. Dr. P. Does all that in half hour! And I forgot to mention he likes to use Doctor's Hospital in Pontiac. I was treated like ROYALTY.

I believe Dr. Pleatman told me he does that to check for leaks. If he finds a leak on the table, then there is a leak in the sleeve.

Dr. Pleatman recorded my surgery, I asked for a copy, uploaded on youtube. 24 mins long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2BtyBV6nBE&feature=youtube_gdata_player 48 days later after this surgery and I cannot believe how wonderful I am doing. Dr. Pleatman is in Michigan, I was covered by BCBS but the bulk of his patients come from out of state to pay cash. Having a surgeon with his experience and excellent reviews warranties a future without complications. I was going to a different surgeon but just when I was in my 6 month pre surgery medically supervised diet, I read about Dr. Pleatman, called the office, and switched. Best decision of my life! He is just a phone call/ email away. But I didn't have to bother him. I followed all post op instructions so my recovery was great! As of today I lost 34 lbs on my way to reach my target goal of 60 lbs down.

Who Are You?
Thank you for understanding and kind words. This is a huge world we are living. Lots of people but endless loneliness. I live in MI but all my family is out of state. It's just me and my 3 teenagers. I am always alone. The ex husband and his family is my only family...but it gets weird at times because of his wife. I love MI, his schools are the best, and my job is with the State. So relocating it's not an option. I am one month and 1 week post op. Lost 30 lbs. I have 50 to go for wph. But my bones are huge, so another 30 and I will be great. I'm eating chicken, fish, and that Pasta plus that has tons of Protein. Greek yogurt, carb master milk, kashi protein Fiber Cereal, banana, couscous, yogurt frozen bars, and tons of Crystal Light. Every day the same food with little variation. There has not being a date where I ate more than 600 calories. Portions of 2 to 3 ounces. I'm anxious and nervous about this changes. I am nervous about being pretty... being noticed by men. Never happened before. I was the chaser. When I was in "love" was rescue missions to help men in worse psychological shape than myself. But now I not only dropped the mental weight but the actual physical weight. Eventually...I will be so light that I will float.

Who Are You?
I am invisible. All my postings have been ignored in this forum and not even MI buddies have replied to me. I am invisible in the world ( fat women get ignored everywhere) and I am still invisible in cyberspace.

I want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike...
(Once upon a time I raced mountain bikes. Then my health complicated, my weight soared, and I gave up the only thing that makes me feel alive. My garage looks like a bike shop. There is a drawer full of cycling jerseys, shorts, socks, Sidis, lights, etc. 2 days ago I tried my favorite jersey...it fits again. But I am TERRORIZED of going back. Do I still have the mad skills? Am I still fearless? ) Re saddle: get you butt fitted for a saddle at a bicycle shop. Buy the perfect fit saddle. You will never complaint again.

Surgery day--what to take with me?
I did wear a shoulderless summer dress in the hospital... and everyday for 2 weeks. It was great! You will have monitors glued to your chest. This kind of dress makes it super easier. The gown is too confusing. I went back to work at week 3. All I wear is lose dresses.

May sleeverss ONLY !
May 23. I am eating greek yogurt, soft cheese, black beans, 1/4 banana, Special K Protein plus cereal with carb master milk. All food: 1 to 3 ounces maximum. Not wasting my calories with carbs yet. The yogurt has fruit. That's all the carbs I eat...beans are carbs but also protein. I realize that most of us are doing an Atkins diet or The Zone...without meaning to. No wonder I'm losing so much weight! 27 lbs already. I am not looking forward to eat the food that made me overweight. Gave up a lot... forever.

Frustrated #failure
after one week of bloating and gaining ( ?)... today the scale showed 5 lbs less. getting my period was a factor, I guess. Everyone at the office keep saying I'm getting skinny but I could not see it. Then my favorite dress did not fit me anymore... yay!

BORICUA..wepppaa
Hi. I had my sleeve May 23. I cook for my kids delicious puertorrican food...wepa! You can eat beans! Habichuelas negras o rojas are great source of protein. Mash them with a bit of rice. Make it soupy. Or use quinoa or couscous instead of rice. Make "pollo guisado" and blend the chicken breast with the salsa, turn it into thick soup. Don't give up sofrito taste "mis panas"!

Looking for a buddy in michigan!
I had my surgery May 22 at Doctor's Hosp. This is VERY HARD. It will be great if we could all get together once a month. I don't know you guys, but I'm giving up my social life for a while. What use is to go out if I cannot eat ? Still on pureed diet, went to a birthday party, left after half hour. There was so much food... it was torture. I have to admit I miss food. Not hungry...its a mental thing. I wish to find someone who I can call and complain or cry on each other's shoulder. Someone who will understand and support each other. Our emotions are a roller coaster right now. A good friend will make things easier.

Surgery Date 05-23-13
How are you all doing? My surgery was a success. I was in a lot of pain, but it didn't last long. As of today I can hold 3 ounces of liquids, strained soups, and a container of greek yogurt. I am living off greek yogurt. I had a problem with whey shakes, they are disgusting. So I am drinking hemp shakes. I have lost 20 lbs so far. Unbelievable. I hope you all feel as good as I do. What a blessing!
