    New Blender - Magic Bullet?

I'm actually thinking of getting a second one to keep at my mom and dads house so I don't have to pack it with me when I go to visit them.... I'll have to check out the JCP version. Thanks!

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

I started mushies yesterday and have found that I'm scared to eat too much, as I'm scared I'll get sick. I also have to make myself go slow after not eating for weeks. We went out for mexican last night and I got a side order of beans and couldn't eat half of them. I also put a little guacamole on there for some green :tongue2: Boy was it yummy!!!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I am officially on mushies now!! Woohoo!!! I came home to enjoy some cottage cheese before going grocery shopping. I figured I'm safer that way, LOL.

    I got a little teary...

I went to the outlets with my mom this past weekend. The Vanity Fair store had Riders jeans for $6 a pair. So I figured I'd grab some that were smaller and work my way into them for that price. So, I grabbed a size 20. (I am still wearing anything from 24-26 and a lucky pair of 22's from Catherines). So, I went to the fitting room to try to see if they'd go on somewhat well enough for me to tell if they were going to work, height and all... Well, I was floored when they buttoned and zipped! I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I haven't seen a 20 in over 10 years! Now, I know sizes vary... blah blah blah... but for me, less than 2 weeks post-op, it was so very encouraging!! I can't wait to be able to shop anywhere I want!

    Something to commemorate my decision

That's awesome, Beth! Best of luck to you in your new journey! I'm only 2 weeks in, but so far, no regrets and it has been worth it!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I have no idea about slipped bands, but I know where it used to take me a half hour to sip a half cup of liquids, I can practically drink it in 10 min now. That makes me nervous.... I start eating mushies tomorrow. I hope that slows me down some.

    Creative Mushies

I'd forgotten about the mashed cauliflower from my Atkin's days! Woohoo! That's not a carby veggie is it?

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

I have no idea about liquid vitamins. I have a hard time remembering to take the others... they're nasty. That's probably not helping me take them any. Can I just say? I'm really hungry!! I go for my post-op on Thursday to be moved to mushies... but I am so ready for them!!! I'm dreaming of food, LOL. So, here I sit.. trying to not think about food.... and I'm really sick of protein shakes... sorry, it's my grumpy day, I guess....

    Sharp Pain

That was the only pain I had after my surgery (in my ribcage). It'll get better. Mine lasted for 2 days, but I did a lot of walking and had my hubby rub my back on my ribs... he said he could actually hear the gas moving when he rubbed me. I also took liquid Tylenol and it helped with the pain. Good luck! It'll get better.

    Creative Mushies

I'm subscribing to this thread, b/c I'm starting mushies on Thursday afternoon (fingers crossed after my post-op with the surgeon!) I'm already planning to make that noodle-less lasagna! YUM

    Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!

You're making me hungry Aubrie!! I'm definitely doing the ricotta with Prego sauce after Thursday when I'm off of liquids! Thanks for the tip!
  15. I've read numerous times about how folks who had high blood pressure or diabetes went off their meds and were "normal" almost immediately after their surgery. Well, I've been monitoring my bp and sugar while continuing my meds and the numbers are no better, in fact my bp has gone up a hair since surgery. Am I expecting too much too quick?? Is there any guarantee that my numbers are going to go to normal? I am enjoying the weight loss, but I mainly got the band to get rid of the diabetic monster and high blood pressure that had invaded my body!

    Should I be concerned?

This is the first week that I'm really going to focus on exercising... I've been trying to walk at least 30 min a day, but from here on out, NO excuses!! Thanks for the continued encouragement and support!

    Sick of Sweets!!

Smashing pumpkins is the name of the group of folks who were banded in October. On a happy note... I figured out a way to eat what I'm supposed to and increase the Protein some... Last night I made tomato soup but instead of using Water to fix it, I used beef broth. It tripled the protein amount per serving. Woohooo!!
  18. So, I've got another week on liquids and the only thing that I'm allowed that isn't sweet is broth or tomato Soup... but I'm so sick of sweets. Whenever I drink a Protein shake, I literally get queezy feeling... any ideas? I've got some unflavored Protein powder from GNC but it's slimey and makes me wanna gag, so I can't use that... I know I shouldn't be whining, but this is what I'm considering the bandster hell... that and the passing gas/bad breath... ugh! :rolleyes2:

    Sick of Sweets!!

Thanks guys!! I don't get it, I'm allowed to have low sugar yogurt right now as long as it doesn't have seeds or big chunks of fruit... what's the difference in that and cream soups??

    Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!

You mix yogurt or cottage cheese with hummus? I love hummus and had forgotten about that... how's the protein for that? I'm really looking forward to mushies next Thursday!!!

    Holy Protein Cow! Cottage Cheese!

I saw the greek yogurt at Walmart the other day but was afraid to try it... then again, I'm so sick of the sweets right now, it might be a good thing to try... maybe mix in some savory seasonings....

Anyone else go through this ? Help!

I'm pretty sure what you're experiencing is normal. For me, my feelings of depression weren't about food, but loneliness. My DH was trying to be supportive by not eating around me, so he'd work all day (while I'm at home with the cats) and then come home drop off his bag from work, give me a kiss and go get some dinner. Then he'd come home an hour later from eating a dinner out either by himself or with his mom and I'd get so sad. Seemed like he was home only in time to watch tv and sleep... I guess our life pretty much revolved around going out to dinner before, so now I'm trying to learn new strategies to cope with the feelings of being alone. Last night I fixed him dinner; I knew I couldn't eat it but I figured if I made it, it was my decision to do so and at least he could stay home with me and eat a dinner I'd fixed while I sipped my broth. Now that I'm less than a week from mushies, I have started dreaming about what I can eat at that stage... but I am pretty sure that's normal too.

    Sick of Sweets!!

Thanks for the tip, Catherine! I'll have to check out GNC soon. BTW, your blog is fabulous!

    Should I be concerned?

Thanks, Jack! I'm trying to keep positive and not expect too much too fast.
