Pain really wasn't my problem, but coming out of the anesthesia after surgery I was nauseous and still very tired! All I wanted to do was to keep my eyes closed. The next morning I felt great and did watch some TV and go for walks around the hospital floor, so it might be nice for you to have your headphones and go for a stroll. Got some major gas pain around 4:30 that night that lasted for a few hours, but since then, no real pain. Everyone is different.

Oh, I do love quiche! I was making those on my soft foods and forgot all about them. Thanks for the reminder. I've not tried ham salad yet, that's a great idea. And what exactly is in spinach souffle? It looks so gross, but I do like spinach. If it has feta in it, even better!
Huge fan of spinach and feta!!

Everyone is different. I had the 20lb lifting restriction on paper for 6 weeks, but after my 2 week follow up with the surgeon, he said not to worry too much about it that you are pretty much healed by now. Still, take it easy and see what your surgeon has to say. It could be as simple as you twisted a little funny when lifting the books without realizing it and just have a little kink.

I seem very limited right now too. All of a sudden I'm starting to feel nauseous after eater most things. I know it is probably just a phase, but kinda stinks! I should be able to add new foods, but I'm afraid to!

So, I think I'm going to take the plunge and sign up for one of the dating sites. For all you single guys and gals, how to you handle going out on a date? Usually most people would go for dinner or drinks, 2 things I really can't do! I'll be 11 weeks out Monday and still only doing 2-3 oz of Protein at meals.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I was out 7, but that was because I got laid off the Friday before my surgery. I definitely could have gone back sooner, but I'm glad I had the extra time to focus on my diet.

I haven't had blood work for that since surgery. I'll be 11 weeks out Monday. My primary knows I've had the surgery and hasn't recommended any updated blood work.

I had my regular period a week before surgery. At the hospital day one post op they took me off my pill for good. I will be 11 weeks post op this Monday and have only had 2 days of spotting really about a week ago.

Me too! I had my surgery 3 days after you. The last few days I've noticed a lot more hair coming out in the shower (we have one of those net things so it doesn't go down the drain) and then when I put my mousse in my hair and use my fingers to comb it through. I have a hair appt next Wednesday so I'll be interested in what my hairdresser has to say!

I'm 10 weeks out as of this past Monday. I am also training for a 5k and do intervals of 1 minute walking and 35 seconds jogging for about 3 miles, 3-4 times a week, outside. I've been walking over 3 miles since day 7 post-op. Need to start adding weights soon!

How is bariatric surgery cosmetic???? I get having a Tummy Tuck or something afterwards, but really?!
Good luck! It's right around the corner!

I really didn't have a pre-op diet. Went to the nutrition and behavioral medicine classes, nutrition weighed you every time you went, was never given a written diet to follow just that it is recommended that you try to lose 10% of your weight. Only thing I had to do was the liquid diet the day before surgery.
As far as approval went, yup, just the documentation from the nutritionist, behavioral medicine, and surgeon. Had to have a physical from one of the bariatric team doctors, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm 10 weeks post-op and I still have some white on the back of my tongue! I did go to my doctor about a week or so ago and the NP saw me. She said it wasn't thrush, but it doesn't make sense to me that I still have some white this long after surgery! I remember when I got my gallbladder out having some white on my tongue from being intubated, but it did not last this long.

First and foremost, you did nothing to deserve such treatment! Good for you for getting up and taking care of you today. Like the saying goes "fake it 'til you make it". Just keep doing what you are doing and tell yourself that you are beautiful and deserve better. Soon you will start to believe it!

I also moved back home when I decided to go back to school. I am 10 weeks out from my surgery. My family has not changed their eating habits or stopped bringing snack food in the house, and honestly, why should they? I am the one who wanted this surgery and to change my life, not them. I buy my own food, prepare it myself, and usually eat by myself. They are supportive in that they tell me I'm doing a good job and they can see the difference, but I don't expect them to change their eating habits. Hell, I went out with a close friend a couple of weeks ago to see a band and as I was sitting sipping on my ice tea, she ordered a chocolate Peanut Butter cup dessert thing!
We can't change those around us, we just need to do what we have to do take care of ourselves. You can do it!

Yup, they are gross. Turkey meatballs seem to trigger them for me.

Congratulations! You look great!

So glad someone else mentioned this! I notice the lovely wrinkly sag of skin on my neck. So attractive! I'm still early in the process, 10 weeks out tomorrow, so I am going to wait awhile before doing anything. Definitely on my "to do" list though!

Happens to a lot of people. I started developing a rash I think it was almost a week out. My surgeon said sometimes people get a reaction to the adhesives and stuff they put on your stomach (contact dermatitis). I was told to take some Benadyl, which did help.

Every program is different. I had to watch what I ate, but only had to do the clear liquid diet the day before surgery.

Congratulations! Your hard work paid off!
