I felt the 'lump' when I was lying on my tummy - in fact it made it very difficult to lie that way. I'd advise you go and get it looked at when you can.

How did you know you had a hernia?
I have this spot that really hurts if I strain to have a BM. It feels like my intestines are moving around . Sometimes, I can actually see them moving.

Yes, the hernia itself is resolved - I'm hoping too that it doesn't recur.

My surgery didn't go so great - the wound its left looks terrible as its just where I have some loose skin and I had an infection in the wound afterwards so left with a hard lump anyway.
Bright side is, I was told this last week that if I lose a bit more weight the surgeon is going to put me forward for skin surgery - which will improve the look of it.
The healing itself wasn't so bad but I had major trouble getting out of bed, and even out of the chair for a few weeks - needed my kids to help me with that. Good luck with yours - hope it goes better than mine did

I don't know if I now count as a vet (1yr. +) but in my 1yr. appointment the Dr. actually emphasized waist measurement instead of weight amount and BMI #. She said to watch and go for the <35" rule as a woman. Waist measurements smaller than this are a better indicator of health than the weight. Don't know how y'all feel about this, but just an FYI.

I think rather it's with WLS or old fashioned dieting, maintaining seems to be the hardest. I'm at my goal weight but I have to work to stay here. With my sleeve I have lost 125 pounds and I'm happy at my current weight;). I have found that if I don't stay focused I can gain. If I get lazy and don't keep up with my fitness or don't watch my food choices I see a gain. I know I will always have to be diligent if I want to keep my weight off. I have a set bounce range to keep myself in check.

It's really hard. It's so nice to be at our lowest weight, but maintaining that is not easy for most of us.
I really want to stay at this weight, but all I have to do is vary a tiny bit, and I am up 4 lbs. 4 will turn into 8 in no time at all if I don't watch everything I eat.

Ah, the unending struggle with food and weight.
All my friends are slim and healthy. And they also have an unending struggle with food and weight. The difference between them and me is that they struggled just a little bit harder than I did. I used to think they were nuts -- why worry about your Fitbit steps when you're 5'6" and weigh 125 pounds? Why write down all your food in My Fitness Pal when you're 5'5" and weigh 130?
I'm thinking a bit differently about all this now. And I am (finally?) appreciating that the Food Gods aren't mean only to me. They are tough on everyone.

I completely relate. When I felt so awful and a friend of mine told me that I looked great and I should try to maintain "right there". My reply was something along the lines of "thanks, but I feel like sh*t, so I don't really care how I look."
My situation is different in that according to very extensive labs, my health is outstanding. I didn't wind up getting scoped because in truth, I didn't have any clear symptoms pointing to a physical problem with my stomach and time has sort of proven that.
Now that I feel better and have a strong appetite, more energy etc. is when a person even has the ability to think about the kinds of questions i posted. I really don't understand your health struggles, but i do get that you are really trying to be healthy and not so worried about some of this other nonsense.
The old saying is that without your health you have nothing... has some merit. Feeling good is the key, after that, everything else is icing on top.

All I can say is I need help. On May 21st I will be 2 years post op. Since my husbands diagnosis of terminal cancer in January, I have been off track. He is getting worse by the day and watching the man I know and love so much slowly disappear in front of my eyes is heartbreaking. I cry every night after he goes to sleep. I know I have to travel this journey and I'm trying so hard to hold it together. I don't think he will be here two more months. When we got married 10 years ago, I knew I had finally found my soul mate. He is 48.
I guess the reason I'm writing this is to ask for encouragement or something.. I don't know really... to get back on track. I don't eat much all day until late. I drink caffeine and sugar most of the day. I start off with a Protein coffee I make myself and I use sugar free caramel Syrup but use regular french vanilla Creamer. I also use either 6 star protein ready made Protein shakes or advantage. I can drink three of those a day which is 600 to 800 calories! Then I eat one meal. Usually, it is a healthy meal. I don't crave bad food. Just sugar!!! I eat fudgesicles at night. Why am I so hooked on them?????!? They have 70 calories each but I can eat 5 or 6 of them and I know that is why I'm gaining weight. Seems I feel bad all day until I'm alone in the dark watching TV and eating them. It is comfort and I know it! Reverting back to an old very familiar habit of using food to help me feel better. My all time high weight was 300 and I reached 168. Now I'm back to 189 and I'm so scared. I don't see myself being strong enough to change now. I see 200 getting closer and closer and I know once I cross that line again... oh Lord... I don't want to think about it. I know that I am the ONLY one that can change and help myself. I really don't know what I want from you all. I guess maybe I just need to vent.
I'm still struggling with bile reflux, gastritis, and acid reflux. Also terrible esophageal spasms. I'm so stressed. I am my husbands caretaker. My Dr. did change me to Dexilant and it really is so much better than Prilosec. I can tell such a difference but it hasn't cured anything, but helps. My husband and I met with hospice yesterday and we decided not to go with them right now. He is moving around and still himself and able to do a few things on his own. So, I have to respect his wishes. I really don't want them here just yet either. Heck the Dr's said for me to call them back in January! No way.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I just needed to get things out. I appreciate you all. Here is a pic of before, then at 168 and now. I really want so bad to reach my goal of 155. SO BAD!!

I cannot speak from experience, but my friend did it to help get back on track...and it worked for her...she needed to "purge" her system again But I do not believe it takes your pouch back to "immediate post surgery status" ...but it helps you regain control again...
    Good luck!

I'm going in for a hernia repair, but they can't do keyhole because of the location of my hernia - under my ribs. Has anyone had an op like this - how was it painwise compared to the sleeve? How long to recover?
