  1. Hello everyone so glad to see all the positive feedback ! I have a question for those who are post op I finally get to start my purée stage tomorrow so happy but I have no clue as to what is considered a purée food I can only eat about 6-10 spoons food Protein Shakes have been going good and Water intake fine all Vitamins in but I'm finally able to eat and I have to admit I'm nervous I don't want to end up bringing it back up ! Any suggestions would be very very appreciated! Thanks you all for the support

The best for me has been cottage cheese-low far small curd, light and fit yogurt, no fat refried Beans, and cream Soups. I had split pea yesterday but had to put it through the blender first to make it real creamy.

  2. I have acid reflex when I do not take the Zantac my doctor sent me home with. I'm have a horrible time with any of the Protein drinks I drink. They all cause me horrible stomach aches and I feel like I could throw up. Has anyone else had this same problem? I have a week left of a liquid diet and then move on to purée foods. I should also mention I have tried about 6 or 7 different types of Protein drinks and they all have been doing it to me and they never bothered me before being sleeved. I can drink milk no problem. It does not matter if I mix the protein milk' date=' Water, juice, or food. Even the pre mixed ones in the bottles bother me.[/quote']

Do you a straw? If I use a straw nothing stays down.....and I get reflux. Dr. Told me not to use straws....and no problems since.

  3. We all have those moments . I was also sleeved on the 24 and I'm just starting to eat soft foods but idk what I should eat that wont bother my stomach! I'm getting in all things I should but I'm fearful as you are that I'm going to mess up its all a learning process for us one day at a time we can & will do this don't give up look how far we have come keep moving and going toward we got this!!!

I'm glad not just me. Next week I go in for another checkup....can't wait to see if I have lost more. I can't bring myself to weigh at home yet! I'm off work for another month. How long are you taking off?

I am on soft foods, but really have to measure! Cottage cheese yogurt and refried Beans have Ben the easiest. I had split pea Soup yesterday, but really had to put through the blender....still good though... Chunks of any size give me small issues, but I stop immediately when that happens!

  4. Tomorrow is my 2 week..surgery was June 24th. I feel like I'm getting everything in....but still worry about eating too much like before.....how is everyone else doing with the old vs new? I KNOW I am eating less than before...but then I still feel full. I lost 16 lbs in the first 10 days. But am waiting to weigh at my 3 week checkup...and don't feel like the he lost anything....argh! The fears are starting to show!

  5. I was sleeved June 24th in Denver at rose medicals by Dr. Mike Snyder. Went for my 1 week yesterday and am down 16 pounds. Do far no difficulties at all....so very grateful I did this! I hope everyone is enjoying their fourth of july! Burgers smell great but my cottage cheese is just fine....and dessert of hello....I'm as happy girl!

  6. I'd love to part of this. I just got laid off; so I'm taking the entire month of June "stress free". I was sleeved on the 24th.

  7. I have been having some itching around my incision sites' date=' probably from healing. I just have glue over my incisions. Has anyone else been having this problem? What have you been doing for it?[/quote']

I was told a bit of benydryl will do wonders while incisions healing.

  8. Hi June sleevers! I just thought I would post here because I was sleeved 1 year ago on June 18' date=' 2012, I just had my 1 yr checkup today and I thought you would like to see my Drs official photos, I still have 32 lbs to goal.

Sent from Gaye's iPad Mini using VST[/quote']

Wow! You look amazing. Thank you for being an inspiration as to what we can achieve!

  9. That ids true. My Dr says smaller than a straw...but do not drink through a straw for at least 6 weeks as it cash cause hiccups and excess gas. So anyone drinking through straws and have hiccups and or had....maybe stop using straws? See if that helps. I just had my 1 week post op ...down

Oops..stupid fingers on a tablet! Down 16 lbs! Healing nicely. No pain with coughing or sneezing....and no hiccups. So sad so smooth.....fingers crossed.

  10. Everybody's doctors are different. Mine allowed me full liquids day 3' date=' but I am on dull liquids for a month. After that is over, I can go I purée foods. It still has to fit through a straw though. Most people would be onto soft foods by then, but my doc is different. Just stick to what your doctor told you to do.[/quote']

  11. Curious' date=' do any of y'all have left side pain? My doctor told me right before he took me back that I would have left side pain for a while because its the biggest incision and it would be stitched down to a muscle. That incision is still sunk in and my side hurts. It's day 11 and I thought it would be over by now. Any one else??[/quote']

Yes. Pain in the left side....but more on and off....more on when I do too much. So I use that as a bit of a reminder that I need yo rest more. Dr. Told me vat my checkup that in about 6 to 8 weeks I shouldn't notice it any,more....the more I let it heal. The sooner the pain will stop. In the meantime heat packs and ice packs and Tylenol work wonders. Really not too bad when I play by the rules!

  12. Wow. I have had trouble getting in liquids today. Is everyone else still having trouble getting liquids in? The color of my pee still looks ok. Sorry if TMI. If that changes I'm going to call the on call Dr.

My dr gave me a schedule to follow and its been great so at least getting the minimums in! Yay!

  13. As of right now only my husband' date=' my mom and best friend know. I haven't decided how I'm going to handle questions from others nor decided how to handle my inlaws. I know they will be so against it. And the majority of my friends are health/fitness fanatics and personal trainers so I know they won't understand.[/quote']

Well I'm just explaining that I took care of medical issues and started Atkins, which if you bread up on you will see the bariatric diet is comparable.

  14. @ getlow' date=' I love tuna and chicken salads but love crackers with them, not sure yet if I want to chance that possible urge for crackers yet...lol...I'm thinking rotessarie chicken meat to start with since my manual highly recommend it, and I can get the best flavored and so tender one already done at the store close to me and the family can eat the rest...lol...[/quote']

Can you have a bit if cracker?

  15. I am sleeved!!! Got it done today' date=' as well as hernia removal/fix, and gallbladder removal! 5 holes...don't know size, still taped up, in bed in hospital until Friday probably....but doing very well[/quote']

Yeah congrats! I was sleeved on Monday. I just keep thinking another week and I won't be so darn tired!

  16. I put one teaspoon of the pudding/Jello in the shake mixed it up and put them in the fridge the night before. I put SF orange Jello in the orange cream shakes' date=' SF banana cream Jello pudding mix in the banana shakes (also put it in the chocolate and it was pretty good), and put 1 teaspoon SF chocolate pudding with the chocolate shakes. The orange tastes like an orange dreamsicile and the other like pudding. I won't do it later on when I have to be careful about calories but right now it helps getting through these 14 days of liquid on top of the 10 days before surgery. Those three Protein shakes are from my doctor's office and are Bariatric Advantage brand. I also like the chicken Soup flavor from unjury. I worried about the shakes pre-op more than anything else. Had a hard time figuring out what I could have because many of them did not agree with me. To bump up calories/protein I mixed it with the 60 calorie Silk milk. I also mixed it with Greek yogurt. I will have to be careful later on but right now my calorie count is still really low since that is almost all I am having but will have to watch it later on. Hope this helps![/quote']

That's a great idea! I'm having issues getting liquids and Protein down...maybe this will help! I understand about wanting to see the weight fall off...but I have to admit with how I feel right now...will I? I'm just plain tired.

  17. Surgery day was my worst day. Once the anesthesia started wearing off I started feeling great. Glad to know the hiccough thing is normal. I think it is everything moving around. Sneezed night before last and that was a treat! Will do my best to make sure that doesn't happen again for a while. Did anyone else come home with the jb drain? I get it taken out Friday and can't wait! I started to say it was a pain but thought that could be taken wrong so I will be more specific and say it is aggravating. Glad that is all I have to complain about!

Yes I have a drain and a pain pack. They are aggravating join that I keep catching them on things around the house can't wait until next wed when I get them out

  18. Bit sleeved on Monday. That was a rough night. Had dry heaves all night....kept going to the bathroom to pee but couldn't-----beers time I heaved----peed my pants! That was unexpected. Argh. Home now. Set my phone alarm for every two hours to make me get and walk. I feel better laying down than sitting up, but really not too bad! Trying to get liquids down but its hard.
