    Gotta bill for my surgery...

Now that's just rubbing it in!! Lol
  6. In honor of Mother's Day, I thought it would be fun to share some stories about how your surgery has improved your relationship and time with your kiddos. What are some things you were unable to do before surgery which you (and your kiddos) enjoy doing now? I have no children myself and I'm in early stages of surgery approval, but I love reading non-scale victories and MOMMY VICTORIES are my favorite! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

    Kinda Scared

I am exactly where you are. Thinking about the approval process, surgery and life after consumes almost all my thoughts. I have been on and off researching WLS for over two years and it wasn't until a month ago that I decided to take the leap. After only short term success Weight Watchers, Atkins, clean eating and many MANY others I am certain I need this tool to help me stay motivated and on track. But on the flip side, I'm FREAKING OUT! Am I making the right decision? Do I really need to cut my stomach out to lose weight? If I can do it afterward, why can't I do it now? Why I am I committing to a procedure with no real long term studies? Am I doomed die early from having this procedure? Occasionally I snap out of it because I know in my head and my heart that I will die early for certain if I don't make this happen. But the unknown is scary and I still have moments every day where I'm unsure if I've started down the wrong path. Sarah

    Gotta bill for my surgery...

I'm not sure we have one. On most procedures and visits we have a deductible max, but there is a 80/20 stipulation to everything I've looked up. Sarah

    Gotta bill for my surgery...

Just spoke with insurance today and I have to pay $5000 bariatric co-pay in addition to annual deductible. Plus $150/day hospital stay and 20% of procedure cost, if any, after that. Also, $50 per doctor visit and $150/procedure for outpatient services (endoscopy, etc). "But don't worry, there are rarely any additional fees!" Totally crazy! Sarah
  14. I have my inital consult Friday, June 7th. I finally decided to take that step because I have tried and failed every other option. I am tired of passing on things I'd love to do! I want to be able to go to a movie or see a play or symphony without having to first check around for a seat width. I want to run. I want to be able to keep up with my nieces and nephews. I want to have a life on the weekends that doesn't involve my husband and I in our matching recliners. I want to THROW AWAY OUR RECLINERS! I want to see places. I want to be of normal size to do all of these things. I want too much and all this fat is keeping me from it. And I am finally ready to make the change I have been putting off for way too long!

    Who Are You?

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I am 31. I live in Pasadena, TX (a suburb of Housto) and manage a baby furniture store in The Woodlands (north of Hosuton) where I have worked for almost 8 years. My husband and I have been married for a year, though we dated 8 years prior to getting married. He is also going for a consult with me. We hope to start this journet together. I am new to this site and new to weight loss surgery in general. I have been researching WLS on and off for over 3 years, but have finally decided that I would take the leap and have a consult with a surgeon. Our initial consult is June 7th. I know we have insurance coverage (though it will be well over $10K out of pocket for both of us) so we are going to meet the surgeon and make a final decision if this is something in which we are interested. In my free time I love to travel. I want to see the world, but my size prevents me from being comfortable with taking the trips I really want to take. Instead we cruise. We like to go a couple times a year if possible. We save all of our extra money for vacations and since my husband is a teacher we have quite a few opportunities to do so each year. We also love to go camping and hiking, though with our sizes we have a hard time doing those things. A hike for us now is one mile in and then heading back. Through WLS I hope to gain the health and confidence I need to be able to do the things I love. I am nervous and scared about the whole thing, but I am hoping that our consult will help ease my worries. I look forward to making new friends in this community with whom I can share experiences, trials and tribulations. Have a great day everyone!
