    Regrets that got better

I don't have any regrets. Getting sleeved was the best thing I've ever done for myself.
  3. Hoot temple - I hope your surgery went well yesterday. My mom is doing great, had a very large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as her sleeve surgery. She texted me at 5 AM this morning that she is ready to come home! Hopefully she can come home tonight.

    Those LAST FEW POUNDS!

Lexuskela - I'm not at goal, but I am finding this last bit of weight to be a real stickler.....much harder to lose. For about 6-8 weeks I've bounced between 198 and 196. I think the scale is finally moving again and I'm down to 194. It's moving, but very slowly. I'm very happy with the weight I've lost so far, but I would like to get to my goal. I'm also reviewing my goal. I'm not convinced 165 is the right weight for me. At this point I would be thrilled to get to 175. We shall see what my body says! Good luck.

Starting my journey - Boston Ma

Thanks jlw18 . The doctor just came out and said she did great! They also fixed a very large hiatal hernia she had...so I'm hoping no more GERD! Shortstuff4ever I think your husband is in the waiting room with me because dr. Kim was talking to him. I don't want to freak him out so I won't say hi.... But best of luck with your recovery
  8. Hi. I had my gallbladder out about 12 years ago. My surgeon said the sleeve was a better choice for me as there might be scar tissue if I wanted the bypass. I wanted the sleeve anyway so I was good to go. I have had no complications from it and was sleeved last August. Good luck!

Would you move where has someone died?

Natural causes wouldn't bother me........suicide and/or murder would. When I was looking at houses I looked at one where the owner had committed suicide (I didn't know or I wouldn't have even looked). It was a creepy house with a dirt basement and the realtor didn't disclose it but I wasn't interested! I found out later and I hope he disclosed it to whomever bought it.
  10. Hoot temple good luck! My mom is 66 and she is in the operating room as I type this. I had it done last August and it was the best thing I've done for myself! I'm down 100lbs and couldn't be happier.

Shortstuff4ever78 I'm guessing your surgery was smooth sailing because dr. Kim is taking my mom to surgery early [emoji4]

    Easter Weight Loss Challenge

    194.2 today.....sorry I've missed some posts!
  16. I hated it too until I found Zumba. I'm only doing it twice a week but it is helping and it's fun. Next time the class starts I'm going for three days. I have a treadmill but it's boring... I will be using it more but it feels like a chore.

    Pre-Op Weight Loss

I lost 39lbs pre-op from 4/1 to 8/17/2015. I did it by eliminating most carbs. I had previously given up all soda. I then gave up drinking 1/2 hour before and after meals. I ate like a bariatric patient - Protein first, then veg, and CHEW CHEW CHEW. I started having Protein shakes for Breakfast - in reality this was just easy for me to do...made breakfast less of a challenge. I also brought my lunch to work every day and still do. I drank a minimum of 64 oz of Water every day. I started exercising and used a Fitbit. Doing this helped me immensely after surgery because I had started the foundations for eating like a "sleever". I highly recommend making any positive changes you can before surgery. Oh - I was given a prerequisite of losing 15lbs prior to surgery by my bariatric group. I clearly hit that goal.

    Medicare coverage question

Glitter Eyes - Medicare does not cover the same things in certain states. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I think it's covered in some states and in some states it isn't. If you called the bariatric center where she was thinking of going they would probably know as they submit to insurance all the time.
  19. Welcome! I was nervous too but a nervous excited. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow.

    Me before weight loss surgery

If you are having surgery today good luck!
  21. I would think you could still lose weight no matter how far out you are. It might be harder, but it's still doable. I'm guessing your doctor meant it will get harder after this time...not stop altogether completely.
  22. I get my Vitamins etc. online through Celebrate directly at their website. They are a little more expensive than buying vitamins at the drug store, but they include the Iron and I need a chewable because I can't tolerate the Vitamin pills right now for some reason. I buy my Protein shakes from Rite Aid (they are the GNC Lean 25) and I get my Protein Bars (Power Crunch) at Walmart. I am a Gold Member at Rite Aid and get 20% off all my purchases. Walmart so far has the best price on the Power Crunch.
  23. www.swimsuitsforall.com has a great selection and really good prices. It's been recommended by a few people on this thread. I had fantastic luck with them when I was a size 22W and I am going to go to them for my suits this summer. My friend, who is not plus sized but petite also has good luck with them.

    Easter Weight Loss Challenge

SW 196 GW 186 Blah up today! I know why....it's just water etc. but it's annoying. I know I did not gain 3lbs of fat in 2 days! Feeling good about this challenge. Thanks again for doing it.
  25. I had my 6 month post-op visit yesterday with the surgeon’s assistant and my NUT. It went very well. They are both very happy with the progress that I’ve made and they both feel I will make it to my goal. I discussed “goal” weight with them both. I am 5’10” - My PCP said 175, the surgeon’s assistant said 160, my NUT said 170 and I was thinking 165! 15lbs is a big range. I want the goal to be reachable and sustainable. For now I’m sticking with 165. We will see as I get closer what is doable. I’m down over 100lbs since starting this journey last April and down 63 since my surgery on 8/17/2015. Since that time I am able to do so much more. I can cross my legs without any issues. I can walk longer distances, do workout classes and not be the big sweaty hot mess in the back, climb stairs without pain, fit into any seat/booth, and in general I just feel so much better. I remember being 295lbs and hating the feeling of my own skin. I am down from a tight size 22W to a 14 and I even got a pair of size 12 dress pants on yesterday. I no longer have to shop in plus size stores. I am so thankful for this tool that I have. My sleeve has enabled me to do so much more than I ever thought I could. In the beginning I had doubts. I am so glad for this forum where I was able to get so much valuable information pre-surgery to prepare me for my journey. It is still a wealth of information now and I come here almost every day to read other people’s inspirational stories, rants, issues, etc. I hope I never stop learning. I still have a lot of hard work ahead to reach my goal but it’s worth it. I need to do better with tracking and I need to up my exercise. Those two things are my main goals for the next few months. I see my surgeon and my NUT for my 1 year post-op on 8/23 and I hope to be posting in here at that time that I’ve met my goal. For now I am going to continue to get inspiration here and go to my monthly support group meetings at the hospital run by my NUT who is awesome. I hope everyone out in the BP community has continued success and a fabulous day!
