    G.e.r.d &'d heartburn

My mom had severe GERD pre-sleeve. She had an endoscopy and it didn't show any other issues. When she had her surgery on 3/21 the surgeon discovered a large hiatal hernia and repaired it. I'm sure the hernia was causing most if not all of her symptoms. Time will tell, but I'm thinking this will cure her GERD. I'm not a doctor, but if you are eating smaller amounts, more frequently, and taking your acid reducer after surgery it should get better. I can't say for certain because for some people it gets worse. I would ask your surgeon.
  2. Good idea to rest. If you still feel that crappy this weekend I would suggest seeing your PCP on Monday. You can never be too careful. Obviously if you feel worse go to the ER! Glad you are still losing the Water weight.
  3. Heidikat72 - seriously STOP comparing yourself to others. See how much progress you can make in 12 weeks and then keep it up You'll drive yourself nuts if you keep comparing yourself to everyone else. Prior to 4/1/2015 I couldn't run, walk, go upstairs, etc. without being red in the face, flush and sweaty. Now I'm walking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day and I feel great!
  4. So glad the diuretic is working! They still need to figure out WHY this was happening though. Make sure they figure it out.

    Updated Photo

    You look fabulous!
  6. The surgeons office did call back and made some medication recommendations that have helped. I also got her a heating pad. The pain seems to be better controlled. They are going to check in on her again tomorrow and she sees them Friday. Thanks for your input.
  7. Sorry you aren't getting the answers you need. Your bariatric surgeon should squeeze you in. If he/she doesn't have the answers you might need the ER. That much swelling is ridiculous!
  8. Kelliedn and Deanna2178 - congrats on your upcoming surgery dates!

    Anyone tried Quark?

I had them send me the voucher to try one free.....cheese? Whodathunkit but I do love Desserts made with ricotta and mascarpone....I'll let you know how it tastes.
  11. Fatty McFatster - good luck at your appointment. Gaining that much weight in such a short period, the ankle swelling and the pain are a sign of SOMETHING. If the cardiologist doesn't find it...then keep on plugging away and make an appt with your PCP. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

    What’s Your Spring Goal?

Sleevy Wonder - we had surgery around the same time! I also had a stall that lasted about 6-8 weeks with losing/gaining the same pound over and over....the scale FINALLY moved down this week and I dropped 4lbs. Stick with it my friend!

    What’s Your Spring Goal?

My Spring goals are to walk a 5K, to continue using my Fitbit to track my steps (goal is 10,000 a day), and to lose another 10lbs by Memorial Day. I just realized I am no longer considered OBESE by the BMI charts! I'm just OVERWEIGHT! OH JOY OF JOYS I'M OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Can we eat crepes?

Crepes are basically just scrambled eggs.....It's the FILLINGS you have to be wary of If you think you can handle it....go ahead and enjoy a crepe. Ok ... so they are more of an eggy pancake...but still, it's the toppings/fillings to be wary of. I had a piece of french toast on Sunday and IT DID NOT KILL ME!

    Going back to school

Thanks guys. I have my Associates in Criminal Justice and that's what I'm going to get the Bachelor's in. They will call me back a week from Friday to go over some things. Right now I just need to get my transcripts mailed to them so I can see what they will accept for credits. They will take up to 90 credits. I am going to give my manager a heads up too, to ensure that there won't be any issues with reimbursement for the courses.

    40 lbs!

    Congratulations! Keep it up.

    Just Wondering....

I weigh myself pretty much daily. I had a spell where I bounced around the same 1-2 lbs, up/down, up/down, up/down and I wasn't too freaked out by it. I'm now back on a downward trend, which is great! I'm going to try to go weekly, but I doubt I'll be able to make it. I bet I breakdown and peak at the scale by the weekend. Once I get to goal I can see myself weighing daily for accountability.
