    Elusive Onederland

Jane13 - I'm near Boston and we are having record temps...will be 68 on Christmas Eve so I might be grilling outside in shorts and a t-shirt. According to the weather guys/gals up here it's NOT Global Warming (so I don't have to feel guilty for loving the warm weather) it's el nino. Salt - I love it and I do need to watch it, so thanks for the reminder! Onederland here I come!

Tell me about odd weight loss patterns

    After my surgery, on 8/17, I purposely did not weight myself until my first post-op appt. I knew I would be swollen, etc. and I had read about the 3 week stall. I thought I would give you my weekly weights and show you how I've lost. It certainly hasn't been consistent, but overall I am very pleased. 9/7/2015 234.4 -3 9/14/2015 230.2 -4.2 9/21/2015 228 -2.2 9/28/2015 224 -4 10/5/2015 223 -1 10/12/2015 217 -6 10/19/2015 215.2 -1.8 10/26/2015 214.6 -0.6 11/2/2015 213.6 -1 11/9/2015 214.2 0.6 gain 11/16/2015 210.4 -3.8 11/23/2015 208.4 -2 11/30/2015 203.4 -5 12/7/2015 206.8 3.4 gain 12/14/2015 204.6 -2.2 12/21/2015 200.2 -4.4
  3. I don't know, but you might want to try the "Main" gastric sleeve forum under hospitals and surgeon's. There may also be forum for foreign doctors/places etc. You might get more of a response.
  4. I'm drinking the neocell collagen with Water for the first time. It's pretty much tasteless, but the smell is a little weird. It took a while for it to dissolve, but the water I had was VERY cold. If the water is room temp, does it dissolve quicker? Also wondering how long before I might see (or not see hair in my drain) results?

    A year ago, I couldn't have...

A year ago I couldn't..... Look in a mirror and be confident Cross my legs comfortably Feel good about wearing a dress for the first time in 15 years Walk more than a couple of blocks without sweating profusely
  7. Mom26 I am so sorry that your son got that news. It's absolutely awful and I am praying for your son, you and your family.
  8. Have the surgery. I lost 39lbs before surgery and I had the "if you lost weight without it why do you need it" comments too. I think my family was just scared of me having surgery. It's not something to take lightly. I told them I had lost weight before but always gained it back plus some. Don't lie to your doctor. Try to get some sort of activity in every day. As you lose weight it gets soooooo much easier to do! You will be able to do so much more with your kids. And when your husband says you have commitment issues tell him you committed to him and your kids and you want to be around for a long time to be with them! ???? Best of luck. You got this.

    GOOOAAAALLLLLLL!

    Congratulations!
  10. I just bought some and I am PRAYING it works. The front of my hair (bangs) and hair around it is really falling out and if I stand under a light or the bright sun you can totally see my scalp. It's a small price to pay for the weight loss, but if I could NOT lose hair that would be awesome too! I used the link someone posted and got the 14oz Neocell jar.

FEMALES - DECREASED URINE FLOW - ANYONE?

OMG - I thought I was alone. I am drinking A TON but when I have to go, it does not come with the same speed...I really thought I was bonkers. I also do not have the same "urgency". On the plus side, I also do not have any issues with leaking like I did pre-surgery. I'm guessing all the fat squeezing my bladder is gone!
  12. Hi, I am getting my body fat tested this Saturday in a "BOD POD". Has anyone else had this done? I wanted to get a DEXA scan, but the only facility I can find near me charges $500 a scan. I can get a Bod Pod scan done for $45 for one or two for $60. I've read both good and bad reviews about it....but mostly good....so I'm doing it. I've lost 90lbs....I'm not sure if my goal weight of 165 is realistic or not and I am going to use the info from the scan to help me get a realistic goal weight.

Body Fat Testing - Bod Pod

I found the site near me on this website. http://www.bodpod.com/en/products/body-composition/adult-children-bod-pod-gs/bod-pod I'm not sure if I can get the metabolic test done there but I will ask my PCP about it.

    New Hampshire

Hi, I didn't go through Dartmouth Hitchcock but I'm sure they have a good program. Are they a center of excellence? Do they offer support groups in their after-care? You might want to reach out to the support group section in NH to see if anyone else has gone through DH.
  15. Margie122

    Relieved

I'm glad you may have found a clinic to do aftercare where you live. I would try to set that up before I had the surgery. Do you have a primary care physician who will help you? Have you notified your primary care physician you are having the surgery? You didn't say if you have any other co-morbidities like diabetes, sleep apnea, etc.

    Pre-surgery Jitters

Karen, It's ok to be nervous but don't let it get to you! I would go through and make sure you are prepared for the surgery, etc. and then try to keep busy. Drink loads of Water. You CAN do this. Starting a liquid diet on 12/23 is going to be hard, but it's not impossible. Don't think of it as NEVER having anything you love ever again - you can have some next year. If you do slip, get right back on track. I'm sure you have worked very hard this surgery and you should be proud of your accomplishments so far. YOU GOT THIS!
  17. I couldn't help myself.....I like to change the words to songs when I'm bored. You better watch out You better not cry You better not pout I’m telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town He’s making a grocery list And checking it twice He’s going to find out whose sneaking carbs like rice Santa Claus is coming to town He sees you when you’re snacking, He knows when you’re eating cake He knows if you’ve taken your supplements So eat healthy for goodness sake!

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

204.6 this morning....scale is moving in the right direction - YAY!
  19. I've lost almost 50lbs since my surgery on 8/17. I don't think I would've been able to do it without this sleeve...it's awesome. I wouldn't say the weight fell off, but it's been steady....with the 39 I lost prior to surgery I am so very happy to have done this. Slow and steady wins the race

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

Hello tall sleevers I have been up and down with my weight the last two weeks since Thanksgiving. Went up after the holiday, then had a big loss because I got the stomach flu. Then my birthday hit and I rebounded back up. Realistically, I know I didn't "gain" that much weight in a week - it's Water, etc. and my body getting back to normal, but it was a blow to the ego. I was SOOOO CLOSE to being under 200lbs....and then I wasn't. I'm back to "normal" eating, Protein first, veggies second...and getting in my water. I WILL GET UNDER 200lbs soon! My goal is by 12/31. I've got 3 weeks...I am going to do it.. The sleeve is a wonderful tool and I need to use it. I still have the same goal of 165lbs...which is about 41lbs to go. I may not get to 165, but if I got under 180 I think I would be happy with that. We will see how my body feels at that weight. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season. Whatever you Celebrate - hope it's filled with health & joy.

    Upset!

YLLUZ it's happening to me too....I was sleeved the same day as you and it started coming out in October. It's totally thinned in the front...I'm trying to get all my Protein in and ride it out! Hopefully it stops soon. I feel your pain!
  22. This last week was not good.....actually it hasn't been good since Thanksgiving. I've been talking myself into a bite here... a bite there of tasty stuff and I really don't need it. I got the stomach flu the Saturday after Thanksgiving and that caused a big loss last week.... Well my birthday was last week and I celebrated all week.....with a big gain this Monday on the scale. I know it's not all "fat" and is probably some Water weight...but still. I'm in the losing phase now...I don't need this. I'm going back to Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch and going to back to basics for dinner = protein & veggies. No Cookies, no cake, no rice, no potato, no CARBS! Ugh. I was SOOOOOOOO close to being under 200lbs for the first time in my adult life...I can't blow it now. I WILL BE UNDER 200lbs by 12/31 !!!! I WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yogurt? Greek vs. all others.

If you can find it....try SIGGI'S - it's an Icelandic yogurt and has the lowest sugar count I can find, it has a lot of protein, and it's delicious.
  24. Thanks for the input guys....yes I need to get back to basics...and plan better and log my food. I also slipped on the Water intake. I'm back on track today. I've had my shake at breakfast and lunch and have already gotten in over 48 oz of liquids today...I'll get at least another 24 before the end of the day. I'm so close to getting under 200....I know I will do it. I'm not going to let a cookie or a potato get the best of me!
  25. I have pretty much eaten one of those large Hershey chocolate bars in the past week dipped in natural peanut butter....AND I ate a couple of handfuls of popcorn yesterday....and I had a half of potato this weekend.... Trying to remember if there is anything else.....nope that should do it! SOOOOO NOT HAPPY about this!
