Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

I am 45, never smoked....I have some loose skin on my arms, stomach, and thighs. It's the stomach that is the worst. I have about 30lbs left to go. I'll see how it feels once I'm at goal but it doesn't bother me too much. I would rather have the skin than be that heavy again....I can do so much more!
  2. It's hard. I've been stalled but it's my own fault because those slider foods have creeped back in. Are you talking to anyone? A therapist? I have to go back to basics. I didn't come this Fargo blow it. Purge your house of the junk, get active and Protein first.....I am also going back to tracking to be accountable. Best of luck...you can do it.
  3. I am going to give up chocolate for Lent. I know I shouldn't be eating it, but some days when I REALLY REALLY REALLY just want something I give in and have a KISS or two or three. It's not good. So chocolate is it. I also love natural Peanut Butter with apple slices, but I think it can be a trigger food for me so that's going to be given up for Lent too. I haven't had ANY alcohol since 4/1/2015 so I can't give that up I also do not drink any kind of soda. I could try to limit my coffee intake to 2 cups or less a day. When it's cold out I do love my decaf hazelnut. Chocolate and peanut butter - totally abstain and coffee - 2 cups or less.....BAZINGA. That's going to do it for this buffet Catholic!
  4. You guys are awesome....and inspiring....I know you will get to your goals one day and one pound at a time!
  5. Hi, I've posted in the age specific discussion but it doesn't seem to get as many looks as this one. My mom is going to have the sleeve in March and I was wondering if there are any over 60 sleevers out there who could give me some tips? She is 66. She's retired, has had one knee replaced and will probably have the other one done in a couple of years. Her goals are to be more active, not get as winded, and be able to keep up with her grandkids who range in age from 8 to 13. Any info/tips would be helpful. Thanks!

    Family Hurts

I agree with Loopylulu...it sounds to me like you should be prepared for your mutual friends to know. I would bet from the conversations that you have already had with your sister that she's told people. Here is my story - Like you I wanted to keep my surgery a secret. At first, I only told a few VERY close friends and my immediate family. One of those friends told a lot of other people about my surgery. At first, I was hurt. But then I realized the reason she told other people was because she was so happy for me and genuinely excited about my weight loss journey. Was what she did right? No. She should not have told them. I do have to say though that once I realized so many people knew, that it was a relief for me. Now when people ask me about my weight loss (I've lost almost 100 lbs so people notice) I find myself surprised at how open I am with them about it. I have nothing to be ashamed of. Now I don't think your sister is coming from the same place as my friend. To me it sounds like she is jealous of you, which is not a good thing for either of you. If you continue to have those conversations with your sister you run the risk of more heartache for yourself and more arguments. I would accept the fact that she is going to blab and deal with it now.

    I said "No Way"!

    Congratulations on an awesome accomplishment!
  8. Your husband isn't doing you any favors by bringing that kind of food into the house and preparing stuff for you that you don't want. I would get food delivered. Tell him if you gain weight your hip is going to be even worse!!! I don't think you stretched your stomach, but you might want to do the "BACK ON TRACK" program. You can search for how to start it here on the boards. I don't suggest going back on the liquids full-time....especially if it will feel like punishment. Go back to basics....and tell your husband to GET ON BOARD!
  9. My mom has GERD, and at times it was really bad. She has been watching her diet and making sure she doesn't go LONG times in between eating and it's gotten better. She's scheduled to have the sleeve next month. * She also had an endoscopy and esophagram and it looked normal, BUT her surgeon told her that she could still have a hernia even though these were normal and she is going to look for it when she does my mom's surgery next month. My mom's surgeon is still recommending the sleeve even though she has GERD.
  10. Same as last week....196.2 !

    Friday NSV roll call!

My NSV for this week continues to be that I can do SO MUCH MORE than I could at my highest weight. I'm down several sizes, I can shop in "regular" stores, and I cross my legs every day!

    I'm not a garbage pail

I understand food calling to you and mindless eating because it's there. Good for you for tossing it out.
  13. Glad you caught your slip now before it became a bigger problem later with a gain! Good for you.

sugar scrubs..or whatever you call em

About once every other month I boil a full kettle and pour the boiling Water down my tub drain. If I'm really feeling adventurous I will put some baking soda down the drain first, followed by a little cheap white vinegar. It's cool to watch it foam. Then do the boiling water. I asked a plumber who said it was safe for the pipes and it keeps them flowing well. The conditioner gets gunked up as well as all the other soapy residue. Instead of the Coconut oil you could try olive oil but I'm betting the coconut oil is probably cheaper.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

proudgrammy - i didn't mean ANY disrespect the over 60 crowd...none at all! I'm just trying to make my mom's surgery as painless as possible I'm sure you are right.....her journey will probably be much like mine. She's been reading the books, but she really doesn't like using the computer for anything other than playing games. She's not that into technology.

    Any sleevers over 60?

@VSGAnne2014 - it was definitely her idea! No one can tell my mom to do something she doesn't want to do. I think she's seen me be successful and would like that for herself 2Goldengirl & MissMac - thank you for your comments. I know that losing weight will make her feel so much better and also better about herself. I know she's going to do well. She has really put a lot of effort into this and is one of the first one's in her "class" from orientation to have a surgery date. Thanks for the responses!
  17. 99# in total Hoping for the 100# mark by next weigh in on Monday!

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Hello to all the 60+ sleevers. My mom is having her surgery on 3/6 - and she is 66. Can any of the over 60 crowd give me any tips on how to help her with the surgery? Anything that she might need that I didn't having the surgery at 45? Any info would be helpful...THANKS!

    Amazing news...

I am so happy for you. I distinctly remember the day I opened the letter from my health plan and it was the approval for the surgery. I really thought it was an EOB or something silly...imagine my shock! I felt glorious that day! Still do actually............it's lovely to be 99lbs down!

    Lets talk Tea....

I love tea too but I must admit at this time I am drinking boring old Lipton Decaf! Does it count as real tea?
  22. I've lost 99 and I plan on getting to 130 lost! Ok - oops really only 98.8 but I rounded up. It's pretty close to 100!
  23. Today I tried on a ring that I was given when I was about 12. I have no idea what size it is, I just know that once I was in high school it no longer fit. It's a gold claddagh and I have always loved it. IT FIT! On both hands I can get it on my ring finger and it's not even tight. I never in a million years thought I could wear it again. This is amazing. I'm so glad I had my sleeve!!!! ????
