My wife told my in-laws. I heard a lot of "isn't that the easy way out?" To that I responded "no, continuing on my path and dying before my 40th birthday would be a lot easier."
I've tried and I've tried and I've failed and I've failed.
Its time for help. Surgical style.

This is going to be one of the hardest parts for me. I take a Vivarin every morning at work (200 mg) and I hate the thought of working without it.
Starting next week, I am going to ween myself off of it.

Pretty much every store in the country has them. Just go to the chocolate/hard candy section. You will find some really great flavors. Try to have one and savor it. They have a lot of sugar alcohol in them.
I am starting my 2 week liquid fast on 6/5 and I'm planning on making Atkins Mocha smoothies (Atkins shake and ice).

If it was me:
- Stop calling it a 'sweet tooth'. It makes it sound cute and makes it sound ok. Example: my wife keeps her car messy and she says "Oh, I live out of my car!" No she doesn't. She commutes 15 minutes a day. As for the sweets, what's worked for me when I was on Atkins was sugar free hard candies (chocolate, butterscotch, etc). Do NOT go for the straight-up Sugar Free Chocolate. It's fatty and high in calories.
- Only talk to positive people about your journey.
- Relax. You shouldn't be hard on yourself. You can do this.

I'm not sleeved (scheduled 6/19), but it seems like it still very early in the process. Your stomach is stil very small and you need to have only quality foods go into it.
Of course, if you continue on this path, yes - the sleeve was a waste of time. You don't want to look back 2 years from now and be the same weight - you want to look back in 2 years and be like "yeah, it was tough. But I made it and I'm healthy now".
Good luck. I know you can do it!

I am on vacation soon too, luckily my 2 week liquid diet starts when I return. I also have to kick my caffeine habit!

Starting on June 5th, my Dr. is putting me on a 800 calorie/day liquid diet. Basically, 5 Atkins shakes/day.

Hello, I'm Joshua.
I too am tired of being tired. Everyday I feel miserable. I feel like I'm being pulled down constantly by my own body.
Right now I am about 350 (I'm 6'4") and I am hoping to get down to a healthy weight (200-225).
I am scheduled for June 19th.
I am hoping that by this time next year I will be living life instead of just simply existing.

"waiting for my real life to begin" by Colin Hayes. But that's more of a preop song. Afterward? Every song by P!NK

I work for a hospital, so nobody SHOULD ask questions - but people in my office are very nosey. A coworker had surgery to remove a benign cyst. He only told my boss, and that made everybody gossip about why he was out. My boss ended up blabbing anyway.
I am scheduled for 5/19 and I'm not looking forward to the questions. I'm not embarrassed, I just don't like answering personal qustions.

Had surgery June 19...my experience

I had my surgery on June 19th too! I too was tired of constantly worried about food. My Dr. said my stomach was really huge - which makes sense. I could eat a crazy amount and I was always hungry.
The downsides: I get really bad Migraines and the only thing that works for me (Excedrin) was the one thing I couldn't take (b/c of the aspirin).
I wanted to change my relationship with food - not just prevent myself from overeating.
