  1. I made it through the day! Whew! Good luck to you tomorrow with starting your Pre-op. I leave for Mexico at 6am on Thursday morning. Once I get there they will take me to the hospital for my labs and then I get to spend the night at the hospital because I am first on the surgery schedule Friday morning. "Very early" they said. (I wonder what time "very early" means in Mexico?) :-) Two more days at home then off I go to start my journey! *Linda*
  2. Day 10 of my Pre-op. Really hard day. Stuck to my plan so far but it was SO hard! Went to the Royals/Cardinals game. So much food, food smells, etc. I'm not hungry at all, but I just wanted to EAT!!
  3. I think it happens to a lot of us.
  4. Yes I think he is afraid. That was my response to him "come with me" but he can't because of his job and wife and two children. It's ok. I'll come back just fine. I love him for his concern :-)
  5. Mizzougirl, I bought protein shots on Groupon.
  6. ksredhead, where do you live in KC? KS or MO? I live in Wichita, but all my children live in Overland Park and I visit them a lot!! (May move there soon). I am excited to have someone close by in KS and MO (Mizzougirl) to share the journey with!
  7. I am preop. I have told a few people. When I told my (grown) children, my daughter said good for you, my son said you don't need it, my other son said you're going to wake up in a tub of ice with organs missing (I'm going to Mexico). He is the only one trying to talk me out of it. Everyone else I've told is happy for me. Some of my friends wish they could do it and they're going to see how it works for me.
  8. I took acetaminophen for the the first 3-4 days. No NSAIDS cuz they are hard on your stomach. By day 7 I had lost 10 pounds - less abdominal fat and a lighter liver to make the surgery go smoother. So keep it up its worth it.
  9. Kailisa, glad you're joining us! One more week and we are all going to have our stories to tell. That's great that you are teaching yourself to sip. I think that's a little hard to do, but post surgery we will all be doing that for sure! I love your positive attitude! I've been on my liquid diet for one week ( I have a 2 week total preop) and it gets easier after the first few days. I took a lot of acetaminophen those first three days to help with the headaches :-)
  10. Hi AngRN, can u share your story and any advice for us "soon to be" sleevers?
  11. Thank you!! That did it!
  12. 24 pounds gone is awesome!!!!! Gone and never to come back!!!! Keep us posted! I think we are all ready and feel that we are going to breeze through surgery :-)
  13. Lost 10 pounds so far on my Pre-op diet. Woo-hoo. Can't wait for surgery day in 6 days!!
  14. How do I update my ticker? I've lost 10 pounds on my pre-op diet and I'd like to post that. The "Ticker Tutorial" link in the "FAQ" section of this forum is not working for me. Thank you in advance for your help
  15. Haha! Set myself up for that one!! Good to know that throat pain is not common. Thanks everyone!!!
  16. Has anyone who has been sleeved used a throat numbing spray or lozenge after surgery for the pain. I bet after they put the bougie in and move it around a lot that the throat hurts quit a bit!
  17. Keep busy! Such a great idea for all of us who are WAITING!
  18. She really is wonderful! Haha! My skinny jeans moved to another closet for a few years, then they moved to the home of my skinny friend :-). Hangover 3 - here I come! My husband will be happy if I suggest that (my turn to pick the movie). :-)
  19. Great news! How exciting for you! Woohoo!
  20. I feel (and over think) the same way you do. I just want it to be done, so I can move on to the next phase of my life. My surgery coordinator from Cancun, Sheri Burke, told me this: "please do enjoy your weekend and get very happy about the big event that you are about to have. Your life is about to get very exciting. You need to move all of your "skinny jeans" to the front of your closet - you'll be wearing them very soon !" That made me feel so happy! I'm on my Pre-op diet already (day 6) and I miss food a little bit, but I'm past the first couple days so I'm not feeling hungry. Just have a headache a lot. No big deal. I went to see Ironman last weekend and didn't think about the surgery the whole time! Woohoo! Going to the KC Royals game on Monday and I get to spend the day there with my (grown) children before I head to Cancun on Thursday :-) Trying to keep the days filled and fun :-)
  21. Me too! And it is sooo beautiful! I am on my two week Pre-op liver shrink diet right now. Only nine more days to surgery!!! I will definitely keep you posted :-)
  22. I am going to Dr. Verboonen in Cancun on May 31st. I have heard great things about him! 5500 for everything. I can let you know after the 31st about my experience.
