  1. I am still pre op, so I can't say re: the surgery. But I do know when ever I lost weight in the past, it came from my boobs first. I assume the same will happen this time. Hopefully when we get closer to goal we will just have a better proportioned body all around.
  2. Julie, Bummer about the pre op diet. While I am not required to do a pre op diet, I did try a liquid diet. Left me with a HUGE headache. From posts on here, I see that it gets better after a couple days. Hope this is true for you!
  3. So, I know there are a LOT of July 1 sleevers out here. Just wondering how prep is going? I have some Protein powders I like, some chewable Vitamins, and some b12 vitamins. I am stocking up on sugar free Popsicles and gonna start getting broth and creamy Soups this week at my grocery list. Now just to prep the house for mom being laid up for a week.
  4. I keep looking for Americana sundresses. At size 20+, the red stripes are NOT flattering, but next year, I'm with you. We will be looking HAWT!!
  5. Awesome job! I know you are probably feelin rough with the caffeine headache, but we got this! You will do fabulous on July 1! Can not wait!!
  6. I didn't get a referral, and I'm not sure which insurances they accept or not. I would check online and then maybe call the office? Google "mount Carmel west bariatric center"
  7. The mount Carmel West doctors are excellent. And it is a bariatric Center of Excellence. Dr choban is my doctor and I really like her.
  8. Ok, I feel like this may be the stupidest question I will ask about pre op. But I am trying to get packed for the hospital and I want things to be perfect. I was thinking briefs so they will be just all covering and not riding up anywhere. But then I thought of a pair of bikinis, so the waist band won't lay right on the incision at the belly button. Thoughts?
  9. Ok, so I have been overweight my entire teen to adulthood. I have gone through phases of "I hate how I look" or "I don't wanna go anywhere because I am so fat". However, I had mostly moved away from those feelings and began to accept myself, but I still knew I needed to lose weight for my health. And NOW? Now that I have made the decision to have VSG, and lose weight and be healthy for me and my family? I am despising how I look! We are at a water park and I am thinking "I look like a beached whale!" or "My swimsuit is SO unflattering". I was floating down the lazy river, thinking... Maybe this is my mourning period-- mourning my attempts at losing weight without the VSG, mourning eating whatever I want in the future... I don't know. I'm tired and maybe thinking too much? Does anyone "get" this?
  10. My crew is at an indoor water park. I figure with surgery on July 1 I will not be able to water park for the rest of the summer. Still pre op, so I think we are having dinner at moms, just pizza, for Father's Day. Honestly I would rather the filet!
  11. Sorry I didn't get back with you on this. I have been buying applesauce/ pudding/ jello and trying to get used to the texture. I used to hate all these non chewable foods, but apparently that is the point now. I also bought the sample packs of unjury protein packets. I tried the chicken soup this am, and was sadly disappointed. I don't know what it was, but I could not stomach it at all. I have a couple of boxes of sugar free Popsicles in the deep freeze too. That's my plan. I don't want to have to run out in the first couple of weeks to the grocery store full of food that I can't eat, just to buy liquids.
  12. Well, they definitely motivated me! Our stats are very similar, and I can't wait to see how I look at 173!! You look fantastic
  13. So I went shopping with my little girl today, and she wanted to go to more stores, but I was so exhausted after our 2-3 errands. I had to come home to lay down. I did go to a consignment store for a couple of size 16-14 and large skirts (I am a snug 20, so I imagine these staples will fit before too long). I bought the clothes to have a goal, but then when I got I to the car and was so tired, I thought 'forget fitting into the clothes, I want to fit into my life'. Can't wait!!!
  14. 1. For my wedding rings to fit again 2. To go running errands with my daughter without feeling exhausted 3. To feel confident in my career 4. To shop in the "cool" stores 5. To not dread getting up in the morning because I have nothing that fits well 6. To go out in nature and hike and have fun with my family 7. To drastically cut the number of pills I take. So far, that's all I got
  15. My doctor's office called it the "farewell to food" tour, and they strongly discourage it. But I have seen to several restaurants and thought "won't be eating here for a year or more". I KNOW it's the right decision, it's just a big decision, and that makes it scary!
  16. It certainly can. It feels just weird as it travels around in there. In about 4-7 days it usually sets up in your shoulder. Sorry.
  17. OK, after reading this whole thread, I need to add my 2 cents. Lipstick- You actually can buy "Twinkies" again, though they are packaged under Little Debbie as a cloud cake or some such nonsense. Re: the cool table- Oh PLEASE let me sit here! I'm fun once you get to know me. Re: the donut/ sloppy Joe. I don't think I could handle that at all! Sleeve/ no sleeve/ esophagus/ no esophagus! LOL Re: jager bombs in the recovery room. Let's do it. My biggest fear is how terrible I will feel in the recovery room. Let's just cover it with alcohol baby! That may be all.
  18. So cool!! I'm July 1 too!
  19. OH, hold the phone-- I thought the man was ALWAYS supposed to do most of the work?!? Just kidding! OP- awesome for you! Can't wait to have that increased energy!
