I JUST posted about an hour ago about how excited I was and then just a few minutes ago a HUGE wave of anxiety came over me. I know this is the right decision, but it is MAJOR surgery too. I imagine our emotions are gonna roller coaster for a while before and probably after the surgery. I will tell you that you are NOT the only one having these feelings. I'm totally in your boat!

SO, I finally got called back from my doctor's office and I have all my dates scheduled!
Pre op testing day is June20
Pre op dr visit day is June 25
SURGERY is July 1!!
I am so excited. I wanted my date in June (as soon as possible really) but ever since I heard "July 1" I have been falling in LOVE with that date. I mean, it's the beginning of the month. (How many of us used to start diets on the first of the week, first of the month, first of the year, whatever?) And it's near independence day. I am getting a new life as the country is celebrating our independence.
OK, so I am getting way too deep in my thoughts here. I'm just super duper excited about having a date! :D :D

I don't understand all the venom. There was a very similar post earlier today that posed almost the exact question - maybe in a softer tone but the core of the discussion was the same. No one attacked that poster and called them hateful names. Instead' date=' another thread was started to the creator of this site looking for solutions......[/quote']This is just another step in a lengthy journey that the OP has deemed necessary to bad mouth and act better than the rest of the sleevers who aren't as successful, American, Texan, etc.
The "venom" is frustration from other posters who are tired of the OP having nothing but terrible to say about other people.

I LOVE this list. I can't wait to do all these things. I hate going to the mall and sitting on a bench to watch my kiddo play in the play area. I am such a kid myself. I wanna play too!!
And the dresses! I HATE going to church now. For no reason other than all I have are long maxi dresses, because all of my cute short skirts don't fit. And I refuse to buy more clothes at this size.

This was a really big deal to me as well. Growing up with 2 older brothers, I ALWAYS got all the jokes and such. I guess that is what brothers are for?
But I am realy surprised that both my brothers have stepped up and are supportive. They don't know much, but we aren't really geographically close, so I haven't shared everything.
Sorry your brother is not stepping up. As you said- maybe he will after surgery?

So I am from Ohio and I just started this crazy journey in April. I go to Dr Choban at Mount Carmel Bariatric in Columbus. I am super excited to have her as my surgeon, but I have had nothing but trouble with the office staff returning calls and such. I have whined and complained in other posts, so I won't go into it here.
I was just wondering if anyone else out there goes to Dr Choban or is in the Columbus area?

I tried to stay out of the nonsense as much as possible, since I am here for support and not nastiness.
But I will say that I haven't seen a lot of support from you toward any other poster. I have only seen snide, rude comments. At first I was prone to defend you in the other posts that went on FAR too long about Mexico vs USA vs Texas. But this one was just totally uncalled for!
UGH!

My doctor doesn't require a pre op diet at all, just nothing to eat/ drink the morning of surgery. I know that some people are hard core "you should do pre op liquids for x number of days", but I tried yesterday, and was in bed by 7pm with a KILLER Migraine. I have too much stuff to do prior to surgery to worry about feeling terrible too doing something I am not required to do.

I was purchasing a new (NOT MATERNITY) bathing suit and the cashier said "oh my daughter-in-law wore this when she was pregnant too. You will look cute in it". I just gave her a dirty look and walked away.
I also wore a "trapeze tunic" shirt to church once, and some nosy old lady patted my belly and said "is our church family going to get bigger soon?"
Very obvious on both counts what they were trying to say.

I am 5'9" and 256, totally apple shape. I agree it helps to be tall, but I am tired of hearing people say "you don't need to have surgery, you carry your weight well". Um, I don't WANT to carry my weight at all! :-P
I would be thrilled wearing a size 10!!
Looking to have surgery in late June/ early July, IF I ever get my doctors office to call me with a date.

I need to vent a bit.
My first appointment with the surgeon was April 16. I got all my requirements done by May 15. Finally got ahold of the office lady on the 24th, had insurance approval by the 27th. I have tried to call daily since then. Beginning on 5/30, the bariatric coordinator has been out of the office, and NO ONE else can help me schedule anything. Not the surgery, not the pre op, nothing. I feel like I'm in a holding pattern.
So I know this isn't a terrible amount of time to wait, but I feel as though I have gotten no where with this office. I love the surgeon, but I do not like dealing with her staff.

Are all the Protein Shakes so sugary? I first thought it was another different addition to my smoothie I was adding, but stopped that when I started getting serious with the Protein shakes. So I"m making mine with 1% milk, and it tastes like melted ice cream.
And thoughts?

What's the reasoning behind the sippy cups?
Just wondering.
So exciting!!!

Well, I went to the educational forum in late February, saw surgeon in mid April, did all the required clearances in May, and just got notified from insurance that it was approved! So now I am just waiting on the dr office to call me with a date. I can't wait!
I am sure that the people I meet here will be very helpful as I move forward in this crazy journey!'
What were you eating 2 weeks after surgery?
