I know Dr Kuri does them. He said u lose about 30-40 pounds. The balloon stays in for 6 months and cost somewhere around 3 grand. The down fall is once its out, it is really easy to regain the weight. It is also used on people who are too high in their BMI to be safe for the Lap Band. It helps them get to a safe weight. So it is ideal for either very low BMI or very high BMI. There is no surgery and yes it is done under "twilight sedation". I looked into it a lot a few months ago and could not find one support site to see what the side effects were. The only one they really talk about from the doctors office is vomiting. I dont know how long that lasts or if it goes away. It isnt that new of a procedure, just not as popular. I would do it if it if I didnt think I would gain it back.

Those prices r very close to the prices in US. He must be a very good and respected surgon. For those prices I would not go to MX. Ive had a few nips and tucks here in US and the prices r very close. Just because we r more protected to take action against anything that could go wrong is y I would stay here. I am only considering MX because money is going to be tight after my band. Its funny but I feel so safe going to MX for my band because of how much experiance they have with the band there, but I have serious reservations about MX for a TT. Well I will have to lose the weight first anyhow so I have a while to think about it. In the mean time if anyone has any suggestions for doctors they have used in MX post em up!

Yes I totally believe that. It was probably knowledge from a past life. I sometimes have really odd memories of an old cobblestone road and being a very young child wearing old clothes and playing with other children in the street in old syle clothing and picking flowers. I started telling my mom about it when i was 5. I also started having dreams where i would get out of bed to look down and see myself in there. I started those when I was so young, I must have been 3. Or maybe thats just when I was old enough to start telling my mom about them. I still have those dreams. Now I try to find something out of place to look when I wake up. Sometimes I get stuck over my body and cant move, and sometimes I can fly all over the place. Its so strange. But my mom has them too and so does my grandma and greatgrandma. Never seen a ghost but im sure they r out there. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever see one when Im out of myself as I feel like it is my ghost that is floating around, but it hasnt happend yet. I always wonder how I will get back in, but it seems to work out. Now that Im used to them I love to fly around the house!

Jenna, U r so brave for doing this. I am so with u 100% and u and I have like THE same body shape! Our BMI is identical, and I as well have gained lost gained lost. I feel so blessed to stop all of the tears, whispers, the selfesteem issues that have sent me into eating disorders, depression, sometimes wanting not to go out with my friends because I know I will see someone I knew when I was in school and they will say TO MY FACE how fat I have become. People can be so heartless. It hurts so much......everyone with a weight problem knows that. I have had a weight problem since I was a child. I started with the eating disorders at 9 yrs old! 9 yrs old! I really believe that most obese people gain weight easier than other "normal' people, and then we just eat more cause like "fu*& it." We r fat anyways even when we do eat like the rest of em. Its not fair and someone with out a weight issue could never understand. They look at me like Im a gluton who eats icecream and chips all day. Let me tell u that is NOT the case. I am not a huge over eater. I do have my moments, but for the most part I eat healthier than ANY of my friends my age who are a size 3. And then they all talk about me. I look at my family members who r older, and I know that is where Im headed. Y should we wait and watch it happen be4 we do something? Y should we let our weight controll us when there is such a great tool to help us controll our own future. I am dedicated to making this band work, and I think most people who go through the surgery r. I wouldnt do this if I wasnt willing to make healthy choices and work hard. I have such awful self esteem I could never put up my picture like u did, but look at u now! This band has already givin u the strength!!!! U know this is going to change ur life!! And so do I. Thank God for doctors who can help us. Thank god for friends who dont judge us............I am so sick of being judged. Its been my whole life and Im ready to be normal. Well, just a thought but with the money ull be saving, it seems that u will be able to do lots of new fun stuff with ur kids, maybe disneyland or family vacations once a yr that may have been hard to do before....point this stuff out to them. Maybe u could offer to put them in a new class that they get to pick like Karate or gymnastics. Thats what I did for my daughter when I had to move in with a roomate for financial reasons. It only cost me 30$ a month and I could afford to do it with my new improved budget. My daughter was thrilled when could go to the movies more often and stuff like that, and it made us closer.....DONT WORRY!!! Ur doing the right thing for ur family and u will all be happier and less stressed.

I dont know bout the band cause I havnt had mine yet, but when I was pregnant I had lots of hair, it wasnt till after I spit the kid out that all my hair came out with her. When I would wash my hair in the shower handfuls of it would just come lose in my fingers. I cried. I actually remember that the hair in the front, like bangs if u had them, that part, and along the sides and bottom recieded entirely and it took a good 6-12 months for that hair to even START growing back. Then when it did start growing back, it stuck strait up!! lol But in the scheme of things, whats a little hair. And I didnt really get bald spots. If u have thick hair to begin with u should be fine! I have thin hair and I was still ok. No one would really notice unless i pointed it out

I was not put on a liquid pre op but of course will be on the liquids after! I have been trying to eat less and healther to prepair. I havnt had any "last meals" binges yet where Ive really gone over board cause I really dont want to gain anymore weight and have that much more to lose. Like Bella said, I will lose slower than some of the others but in the long run this will be the life changing tool that will work (I really really hope).

Hey honey! Why dont u try taking it to someone who does alterations on leather and see if they can salvage it for u? Just a thought! Of course I dont know jack crap really cause I dont get my band till the ninth!! But how great is it to worry bout old "fat" clothes?! Im keepin all mine till theyr'e fallen off me. I dont know how many times I threw away clothes after I lost weight only to gain it back...sigh. But this time should be different! Yaehhhhhh for us! Hot topic here we come!!

Wow, I did a search and also just looked threw ALL the Plastic Surgery threads. I hit "from the begining" so I think I searched ALL the threads ever started on plastic.....not much there. Found one thread by Alice.....Dont know if Ill get much responce cause it seems like not many people have had it done there. Well I think it really depends on the situation of every person....maybe that girl has lost and gained like 60 or 70 pounds quite a few times and is gaining again and needs a tool like the rest of us. Yes Mexico has no "exact standereds like the US does." The procedure is minimally invasive and the band is removable, so it is a good choice for some in this situation...rather than to get MO and then have a Gastric Bypass or something. In Mexico they view this surgery with less of the negitive views twords lower BMI patents because they see it as not very invasive and almost no fatal complications. Hope that helps
