  1. This is long, but I need help from the experts! I had the sleeve 4/23/13 and did have some slight problems with constipation at first. I started taking a capful of Miralax once a day with good success. The past 2 weeks have been pretty rough. I increased the Miralax to 2 capfuls daily with minimal results. I decided to move on to Milk of Magnesia which works, but it gives me horrible gas and diarrhea no matter the dose. I'm 9 weeks out and I just don't have the room for Fiber rich foods yet because I'm trying to get my Protein first. I eat 3 meals daily with no snacking per my doctor's plan. Twice I've had a Fiber One bar with added protein, but these are just TOO good and I don't want to get in the habit of feeling like I'm eating a candy bar. I also don't want to snack in between meals. I've tried the Fiber One Cereal as well...again in between meals. It doesn't seem to be helping. I've looked at Metamucil and similar products in the store, but they have artificial sweetners and I cannot tolerate them since surgery (pain and gas). I just bought some Exxlax and had 2 squares tonight. I'm hoping it will help, but I know I shouldn't have it long term. If you have any suggestions on a more natural approach to increasing fiber without sacrificing my protein intake, I would appreciate it so much!

    Fiber help plesse

I looked at those tonight, but they have those artificial flavors that give me gas, bloating and discomfort.
  3. I haven't kept it a secret at all, but I'm constantly asked how much weight I've lost by several people and it gets kind of old (especially if I'm on a stall). Sometimes I wonder if I should have kept it secret.
  4. Surgery was 4/23. The day of surgery I was 219 and I'm now 195 for a total of 24 pounds in 7 weeks, 3 days.

    Stich Poking Out!

I had one too. The doctor said it was my body's way of reacting to the foreign body. It ended up going back under the skin and completely healed.

    Mouth

I experienced that during weeks 1 and 2, but it resolved. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and i was thinking about asking them about that.

    199

I made it to 199# today. Feels so good to be out of the 200s. I haven't been this weight since 1998.
  8. How did you determine your goal weight? I didn't think to get my surgeon's opinion pre-op, but I have an appointment next week and will ask his opinion then. I'm 5'1" and 199# right now. My surgery date was 4/23/13. My personal original goal pre-op was 120, but I think now it may be unrealistic.

    Stop sipping

It is so interesting how different we all are. I'm 6 weeks out and I'm still sipping. I know exactly how much I can take in a sip. If I go over, it hurts pretty bad.
  10. Now that I'm down 17 pounds post-op (plus 13 pre-op), I've been looking in my my closet for the smaller clothes that I've saved over the years. I cannot find anything! I must have thrown them all out thinking I would NEVER be able to get back into them. It would be nice to have something to compare to. It is sad to me that at some point in time I gave up completely.
  11. I went out today and decided to treat myself to a new pair of jeans. I was wearing a snug 20, but got a size 18. I tried on a16, but it was to tight...BUT I got them on, snapped and zipped!
  12. I'm almost there...can't wait!
  13. I could have written this! same pre-op weight to amount of weight lost in the first 2 weeks, low calorie count and struggling with water. Surgery was 4/23
  14. I couldn't sleep in a bed until 11 days out. My recliner was my best friend!
  15. EOB said $33,000+ including anesthesia and one day hospital stay. All but $14,000+ was written off for plan contract. My out of pocket is $1500.
  16. I got these cards too. I'm one month post-op, but haven't used the restaurant card yet.
  17. I thought the same thing for the first week. As the others have said, it gets better each day. I'm one month out and down 14 pounds, 12 of which I lost in the first 2 weeks (which is slow compared to a lot of people on here). I've lost inches, so that helps with my mindset. You most likely will hit a stall too so be prepared for it. It will get better, I promise.

    Thrush?

And I meant to add, I picked up a yeast infection in my groin (not vaginal) while in the hospital. Still treating that with prescription cream.

    Thrush?

I had this too! I would brush and brush my tongue but it wouldn't budge. It felt like fur growing on my tongue! I was convinced for a bit it was thrush, but it did go away on its own. This only happened during the clear liquid/full liquid phase. I was convinced it was the Isopure that caused it. If you have doubts, check with your doctor to be sure.
  20. Surgery 4/23 and down 13 pounds, but that was within the first two weeks. I haven't lost anything for a week! Surgery day weight was 219.
