First Options Class
DualStarr, I had my orientation on May 6th and started my class today. They had a class that started on the 3rd but I was out of town and could not make the 2:30 time they had for that day. From the orientation til now I have lost 2.2lbs.

First Options Class
I am going to the Culver City/West LA Kaiser. The onrv thing I will say is to build a support system to keep you accountable. I don't think the some of the people in my class are truly motivated to succeed at this.

First Options Class
Today was my first class of the 12 weeks and the only thing I noticed is that the goal is to exercise 30 minutes every day or 60 minutes five days a week. Has anyone else been told that?

Nutribullet
I have one and took it with me on vacation. It is absolutely fabulous! I have made several of the recipes and sometimes having to substitute when I run out of something. I love the juices/smoothies it produces. I am not, much of a green eater and I love the fact that you can't taste them as well. This was definitely God sent!!

Daily workout.
Some of the things that I have been doing while on vacation is the treadmill for thirty minutes a day in South Carolina while visiting my aunt. Now I am in Mississippi and I have been doing some workout videos (Jillian Michaels kickbox Fastfix workouts 1 and 3; Crunch dance workout videos). The latter has 4 workout cds covering different types of dance styles and another video called hip hop abs, I believe that is the name of it. In other words I am the type of person who gets bored very easily so I have to change up things a bit. Once I get back home, I will be going back to the gym doing strength training two days a week and cardio two days a week. I hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me!! :-)

After WLS...I lost my 3 best friends
In my opinion, if you lost those friends, then just maybe they weren't your friends to begin. You always find out who your true friends are when you need them the most.

Goal weight question
I would like to thank UK Candy for the chart. I am 5'6 in height and 46 years old. I know from the time I was 11 until after I delivered my second child, I weighed 145. At that weight I was wearing a size, 11/12. That was an alright weight for me but I don't think it is the ideal weight for me at my current age. I believe 160 would be a better weight depending on how I am satisfied with my body after I am sleeved and reach that weight.

Let's Talk Vitamins
I would like to ask the forum when it comes to the vitamins, does every bariatric doctor request every patient to take the same vitamins? Or is it personalized based upon your health issues? There are so many sites on the internet about taking vitamins for bariatric surgery that it is overwhelming to me.

follow up dr visits and vitamins
I keep seeing people mention NUT. What is that? I have seen that on several threads. I also wanted to say that I can see your frustration with the appointments. When you are not satisfied with your doctor or physician's assistant, you have a right to request for a different provider. When it comes to your time and your health, you have a right to receive quality service and not to have your time wasted on the provider talking about her personal life. I would have kindly stated that the purpose of my visit to accomplish a certain task. She literally took you and your husband's kindness for granted. I would ask for another person to attend to your case that is more professional. You as the consumer have a right to choose who you want manageing your health. I'm not referring to your insurance but the medical professionals that you have to deal with. I hope this helps!! :-)

my bf broke up with me..
I would like to say that I have suffered with depression for over 20+ years and I have had mates who just didn't understand why I was depressed. If he didn't want to educate himself about your depression then he truly didn't deserve you. Sometimes with my depression, I don't feel like doing anything. One time I had a friend who told me two things. One was, instead of taking it one day at a time, taking it one hour at a time, one minute at a time. This statement in itself helped me because a day can be a long time to a depressed person. The second thing had to do with the serenity prayer. She said the prayer and added one extra thing. For example: God grant me the serenity to accept the I can't I cannot change (this is where you would put his name here). Courage to change the things that I can (you can't change him but you can change your response to his negative comments or treatment). And the wisdom to know the difference. Sometimes when I get in a situation, I quote the serenity prayer and do what she say and it worked for me. I hope this helps you!! :-) Smile! You are a beautiful person. You will make it through this process and he will try his best to get you back. This is when you have to be string and resist him cause he turned his back on you when you were down. This will be your reward! Meaning that you did something for you, not him and your self esteem improving a thousand times fold. I have learned that because my self esteem is low, I have attracted to me that were no good for me. As I work on this process, and my mind, I noticed that I am attracting a different type of person to me. Don't worry! Be happy! Like Bob Marley would say. My 19 year lives by this statement all his life every since he came out the wound. He is truly a blessing and is helping me to adopt the same attitude. Hugs to you!

Non Scale Victories that Im looking forward too
Sometimes I think about being about to walk in any store and buy anything I want. Also I felt good when I got on a plane and I was able to sit in the seat without asking for an extension for the belt. The last time was in 2008 and I weight 289lbs. That was the last time I was on a plane before now. I would like to be able to walk infront of a mirror without it making me look 3x bigger.

If you're not the gym type, what to do for exercise?
If you like to dance, dancing is a fun way to exercise without thinking you're exercising. Also, you can march in place with some music. Whatever music you like. Its true that weights make you lose more. It will keep you burning calories for 2 days after your workout. You can do leg lifts by sitting in a chair. You can do whatever makes you move and comfortable.

Has anyone had problems with previous scar tissue when they had their surgery?
I am really curious to see if anyone had complications because of it. I have had three hernias removed, a tubal ligation, a hysterectomy, among other surgeries in my 46 years of living. Currently, I am 5'6 and when they weighed me in at the information session, I was 247.8lbs. When I weighed myself last I was 239.2. When I weigh myself at home, I weigh myself without any clothes on. So I don't know how much of a difference it will be between the two. Considering they weigh me in the evening, where as I do it in the morning.

Abdominal binder?
What is the binder? Is it something like the belt youj put around your waist when you exercise?

cardiac clearance
At what point in the process they request that test? I start my classes on June 12th. I am so excited. I have start to lose some weight already. I think what is helping me is the fact that I am writing everything down.

do you wear anything on the surgery table
I was wondering if it is an option to not have the catheter in. I caught a bladder infection from it when I had my hysterectomy. Does anyone know or were given that option?

Just looking for a pep talk!
One tthing that I have done when my weight has stalled in the past is vary the exercises, switch the order of the exercises, increase or decrease the weight and reps, among other things. I know with me, my body gets immune to things very quickly. So I always have to change things up. This even goes for my medications as well. Sometimes you have to put your body into shock to jump it into gear. Keep up the good work and you will reach your goal with your head held high.

Sabotage
Rebecca just keep your eye on the prize. The prize in this case, is a more vibrant and vivacious person that can accomplish anything her heart desires. I too turn to food but then that starts a cycle of feeling bad and eating more. Then at the other extreme I will workout 5 days a week for 2 hours straight sometimes. So I know I need to find a balance and so can you. Keep positive reinforcement around you like pictures of how you want to look. They could be pictures in magazines, your friends, family, or anyone that has the body and mentality that you are striving for. Keep your head up and you will be fine.
