    Back to work!

i'm happy your excited. I started back yesterday @ 3 weeks post op and i'm exhausted, irritable and my brain feels like i have pregnancy fog!!! Good luck at work! i hope everything works out great for you
  3. I can relate. I'm still afraid to try anything new. Yogurt worked for me though just take a teeny tiny bite and then mix it around in your mouth until it's watered down some. Swallow slowly! wait 5 minutes and see how you feel. I am just on purees now and had my first bite of mashed potatoes yesterday. It was amazing. Not exactly the taste, but it was the first time my stomach felt like it had SUBSTANCE in it!!! Almost like I was satisfied after a meal. It was awesome.
  4. It only applies to your fingers unless they had to put an oxygen clip on your toe for some reason! lol

    Just my luck...

I had this same issue. Don't even give it a second thought! Just tell them at the hospital and they will give you those awesome gigantic pads pretty sure they deal with it all the time. FYI - don't freak out if you start bleeding MORE because of the blood thinner shots they will give you. It happened to me. Good luck!

    Protein shake

Pre-op I just drank 5 of the Atkins Advantage shakes a day. Definitely only buy enough for PRE-OP because I'm 99% sure you won't be able to drink them post op! LOL not enough protein in too much liquid good luck!

    Advice

Lauralee - the exact same thing happened to me. First week after surgery, lost like 10 lbs, then NOTHING for the next 7 days!! I was getting frustrated too until I talked to a friend who reminded me that my body is traumatized, freaking out, and healing. We get it in our minds that we are just going to lose lose lose - but I had to really have a talk with myself to not be frustrated or annoyed if the scale doesn't move every day. My second week I would actually gain a pound here and there. Think about it logically - there is NO WAY you are really not going to lose weight...I don't think you are cruising thru the Taco Bell drive through lol!!! Just be patient with your body and measure your inches!! I lost those when I wasn't losing weight Keep up the good work!

    :(

I'm right at 3 weeks post op and I didn't lose a single pound my entire second week. Totally normal. 12 lbs is fantastic. Think about it - you are 2 weeks out, that is almost a pound a day! I promise the scale will start moving. Are you measuring inches? THOSE are coming off even if the scale isn't moving
  10. Hey all - my surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, May 14th. Everything has been great, doing really good on my pre-op diet, but all the sudden I'm starting to freak out! Part of me is thinking "don't do it"! but the other part of me is thinking, "you have been working for 8 months to get to this day, stop your whining"! has anyone else gotten cold feet before surgery or had 2nd thoughts? I'm going to go through with everything I just wish I could find some calmness in these last few days!!

    Preop diet fail

To all the women out there - can I just say that PMS and liquids only DO NOT MESH WELL TOGETHER! I think my husband is about ready to divorce me and my step-kids are staying away from me! LOL Man I'm trying hard to be nice but I'm snapping more than a turtle!

    Preop diet fail

I completely am thinking the same thing. I've never wanted to slurp some pureed chicken so bad in my entire life!

    Preop diet fail

How was it after surgery? Did things get any better as far as cravings, feeling like your stomach was going to eat itself?

    Preop diet fail

I'm on day 7 of my 2 week liquid diet. What an emotional rollercoaster. I haven't cheated - well, on my 2nd day I did have 1 extra Protein Shake, but I don't really think you can call that cheating! It's crazy. I made my 20 month old a grilled ham & cheese sandwhich and while I was cutting it up for her, I started BAWLING. I've never wanted to shove something in my mouth so badly. It didn't help that the rest of my family was chowing down on pizza that night either. Last night they made steak & potatoes. I took a bath and read my Bible upstairs during that time!!! I totally get how people end up cheating. I've found myself standing in the kitchen countless times and then I think "WHAT am I doing in here!?!" Habit I guess! I had a friend tell me that this preop diet is almost like a smoker trying to quit. We are so used do eating and chewing that it's addicting! So even though our bodies are pretty much getting whatever they need to survive, the head hunger (and a bit of a growling tummy) make us panic and think we are starving to death - so then we eat! I mean, most of us have been following this pattern of eating for what, at LEAST 30 years, so really, what do we expect! lol - my first instinct when I'm hungry and it's meal time isn't "let me nuke some chicken broth and have a Protein shake" yum yum. I'm proud of everybody doing this diet, including myself. It's probably the roughest thing I've ever done. I think the thing that keeps me from cheating is that I've lost 12.2 lbs as of this morning, so from last Tuesday to today. So I'm pretty happy about that. Does anybody else's Dr let them drink the low-calorie G2 Gatorade? Mine has it on the approved list of liquids and man, it helps me make it through the day!

    Pre-op Requirements

Praying for you! so exciting when you are done with the 6 months!!
  17. Hello all! I just started my 2 week pre-op diet this morning. I sat there staring at my Atkins shake thinking "once I open this there is no going back" LOL, so it took me about 20 minutes before I cracked it open, but there's no turning back now and I'm excited. Surgery is scheduled for May 14th - I know it will be here before I know it...so nervous though. I've noticed my Xanax consumption has increased these past couple weeks! lol Anybody else required to do the bowl cleanse before surgery?
